~::Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]::~

(Answers to the questions that you may or may not be wanting to ask!)

Quote:
How many characters can I play at once?

Answer: In order to prevent one person from taking too much onto his/her self and to ensure that there aren't too many potential Persona users waiting for their chance to join the team, the limit for number of characters that can be played by a single person is 5, however no more than 3 of these characters may be Persona-users. Participation in another group [Devil Summoners, Embryon Members, etc.] is required for the others to have power. They may be original characters, or a combination of original characters and canon roles. You may not, however, have more than one member of the original 8 members of the Investigation Team [Souji, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Kanji, Rise, Naoto, and Teddie].

In addition, if you play an Investigation Team member and original characters, you will be expected to make at least ONE post as your Investigation Team member for every THREE you make as an Original Character. This is to ensure that the Investigation Team is as involved as it should be, and to make sure that having so many characters isn't going to be too much on the player in addition to their team member.

Quote:
Do I start with my Persona?

Answer: No. In order to obtain your persona, you must first face your true self. In order to first enter the TV World, you will need to either be guided in by friends, or [most likely] kidnapped and thrown inside the TV. This will result in the appearance of your shadow's world [dungeon], and at the top you will face your true self...your shadow. When this happens, the Investigation Team will turn their attentions to rescuing you, and once they have defeated your shadow, you will have the opportunity to accept your hidden desires and thoughts. By doing this, you may then obtain your persona.

In some cases there may be exceptions to the rule. However these are few and far between, and will usually have some importance to the developing plot. These instances will generally be either initiated or orchestrated by the Guild Captain [Arena Emperor], and he will inform you if you are to take part in such an event.

Quote:
Question: What is the Investigation Team?

Answer: A group of high school students who have obtained a power called persona [a manifestation of their inner self], which can be summoned by smashing a tarot card in their hands. Members of this team can enter the [TV World] at will, and initially, only use their power inside the TV. Through forming Social Links, they can evolve their persona and eventually, use their persona in the [Real World]. Their goal is to prevent kidnappings, murders, and to rescue people who are lost inside of the [TV World]. They are the main heroic protagonists of this Guild, in direct opposition with Hetero's Shadow Persona-Users, the Black Messengers.

Quote:
Question: What are the Black Messengers?

Answer: A group of evil persona-users lead by a man called Hetero, this group has obtained the power of persona AND the power of their shadows, evil doppelgangers which exist inside of the [TV World]. Because of their connection to the shadows and the TV World, they are capable of using their persona inside the [TV World], and using a unique Shadow Power both inside the [TV World] and in the [Real World]. Their raised physical attributes due to their merging with their own shadow make them a more formidable opponent than a regular persona-user. They can become stronger through training given by Hetero, and gain a high-level manifestation of their Shadow Power. The Black Messengers, under Hetero's lead, currently seem to have the goal of defeating the Investigation Team, bringing a sort of genocide and evil rule to Inaba, and stealing the shadows and powers of potential persona-users. They are currently the main antagonists to the Investigation Team.

Quote:
Question: What are SEES/SEES-2?

Answer: SEES is a group of persona-users who once fought against Takaya's Strega group, who were evil persona-users...and against a deity called Nyx, which was the personification of death. Fighting during a time known as the Dark Hour [which no longer exists], they called upon their power using a device known as an evoker [shaped like a gun] which forced out a persona...a useful manifestation of a person's shadow. A more unnatural manifestation of the persona than the tarot card, it can be used to summon a persona in the [Real World], but these people cannot enter the [TV World], and using their persona outside of the Dark Hour may cause side-effects. SEES and SEES-2 (a new incarnation of the original SEES with new members) are currently the protagonists who primarily fight against the current Strega group and any enemies which attack in the [Real World].

Quote:
Question: What is Strega/are Takaya's Revolutionaries?

Answer: A group of evil persona-users who once fought against SEES to try and assist the coming of Nyx, they were defeated two years ago when Minato Arisato [SEES Leader] sacrificed his life to become a seal, keeping Nyx from descending upon Earth. Two years later, Takaya, the leader of Strega, has emerged in Inaba with what one must assume is a similar goal in mind. Because Strega consists of individuals who did not originally have the potential [as SEES members do], they take constant suppressants to keep their persona from killing them, significantly shortening their life-span. The persona of Strega Members are not as controlled as SEES Members, therefore they can be summoned without the use of an evoker at times, and through some currently unknown means, can eventually gain an even greater power [similar to the high-level Shadow Fusion possible in Hetero's Black Messengers]. Strega currently operates only in the [Real World], and are antagonists to SEES and the Investigation Team.

