xxPandaLove (9:21:36 PM): Tekenya was standing watch over the motley group of lions he was a part of. Most of them were asleep but he could see a couple of them were still awake. The Savannah was dark, the only light coming from the moon and the stars. His tail twitched and he turned away from the five other lions to look out over the grass land. He wasn’t sure where they were going but he trusted Hitaahita to lead them in the right direction. He had been with the purple lion since they were both juves and he had never taken them in the wrong direction. His mind drifted to the others and he had to smile, they had become like a family over time. Even Mysmyr, the newest addition to the group, had settled in well.
The sandy lion scratched at the dirt and grass with his claws leaving scores in the earth. He always got bored when it was his turn to guard the group during the night, there was no one to talk to and he couldn’t exactly do much too keep himself occupied lest he didn’t notice a potential threat. Sighing he watched the empty horizon with alert golden eyes waiting for any potential threat.
nessiaing1102 (9:39:50 PM): Semira had risen from he sleeping position she was having problems sleeping tonight. Of course this was fairly common, she found hard to sleep as she was always afraid someone might attack while she was asleep.
She approached the lion that was on duty, he hadn't noticed her yet, but that was probably due to the fact she was black and approaching from behind. Her red eyes were glued to his back, trying to figure out the best way to approach him. They had been travelling together for so long, yet she was still uncomfortable approaching the members of her group and actually caring on a conversation.
xxPandaLove (9:58:48 PM): Since it was his job to be alert Tekenya caught the sounds of footsteps coming up from behind him. He pondered for a moment and decided that it was most likely one of the lions from their troupe. Turning slowly he blinked at first not seeing anyone, but then he spotted Semira’s red eyes and the body that was attached. He smiled at her before speaking.
”Hello Semira, nice night isn’t it?” He spoke quietly as to not wake the other lions. ”What’re you doing awake?”
nessiaing1102 (10:07:07 PM): Semira moved up beside Tekenya, "Just one of those nights I guess" Semira whispered back to him. It wasn't that much of a secret to the pack that Semira had problems sleeping at night, with reoccurring nightmares about the loss of her family. "So do you think we are far off the pride lands we are looking for" She asked timidly, she was excited about coming to a new pride and being welcomed in (hopefully), but she was also mildly afraid of being around so many other lions. It brought thoughts of safety and fear to her.
She shifted her weight slightly looking around the surrounding area, it was really quite here, she actually began to settle down and feel comfortable.
xxPandaLove (10:13:54 PM): Tekenya nodded slightly, he’d had those nights before. Usually when he was remembering the last time he had seen his parents. The lion gave himself a mental shake, he didn’t need to be thinking of that now. Catching her question Teke shrugged slightly. ”I’m not sure, Hita seems to know where he’s going so it can’t be too long before we get there.” His ears flickered as he continued. ”It’ll be nice to actually arrive and be able to stop traveling, sometimes I think my paws are going to fall off we’ve been walking so long.” He glanced at the black lioness and chuckled softly.
nessiaing1102 (10:25:57 PM): Semira smiled at Teke's joke, but at the same time she glanced down at her own paws remembering how some days it did feel like her feet were going to fall off. Semira noticed the sandy lion's ears twitching and felt her nerves bubbling up in her again. "Did you hear something, is there someone coming this way" She knew that she sounded mildly ridiculous but the thought that someone could attack her group, that she might be on her own again was one of her biggest fears and she wasn't sure she could handle it all happening again
xxPandaLove (10:34:28 PM): The scarred lion smiled in return and then looked off into the distance. He was about to open his maw to speak but was cut off by Semira’s worries. Looking down at her he shook his head moving slightly closer to the female. ”No one’s comin’ this way ‘mira, no need to worry, I just have to keep alert.” He nudged her gently with his muzzle before continuing. ”And even if anything shows up I can protect us.” He grinned, puffing out his chest, oh yes he was a big strong protector all right.
nessiaing1102 (10:42:50 PM): Semira sighed realizing that Teke wouldn't let her fall into danger. He made her feel safe, "Sorry for doubting you Teke, I know you would protect us.' Teke was great for that she thought, he was always making her smile, and tonight he was being really great company. He knew about her past so he was generally very understanding about it where as others sometimes lost their temper with her, and her fears.
