The young male lion stifled a sneeze and stepped out into the swamplands he had learned to call home. How long had it been now anyway? Certainly a few months at least. How time flew. He couldn't even remember the scents of home any more, his old home anyway. And though he missed it greatly he was clearly settled and enjoying his new life amongst the swamps.

He shook his mane and stepped out into the sunshine, enjoying its warmth playing across his golden back. He breathed in deeply and set his stride into a swift trot across the lands, being careful to watch where he trod in case he dirtied his pelt with mud. He didn't want to spend a whole lot of time grooming today!

His belly grumbled a little as he moved onwards and he immediately wondered if anyone in the pride had hunted recently.

Kataa'tamaa was out for a walk. Her family was busy, off doing their own things, and she was fine with that. It was good to see them adjust and enjoy, and good to feel herself adjusting and enjoying. She had a job, responsibilities but she had also developed her own routine. She was out for a walk, following a path she normally followed, heading for the lovely little spot she had picked out with her granddaughter. She had not yet starting socializing widely with the rest of the pride, though she was not isolating herself.

She was walking along peacefully when she noticed a quick moving golden lion heading her way. The old lioness paused and moved so she would be out of the way, unable to keep from watching him go but still continuing slowly on her way.

( eep, sorry, forgot we had two RPs going @_@ and yus, that's fine! )

He looked up at her and smiled. Her pride member he hadn't met yet! Wonderful! Since finding his new name he was always eager to introduce himself and here was a perfect opportunity. He drew towards her, pausing a polite distance away and bobbed his head in a sort of half-attempted bow.

"Hello there." He thought her colours soft and comforting. Her eyes, too, were friendly. "I'm Beshtetu." He announced with much pride. "You're of the Jini'msemi, I assume? It's nice to meet you. I haven't seen you around but then again, I'm new, too. I came here not too long ago with my friend - my mate - Kimya."

Tamaa wasn't terribly surprised by how friendly the lion was, and how conversational he seemed to be. She didn't have to converse frequently to know most of the lions would be so kind and friendly.

"Hello," she responded brightly, and listened quietly as he gave a rather complete introduction of himself, "I'm Kataa'tamaa, it is very nice to meet you Beshtetu. My family is quite new around here, though we've always belonged here. I came with the large group that arrived sometime ago, with my son, his mate, their cubs and my cousins."

"Nice to meet you, too." He dipped his head. Kataa'tamaa, he liked the sound of that name. He drew forth both ears to listen, his eyes widening with realisation. "Oh! You came with the group that arrived a little while back? I'd heard about that but I haven't met any yet, well...not until today, that is!" He smiled.

He wasn't sure whether it was rude to ask, but decided to anyway. "You've always belonged here? Did you....go on extended name quests?" He knew some could be out on name quests for a very, very long time, but for her to have grandchildren, that would have been a very long time indeed.

"It must be nice to be back, in any case, to the place you know as home. Home is very important." He knew that more than anything.

"Oh, not exactly," she responded with a quiet laugh, "My father and his brother left these lands during the flood. They stayed loyal to religion and tradition from home, though. We were all raised as we might have been here, name quests included, just without the swamp itself." Tamaa looked around with a smile.. she was extremely grateful she lived long enough to see it, and see the family return. It was only too bad not everybody had been able to do so.

"It is very good to be home, though," she agreed finally, looking back to Beshtetu, "Anyway, you said you were new? Where are you from?"

"Wow!" He was amazed and inspired by such dedication. They had continued the ways of the pride even when they were not in its lands, raised the new generations and gone on name quests. It sounded difficult, but then again, it sounded as if they had worked well together. "Then you must be exceptionally happy to be back after all that time."

"That's right." He nodded. "I'm from the Pridelands, you may have heard of it? It's a pleasant enough place but...well, it's hard to explain. The pride was so busy, so crowded and yet I was really lonely. I think I was lonely my whole life until Kimya came along. I was sad to leave my family, but the lands where they are, it's not home anymore."

He shook his head, saddened by that. "Is it wrong, do you think, to not love the place of your birth?"

"We are, very happy," she agreed, thinking of the young ones and then the new young ones, new families, that would not be had they not come back. Always grateful, that was how she felt now.

"I have heard of it," Tamaa nodded as she listened to what Beshtetu explained about his own life, "I don't think it's wrong, your life doesn't always finish in the same place it starts. What's important is that it was happy. It sounds to me like you're happy." She didn't have a whole lot to judge from but he was friendly, polite, sweet, mentioned his mate several times and implied that this was his home now. Her primary assessment would be that he was happy.

"I am." He agreed wholeheartedly. "Very happy." He dipped his head. "It was nice to meet you. I should be getting back now, I was gone a bit longer than I thought I would." He blinked and smiled. "I expect I'll see you around, though? Perhaps I can meet some of the rest of your family that came here with you?"

Tamaa was very glad to hear him agree that he was happy, and she was not at all concerned when he started a goodbye. This was about as far as one could expect a first meeting in passing to go, she would certainly like to see him around, too. It was one thing Tamaa had that she could do, that she enjoyed. She could observe, watching others was almost always interesting.

"I'm sure you will," she responded to both remarks with a smile, "See you then." Wasting no time for awkwardness, she happily strode by and continued on her walk.