Quote:
Question: Who are Devil Summoners and the Yatagarasu?

Answer: Devil Summoners are people who have undergone special training to be able to see and talk with various demons and gods, right up to the point of negotiating with them to turn them into allies. Storing their companions in special Tubes made to contain spirits, Devil Summoners typically fight by calling up to two of their spirits out onto the battlefield to assist them, which makes it very hard to catch them by surprise. Currently, Devil Summoners are only operating in the [Real World]. The best Devil Summoners in the world are the Four Great Summoners of the Kuzunoha [Raidou, Geirin, Kyouji, and one whose name is yet unknown...], who inherit both name and title, and they're frequently looked up to by other Summoners.

Most, but not all, Devil Summoners belong to an organization known as the Yatagarasu [a type of three-legged/three-eyed spiritual crow]. A nationalistic organization, the Yatagarasu works to protect Japan from various supernatural threats, including by keeping incidents as secret as possible. Though it operates primarily on a need-to-know basis, rarely telling people more than they actually require, the Yatagarasu is a positive force that works for the benefit of Japan, and thus it is the enemy of groups like the Black Messengers and Takaya's Revolutionaries. The Yatagarasu recruits people with a variety of powers (thus, Persona-users, Devil Summoners, and Atma users can all theoretically be working for them), but primarily sends out Devil Summoners to deal with things due to the way they operate, especially because the Yatagarasu's primary dealings are with inhuman threats, not human ones. They don't get along with the Embryon, seeing that group as too headstrong and not concerned enough about the innocent people they often get involved, and though on paper they're a group connected to the Government, the Yatagarasu ultimately answers only to itself. The Yatagarasu oversees the Kuzunoha Village, where its Devil Summoner agents often live and train.

Quote:
Question: What is the Embryon Special Task Force?

Answer: The Embryon Special Task Force, currently headed by Lord General Balmung, is a Government organization that exists primarily to get rid of supernatural threats... by any means necessary. Militant, fierce, and with no belief in casualties being too high until it prevents the mission from being accomplished, the Embryon is quite good at getting things done. Unlike the Yatagarasu, however, the Embryon deals primarily with human threats; people who have gained one sort of power or another. Members of the Embryon use the ability of 'Atma', a power that allows them a transformation into another form; sometimes, the changes are subtle, but on occasion you find those who turn into animals, amorphous blobs, or things that don't seem quite human... but all of these forms are known to increase their power. On paper, the Embryon is against those who are attacking Inaba, but in practice they're just fine with taking down anybody they need to, including people you would think were their allies. The Embryon currently operates only in the [Real World].

Quote:
Question: What are Orochi Summoners and who are the Orochi?

Answer: Orochi Summoners are people who, unlike most summoners, were born with the ability to see a demon [denoting an incredibly high spiritual power sleeping inside of them] and have undergone advanced, individual training to be able to talk to and interact with devils and other such spirits. Because of their individualistic nature, they search for years to find a single demon that will mesh with their personality and their goals and then make a deal with them, sealing the demon partially inside of their body and partially inside of a silver tube kept on them at all times. This special seal allows flexibility in the ability to access their powers, meaning that the demon can be summoned individually and commanded like a regular ally, or the summoner can achieve a Demon Form for an even greater increase to their own combat ability. Currently, Orochi Summoners are only operating in the [Real World]. Working separate from any organization, there are no ranks inside of the Orochi, save for the acknowledgment of the man who brought them together as their unofficial leader. He rarely gives them orders, however, and most act according to their own agenda and wishes...so long as they do not contradict their leader's own.

However unlike most Devil Summoners, some of the most naturally talented of them belong to an organization known as the Orochi [a snake with many heads from Japanese mythology]. An independent organization, they operate under a principle called 'Absolute Freedom' coined by their founder, and act only with their own interests in mind, whatever they may be. They rarely work together and are often quite antagonistic to each other in private, but when it comes to work they know that they must stay out of each other's way if they are to achieve their goals. The Orochi are not currently recruiting and are limited to only a few individuals who have reached a certain peak in their skills under the guidance of their leader...they have no inherent goal other than to experience and live in a world where 'Absolute Freedom' reigns. Because they are Devil Summoners who use their powers for their own selfish interests they are natural antagonists to the Yatagarasu, though they rarely go out of their way to encounter them unless it is for a bit of fun. Their home is a secret underground lair beneath Inaba accessible only to their group.

Question: How do I become a member of the Investigation Team?

