I say this phrase a lot, "Fiddle Ferns & Lettuce" but I can't remember where I got it from. I want to say it was some eccentric old wizard or witch who said the phrase, and it was one of those books that was aimed to the 12 and up crowd...including teens and adults. I know it wasn't Harry Potter... actually it was before Harry Potter, but I can't remember the name of the book. Does anyone recognize this?

It's hardly Merlin from "The Sword in the Stone"? Probably not, but that's all I can come up with...

Yeah, I thought it could be a "Merlin" as well, but none of the books I remember come to mind.

OMG, we tried to perform that one year, but I started saying the phrase years before I even heard of "Into the Woods". Lol. There goes my psychic intuition again. One time I was writing a book and created the word "Mearra" for a Celtic based fantasy civilization that would mean "princess"... go figure, it really is the Celtic word for "princess." Damn past life memories... stressed