Answer: In order to become a member of the Investigation Team, you will have to wait and RP as a regular citizen in Inaba for some time. During this time your character will need to form bonds with other players, attend events frequently, and generally become a part of the goings on in town. After a while, it is possible [but not guaranteed] you will be drawn into the [TV World] and kidnapped, at which point you will have the opportunity to [Face Your Shadow]. When you [Face Your Shadow], there are two paths you can take. To become a normal persona-user and join the Investigation Team, you will need to [Accept Your Shadow as a Part of You]. When this happens, it will become your persona, and you will be taken out of the TV by the I. Team and usually, accepted into their ranks.

This is one of the hardest ways to go about obtaining power, but perhaps the most fulfilling.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a member of the Black Messengers?

Answer: The Black Messengers are an evil persona-user group similar to the Investigation Team, but unlike the I. Team, you must be [Chosen By Hetero] and brought into the [TV World] by a member of the [Black Messengers]. To be considered for this, you must have a potential for evil [you won't be drafted unless you hint that you WANT drafted onto their team], have a strong fear of something [Fear of Death, Fear of Loneliness, etc.] and be willing to serve loyally under Hetero once accepted. If you qualify, and are brought to the TV World, Hetero will then put you through the initiation of [Facing Your Shadow]. If you intend to join his team, you will have to [Accept the Shadow as the True Self], at which time you will [Fuse] with the shadow and become a Shadow Persona-User of the Black Messengers. Please note that attempting to accept the shadow normally in this situation may potentially result in your death, as you would fail the initiation.

This is an easier way to obtain power and one of the stronger initial powers, but requires a dedication to Hetero and to evil.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a member of SEES-2?

Answer: Becoming a member of the SEES-2 is similar to the way that you become a member of the Investigation Team. Playing in the town and forming links, going to events, and other such actions will bring your character to the attention of the original SEES group, who recruit members for SEES-2. More exclusive than the Investigation Team, it is also a bit easier to awaken your power as a member of SEES-2. Once drafted into the group by the Original SEES, you will be given an evoker, which can then be used to summon the persona in the [Real World].

While easier than joining the Investigation Team, it is less likely that you will be chosen by them.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a member of Strega/Takaya's Revolutionaries?

Answer: Similar to the way that you join Hetero's Black Messengers, you are selected for a propensity towards evil, a nihilistic view on life and the world, and a sheer cruelty by Takaya or one of his high-ranked allies to join Strega. Unlike the Black Messengers, you do not need to be taken into the TV world to join, but instead must go through an initiation of another sort...usually some traumatic experience with a member of the group...and then you will be given an evoker. From that point, you will work under Takaya's command and go to action when called.

Offers roughly the same benefits and drawbacks as Hetero's Black Hand.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a Devil Summoner/member of the Yatagarasu?

Answer: Unlike the persona-user classes, you can become a Devil Summoner simply by creating your character upon joining the Guild as one of them. This allows you to start your roleplaying with powers, but also as a loyal member of the Yatagarasu. You will have demons you can summon to fight alongside you, mostly low-level to start, and you will unlock more powerful ones [and raise the level of your demons] the more that you participate in fights. You have quite a bit of free reign as a Devil Summoner, but must act when called upon by a Kuzunoha or a Yatagarasu contact.

One of the few classes which allows you to start with powers without a trial, but has a lower ceiling.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a member of Embryon?

Answer: Like Devil Summoners, you can create your character as a member of Embryon from the outset. When you do this, you will begin the RP as an Ensign, the lowest ranked officer in the military organization. Joining Embryon will allow you to start with the initial Atma Power, which you can level up through fighting and capturing other people with power to get promotions. It has a rapidly-increasing power structure, and offers the benefit of immediately working with a squad.

While starting with power as a member of Embryon, you are relegated to working within the military organization's orders, and are the only class which runs the risk of instant death at any point in time without warning!

Question: What is the Nanjou Group?

Answer: One of the richest and most powerful corporations in Japan, the Nanjou were once one with the Kirijo Gorup before the two went their separate ways. Still, they worked together on a great many projects, including the Kirijo's shadow research and the Nanjou's research of another source of unimaginable power...Devils and the Dark Realm. After the failure of the Kirijo's shadow research and the accident 12 years ago which gave birth to the 13th Arcana, Death, the Nanjou distanced themselves from the Kirijo. Since then, control of the Nanjou has fallen into the hands of their young heir, whose brilliance has yielded the unlikely and powerful result of the COMP-Station technology and opening the connection to the Dark Realm.

Within the Nanjou is a sect known as the Nanjou Shomonkai, which are particularly dedicated to the ideas of their young CEO, to extreme lengths. They are something of a secret force for the Nanjou, which aid the group in the pursuit of their penultimate goal.

Quote:
Question: What is a Devil Survivor?

Answer: An ordinary citizen in the Inaba Area who has obtained a COMP-Station Summoning Tool in order to command a demon with which to protect themselves from enemies that would attack them during the Inaba lockdown. Devil Survivors use the COMP-Station device to connect to the Dark Realm and pull from within a demon which the user must then defeat, negotiate with, or bribe into working for them. Once the Devil has been subjugated, the Devil Survivor can use the COMP-Station to summon it any time they are in danger via the supernatural. Devil Survivors who devote themselves to working with the Nanjou Group to restore order to the city and protect its citizens can then later become a Nanjou Shomonkai.

Quote:
Question: What is a Nanjou Shomonkai?

Answer: A citizen of Inaba who devotes themselves to the ideals of the Nanjou Group who gave power to the ordinary citizen to defend themselves against the supernatural enemies causing chaos during the lockdown. Unquestioningly loyal to the Nanjou, they undertake a process beyond simple summoning of a Devil from the Dark Realm...becoming tainted by their unnatural encounter with supernatural forces. Nanjou Shomonkai are accepted as members of the Nanjou Group or associates at the least, and may then learn about the true goals and nature of the Nanjou.

Quote:
Question: How do I obtain a COMP-Station Summoning Tool?

Answer: Any normal citizen with no current supernatural powers can obtain a COMP-Station Summoning Tool from the Nanjou Headquarters and use it to open a portal to the Dark Realm, drawing out a Demon to confront and convince to serve them [through dominant force, through persuasion, or through bribery]. This does come with some risk, but it is mostly downplayed.

The COMP-Station is an instant means to gain strength for those who no longer wish to be sitting ducks amidst all the chaos, but it is not a high-level power. There is also the risk upon the initial contact with the Dark Realm.

Quote:
Question: How do I become a Nanjou Shomonkai?

Answer: After purchasing a COMP-Station Summoning Tool and obtaining mastery over your demon, you may show your gratitude or devotion to the Nanjou Group by agreeing to work with them in order to bring about an end to the chaos in Inaba. By doing this, you will be allowed to undergo a process to gain a higher power and become an official member of the Nanjou Shomonkai.

Members of the Nanjou Shomonkai are strong, loyal to the Nanjou Group, but are often plagued by the revelation of what they have sacrificed for their power. Some, however, are not at all. There is a high risk to gaining this ascended power as well.

Question: I have a skill with random odds to be effective (a status skill, instant-death skill, or an attack with a random effect)...what are the odds that it will work?

Answer: Each of these has different odds that can change based on the complimentary skills that you have equipped to your character. A list of the odds for certain skills and modifications is as follows:

Status Skills (Rage, Eneveration, etc.): 1-4 Odds (Roll a dice 1-4 or RNG 1-4. If you roll a 1, the enemy will be affected by your status spell).
--Status Boost/Resistance Weakening - If you have a boost to your Status ability such as Poison Boost, or if you lower their Resistance using a spell like Stagnant Air, then the odds slant slightly in your favor, going from 1-4 to 1-3. If your OPPONENT has a resistance to that status (not a Null), it slants AGAINST you from 1-4 to 1-5. If the opponent has a Null for that status, then you cannot affect them with it unless you Break that Resistance.

Effects of Confusion: 1-4 odds each post, with your character acting in line with the actions dictated by the roll. Results are as follows. Note that if a character cannot fulfill the action (i.e. No allies to attack), it is automatically a 'Do Nothing' action.
1: Character attacks allies.
2: Character casts a support spell on the enemy (Dia, Tarukaja, etc.)
3: Character attacks the enemy (normal physical attack).
4. Character does nothing.

Effects of Fear: 1-4 odds each post, acting in line with the actions dictated by the roll. Results are as Follows.

1. Character is Paralyzed with fear and does nothing.
2. Character Flees battle in fear
3. Normal Action
4. Normal Action.

Random Effects: Random effects on weapons and physical skills are dependent upon the level of the effect. If it's low probability, 1-8 the random effect will be successful. Medium, 1-6. High, 1-4. Very high, 1-3. There are no abilities to change these odds. If the odds are unspecified (for example, a physical skill with "+Poison" as an effect), it is assumed to be Medium.

Question: What if I Null/Drain/Repel a skill that has a chance of an ailment? Do we still generate a number for the ailment?

Answer: No. Blocking a skill also blocks secondary effects of that skill, even if they're of a different element. Certain special or NPC-specific skills may be different, however, so please inquire if you're uncertain.

Low-Level Instant Death Skills (Hama, Mudo, Mahama, Mamudo that attempt instant death): 1-10 Odds (Roll a dice 1-10 or RNG 1-10. If you roll a 1, the enemy will be affected by your instant death/KO spell).
--Hama/Mudo Boost/Resistance Weakening - If you have a boost to your Hama/Mudo ability such as Hama/Mudo Boost, or if you lower their Resistance using a spell, then the odds slant slightly in your favor, going from 1-10 to 1-9. If your OPPONENT has a resistance to that status (not a Null), it slants AGAINST you from 1-10 to 1-11. If the opponent has a Null for that element, then you cannot affect them with it unless you Break that Resistance.

Med-Level Instant Death Skills (Hamaon, Mudoon, Mahamaon, Mamudoon): 1-6 odds.
--Boosts and Weakening: With a boost in your favor, odds become 1-5. With a resist in their favor, 1-7.

High-Level Instant Death Skills: 1-4 odds.
--Boosts and Weakening: With a boost in your favor odds become 1-3, with a resist in their favor 1-5.

Highest-Level Instant Death Skills: 1-3 odds.
--Boosts and Weakening: With a boost in your favor odds are 1-2, with a resist in their favor 1-4.

AMPS: On top of Boost skills, there are also Amp skills which raise your power in these spells higher. You CANNOT stack an Amp skill with a Boost skill. And if you use an Amp, you can increase odds bonuses in your favor by 2 instead of 1 except for the Highest Level Skills. You cannot manipulate the odds on those further than a boost [because the odds would reach 1-1, and you cannot automatically land an instant death spell.]

Quote:
Question: How do I count the posts for techniques with durations?

Answer: It's the number of posts (usually three) made by the person affected by the technique, so it will end after their third (or whatever the duration) move after the technique was used. If you cast it on yourself, that's the first turn.

Quote:
Question: How do Evasion Skills (like Evade Fire) work?

Answer: Evasion Skills, as the name implies, increase your ability to avoid attacks of a particular element. While we do not have RNG at this time for such things, you can consider that with an Evade skill, you can dodge attacks of that element "sometimes", and with True-Evade, you can dodge attacks of that element "regularly". Neither, however, will let you dodge all the time, especially against someone of a Higher Tier.

In addition, as a magical evasion, Evade and True-Evade skills are affected by speed buffs and debuffs. In other words, Evade can be enhanced by skills like Sukukaja (Evade would become like True-Evade), and weakened by skills like Sukunda.

FAQ Bonus Page! Choosing your Character's Path and/or Powers!

NOTE!! Remember that you will not receive immediate membership in most of the classes below, and you will have to earn your powers and position in one of the groups with your initial posts in the RP forums. This may take time, so please be patient and acquaint yourself with the RP, make friends, and through your bonds you will catch the eyes of those with powers who might include you in their group.

Quote:
Hey there,

I know that this Guild, at first glance, can be a little confusing and perhaps somewhat overwhelming. So let me be the first to welcome you (or your character, if this is not your first character), and give you some advice on how you should go about choosing what sort of character you will create, which powers you should aim for, and what the objective of your chosen team might eventually be!

For starters, there are several groups which you can currently join in the Guild. These groups are the following [Investigation Team (Persona 4 Team), SEES (Persona 3 Team), SEES-2 (Persona 3-style Team), Strega (Persona 3 Villains), Strega-Faithful (Persona 3-style Villains), Black Messiahs (Shadow Persona-Users, P4-style villains), Embryon (Digital Devil Saga Team), Devil Kings (Invitation Only DDS-style team), Yatagarasu (Devil Summoners, Raidou Kuzunoha-style warriors), Orochi (Invitation Only Devil Summoner-style villains), Demi-Fiends (Invitation-Only, Independent Nocturne-style Warriors), Shomonkai (Defunct organization of Devil Survivor-style warriors), Demons (Devil which have taken a human form, found throughout SMT lore), and Rogues (Former members of one group or another who have been kicked out of or no longer have a group)

[NOTE: When you are creating your profile, you will choose a format from the Character forum based on which group you aim to eventually join. There are no formats for some of the groups, so if you do not see one, then fill out an Original Character form and it will be edited when you are added to your new group later.

*With regards to this Guild, these are the main protagonists.
*Capable of using tarot cards to unleash the power of Persona (monsters summoned from the depths of a person's subconscious mind).
*Gain powers following an awakening either inside the Television World or at the hand of Soji Seta [the main protagonist]'s unique powers.
*Entry into this group is rare and exclusive, but always highly relevant/important to the plot, for the most active and dedicated RP'ers.
*This team fights together in the town of Inaba against the Black Messiahs primarily, but also any other threat to the town of Inaba.
*Their goal is to return peace to the town of Inaba by combating all major threats inside of it, and cleansing the TV World of all negative influences.
*They currently increase their power by raising their Social Links (forming bonds with friends and becoming closer and closer).
*Can obtain two additional Personae by obtaining the MAX Fool S. Link (with Soji Seta), and 9 MAX Social Links total.
*Obtain maximum power when they MAX all Social Links and clear at least one other major objective that is, as of yet, unknown.
*Lead by Soji Seta, the Guild's Protagonist, they frequently run missions to rescue people inside the television or combat major enemies in Inaba.
*Attend school regularly at Yasogami High, or live an otherwise equally normal life.

Quote:
*Probably the most limited class in the Guild; obtaining membership is extremely unlikely even in the best of circumstances.
*Use the insect-like parasites known as Magatama to switch Skills and Resistances.
*Magatama are obtained in three sets of three Magatama each, one at Max Fool for Social Links, the other at Max Death, with the Magatama obtained depending on the character's selected 'Reason'.
*Often unpredictable and very good at adjusting to different circumstances, frequently able to block an opponent's main offense and/or exploit their weaknesses.
*Often have layered Resistances, making attempting to get through their guards much more complicated.
*Characters are originally humans who, through currently mysterious means, have been transformed to have the body of a demon with the heart of a human.
*Explicitly unnatural beings; no Demi-Fiend comes about by chance, accident, or natural process. They are created intentionally, not born.
*Generally disliked by both humans and demons, thus largely unable to walk around in public or participate in many events.
*Also, in a sense, respected by demons, who often want the fame of defeating such a being... but exceedingly few have any hope of doing so.
*Strong emphasis on being played to follow their beliefs, whatever those beliefs actually are.

FAQ Bonus Page 2! Stages of Power!

NOTE!! Progression through the stages of power in any given group will always be different from another group. Some will level up faster than others, and villains tend to become powerful faster than heroes, with a slightly lower MAX Power obtainable. A few exceptions exist which may allow you to skip ahead faster in your progression, but these are few and far between, and almost always are the direct result of a plot-related bonus or event (given by Arena Emperor). NPC-level characters, aka characters introduced for the purpose of the plot who are not playable by anyone other than moderators, may not be beholden to these guidelines and may be introduced at higher levels of power. Often, however, this will also mean they cannot increase their power beyond the level they were introduced, or can only do so very rarely.

Keep this in mind as you examine the outlines below.

Quote:
Hey there,

I know that this Guild, at first glance, can be a little confusing and perhaps somewhat overwhelming. So let me be the first to welcome you (or your character, if this is not your first character), and give you some advice on how your characters can obtain their powers and then raise them to become stronger and stronger, until you are one of the more powerful characters in the Guild!

It will take a while to progress, but don't be discouraged! If you put in the time RP'ing and take advantages of the Guild bonuses offered occasionally, you will have plenty of opportunity to grow in strength and enjoy yourself in the Guild!

There are many groups, each with different types of power and almost all have unique means to increase them.

[NOTE: Some groups cannot be joined unless you receive an invitation. These are often NPC-level groups, and do not have a position within them for PCs (unless exceptions are made, which they occasionally are).

* ~::FAQ Question - "What Are the Reasons?"::~ *

Quote:
Shijima (Law)

Shijima is the Reason of Speed... or lack thereof. It is based on stillness and oneness. It is a world of perfect harmony, without self, without passion, without conflict, without destruction. Individuality is eradicated and there is simply a collective inner peace in which everyone is equal to God. This collective functions as cogs in the giant, stable machine that is the universe. It is a nihilistic, lawful Reason that is in someways related to the concept of Nirvana. Its demonic sponsor is Ahriman and is based on the Law Alignment.

Quote:
Musubi (Neutral)

Musubi is the Reason of Vitality. It is based on solitude and isolation. The self is absolute, and every living being would live in an independent world, completely separate from all other living beings. The individual could use their mind to shape their world at will into their own personal paradise, without consequences or unwelcome interference of others. The name Musubi may possibly refer to the mystical power of becoming or of creation in Shinto religion. It is a solitary Reason which resembles the philosophy of Rene Descartes. Its demonic sponsor is Noah, and is based on the Neutral Alignment.

Quote:
Yosuga (Chaos)

Yosuga is the Reason of Strength. It is a Reason based on elitism and survival of the fittest. Those who are useless and weak do not deserve to live and would be purged from society. Only those who are strong may rule, and power is acknowledged as the only thing of value. The weak will forever serve the strong. While the creator of Yosuga made this Reason in order to be safe from ever becoming weak or lower class, it is a Reason of paranoia and fear, in which one would always have to look over their shoulder and fear being overthrown. It is a chaotic reason that can be seen as related to the philosophy of Darwinism. Its demonic sponsor is Baal Avatar and is based on the Chaos Alignment.

Quote:
Akuma (Demon)

Akuma is the Reason of Magic. It is a Reason based on the presence of demons and fighting for what one believes, particularly against any who would seek to tell one what to do, which places its Alignment about halfway between Neutral and Chaos. It is also a Reason for those who seek the power to thwart the efforts of others, and its demonic sponsor is Ouranos.

Quote:
Mikomi (Hope)

Mikomi is the Reason of Luck. It is a Reason based on the ideal version of the world as it currently is, without imposing any major changes to it. Thus, unlike the previous Reasons, Mikomi is a Reason to fight for what one already has, instead of going out to change things to another ideal. In some ways, that makes it both weaker and stronger, since many people would prefer at least a moderate degree of change, and on the scale of alignment, it's about halfway between Law and Neutral. Its demonic sponsor is Aradia.

Unfortunately, Mikomi is a hopeless Reason, and cannot truly be considered a 'Reason' at all. Capable of only offering hope to its followers, those of this Reason cannot achieve victory over the other Reasons nor can they seize the rights which come with it.

Quote:
Bachiatari (True Neutral)

True Neutral is the absolute rejection of all Reasons. Sometimes called Bachiatari, its actual nature is that of not wanting to change the world and keep it as it is. In fact, it really doesn't deal with the world at all, because a True Neutral only cares to the extent that they're affected, and they have no wish to impose their beliefs on others. As more of a non-ideal than an ideal, True Neutral does not have a demonic sponsor or any real effects on the user.

Quote:
True Demon

Rejection of all Reasons and the World as it is, True Demons seek complete chaos, the overthrowing of time and the universe itself. Embracing the nature of the Demon completely, they submit themselves to the command of the Fallen Angel in thwarting creation and leading his forces against the True Enemy.

10,000th Page Celebration Class!
(If you were in the Guild when the 10,000th Page of the OoC was reached, you may create a character in this class...and another if that one is killed, etc.)

Uroborus
(Fusion Abominations)

Background
The Origins of the Uroborus begin with their leader. Once the only apprentice of the mysterious Ichiro Kuzunoha, he was the first subject to successfully undergo the Demonic Fusion Ritual which Ichirou would later use under the assumed name of 'Cesc Fabregas'. However, unlike those who would later join with Cesc and become members of his Orochi faction, this man's personality was too independent, with ambitions all his own. He knew of his ally's ambitions towards immortality...and that with the power of Cronus, it was quite likely that he might achieve it. And if Ichiro could live forever...there was no need for a successor in him. Therefore, expecting his master's eventually treachery and confident in his own abilities, he waited for his master to leave on a mission and abandoned what would later become the Orochi, leaving with many of the Ichiro line's great secrets stored inside of his head.

However, his ambitions were not the same as his former master...and the idea of a sacrifice in order to maintain a transformation had never quite suited him. He sought for a ritual that was more perfect; he believed that the only method through which you could overcome a flawed supernatural ritual was through the only power humans had ever created of their own that could rival a god...science. Thus he began his own mission, pursuing his own ends...selling his services to companies across the world for funding, supplies, and to make use of their own technologies and facilities for his own purposes. He was brilliant, ambitious, and ruthless...he could climb a company ladder in months and put the management under his thumb. In a matter of years he had gathered enough support and resources to form his own underground organization...all he had to do now was free himself from his previous obligations, though his superiors in all his previous engagements sought to force him to stay.

It was quite newsworthy, though the execution was flawless. A rash of murders...deaths amongst high-ranking CEOs in military and pharmaceutical companies. And amongst the 'dead' was a man that few outside of the company knew, but whose influence within the corporations knew quite well. ...Only, he wasn't dead. And with his stored resources he set out to create his own army, similar to his former master's plan to create the Orochi. And to buildup their strength he would use the secrets that he stole from the companies and the man who had once been his master.

His secret, underground facilities began to spring up all across the world, but like his 'master', he knew that he would only achieve the completion of his ambitions on the small island nation of Japan. Operating using that man's model, staying mobile, staying underground, and coming up for air only when the time was right, they have managed to remain a constant shadow of the one man left that they need to erase in order to preserve the secrecy of their Order. And now, the time has come to reveal themselves...to steal the final secrets of the Orochi for their own so that they can finish what their leader has started...

A perfect fusion of the supernatural with the power of science, to create a perfect world...fit for a man who would become like god.

The World of Uroborus.

Powers
-Members of the Uroborus are fused with a demon in a similar fashion to members of the Orochi. However unlike the Orochi, these fusions are forced, and their wrath is checked and subdued by the use of volatile chemicals synthesized by the Leader and the regular ingestion of an element that is pleasing to the fused demon. Regular injections of the Leader's serum must be taken in order to maintain the stability of their power. And regular ingestion of their demon's chosen element maintain their level of power and can heal small sounds/restore power to a degree.

-If the serum is not taken, or the user decides to release the power of the demon by will, the power of the demon will rapidly expand and mutate them into a demonic abomination...a mixture of man and demon that will only change and grow more terrible over time. Power continuously increases as the mutations grow, but it also grows more volatile and difficult to control. After a period of three posts, if an injection of the serum is not taken, the mutations will go out of control and the user will no longer be able to revert to their human form. Their abomination mutation will continue for another three posts after that at an even higher level of power...but at the end of three posts the demon will have fully devoured the host...and both demon and host will die.

-If the element is not regularly ingested by the user, their power will dramatically decrease until they have eaten a fair portion of the demon's preferred element. Also, if the user has not eaten their element recently, their unique abilities will be completely sealed away until they have eaten the element again.

-Uroborus members will, therefore, have 8 moves at levels similar to the Orochi Group. They will also have 2 Unique abilities (similar to the Orochi Soul Shard) and control 1 Element, which they must ingest on a regular basis to fuel their abilities, heal slightly, etc.

Also, if they fail to take their regular injection of the Uroborus Serum or purposely release their own seal, they will have 3 posts in an Abomination State of constant mutation to try and overwhelm their enemies...after 3 posts the drug MUST be ingested again to revert, otherwise, the transformation will last 3 more posts at an even higher level...but at the end of those 3 posts, the user WILL irrevocably be devoured by their own demon and die.

(Recap: Uroborus members are fused with a demon similar to the Orochi. Unlike the Orochi, they make no sacrifice, and instead keep the demons in check using a drug called the Uroborus Serum. This serum keeps the user from becoming a demonic, mutating abomination, and if not taken, the user will die. Uroborus members must also continually feed the demon to maintain the demon's power...this is done by ingesting an element the demon likes. If the element is not eaten, the demon's power will wane...and since siphoning the power of the demon for the user's abilities is dependent upon the demon having enough excess energy it cannot contain it, you must regularly devour your element. Failure to do so will render your Unique Abilities inert.)

Goals
-The Uroborus Leader's goals are fairly simple; he seeks godhood via creating a world filled with demons controlled by his Uroborus Serum. With every demon in the world under its influence, he would emerge as the dominant force in the world as the drug's creator and the heir to the title of Ichirou.

-Members of the Uroborus usually are of a similar mindset to their leader, or were simply desperate enough to be drawn into his experiment before they realized what they were getting themselves into. Once undergoing the ritual, however, they are bound to his will...as they require the Uroborus Serum only he has created in order to live. Though most do not have any issues with following his commands, those who would resist do not out of fear and self-preservation...the latter of which being a trait the Leader highly covets in those he recruits.

-Many who join the Uroborus were either suffering from an illness or harbored a fear of death that lead them to seek the 'immortality' that the Leader promised he could provide. In exchange for this gift they suffer the ritual of injections and have come to enjoy the practice of devouring an element as something only they could do. They follow their leader's wishes, reluctantly for some, under the promise that once his goals are realized he will release them into his new world to do as they please.

-One more imminent goal they harbor is to steal the rest of the secrets of the Ichirou bloodline from Cesc Fabregas...which they intend to use to perfect their own studies and rituals. This places them in direct opposition to the Orochi, as does their master's defection from service to that line of Kuzunoha, though they do not consider themselves allies of any other group which opposes the Orochi. They aren't above manipulating these other groups and pretending, however, when it is convenient to their cause.

Other Data

-They, like the Orochi, have several underground facilities located throughout Japan.

-Unlike the Orochi, they don't have any set hierarchy outside of their Leader.

-Like the Orochi, they are a very theme-oriented group. Each member has a unique Element ('elements' can be more complex than simple 'Fire', Water', etc...), Weapon, Abomination Transformation, and more.

-More may be added later...