xxPandaLove (10:50:57 PM): Teke smiled and shrugged a bit. ”It’s alright,” He would gladly protect anyone in what he liked to call his extended family. He had become close to them, even if a few of them found him highly annoying, which he had to admit he could be, but he couldn’t help it. Deciding that there was no immediate danger Tekenya settled down into a sitting position his tail curling around his haunches. ”I wonder what this pride were heading to will be like, it’s going to be strange being a part of a larger group. I’m so used to it just being us six.”
nessiaing1102 (11:04:52 PM): Semira thought about the idea of being in a larger group, it would be weird, she had gotten use to the group of six being together and although they were all fairly different and each had their quirks and it made the group dynamic very interesting. She was unsure how the group would handle being tossed into a large dynamic. She hoped everyone would find their way and be able to make friends. She was hoping that she would find added security in the large group, and maybe the chance to grow areal family of her own. "What are you most looking forward to in our new home?"
xxPandaLove (11:36:56 PM): At the inquiry Tekenya paused pondering the thought, ”Being able to stop wandering, and meeting more lions I think. As close as we all are we grate on each other’s nerves sometimes. It’d be nice to see some new faces.” He wondered if everyone would be able to fit in to the new pride, if not they at least had each other. ”What about you, ‘mira?”
nessiaing1102 (11:48:10 PM): She thought about what she was looking foward to, "I think I am looking forward to meeting others, and being back in a pride. I really did like my pride when I was a child. I think one day I would like to start a family too and in a pride would be safer for them."
Semira looked back up at Teke smiling, the thought of starting a family was something she was very interested in but at the same time something that made her really nervous, but then again what didn't make her nervous. Semira stood again to look around where her group had settled, there was no real need for her to look around but she did it out of habit, to calm her nerves again.
xxPandaLove (11:59:12 PM): Teke nodded ”I’ve never been part of a real pride but the idea of it is appealing. I guess we could be considered sort of a miniature pride, but I think we’re more like a strange family.” He flickered his ears again checking for any noises and relaxing when there seemed to be none. Looking over to Semira he smiled. ”You’ll make some lion very happy one day,” His tail flickered across the grass as he spoke again. ”I wouldn’t mind having a family one day, but I’m not sure I’d be a very good father.”
nessiaing1102 (12:16:22 AM): Semira smiled at Teke's lack of confidence about his fathering ability, " Oh come on Teke you would make a great father, cubs will love you. You are fun and playful, its just the discipline you would lack in." She chuckled to herself it was hard to picture Teke handing out a punishment to anyone, much less a cub he loved. She smiled at the compliment he gave her, "I hope I can find a lion to make happy someday. I am just afraid no one will take the time to get to know me. I mean how long have we been friends and I am just starting to be able to talk freely to you." Semira blushed slightly at admitting how uncomfortable she was when she first joined the group. Lucky for her her black fur hid any bashfulness.
xxPandaLove (12:29:19 AM): Tekenya laughed at her words and nodded. ”Yes, I suppose I’d have some trouble with discipline.” He had a feeling that whatever future mate he found would have to do most of the disciplining. That got him to thinking about what kind of lioness could put up with him, he knew he talked quite a lot and that it wore on other lions after a while. Hearing her words he chuckled. ”Oh I’m sure you’ll find a nice lion that’ll take the time. Any lion that doesn’t want to bother getting to know you isn’t worth your time anyways. Even if you take a while to open up you’re a very interesting and caring lioness underneath.” He glanced out over the Savannah after he spoke, balancing his guard duties with their conversation.
nessiaing1102 (12:42:32 AM): Semira admired the fact that he was able to talk to her and pay attention to there conversation. It made her feel safe and kept her distracted from her irrational fears that often took over her mind. It was unfortunate that her fur was so dark making it hard for her sometimes to be out during the day with the sun beating down on her, but at night her fears ran wild. "I supose your right Teke, there will be lots to be found there, and so many new lions to meet. Who knows what will be held there for us, perhaps we will both find our ideal mate."
She shifted her weight again, realizing how tired the days journey had actually made her, "Well Teke, I think I need to go back to bed. Thank you for keeping me company. I will be able to sleep soundly knowing you are on guard." She gave the lion a quick nudge before turning and heading back towards where the rest of the group was sleeping, choosing a spot between the other two lions in the group.. she preferred to be in the middle of the group just gave her that added sense of security.
xxPandaLove (12:51:10 AM): At her words he smiled ”That would be a nice thing indeed.” Noticing Semira getting restless he stood up as well. After she spoke he nodded. ”Sleep well, ‘mira.” He watched her until she was safely settled between two of the others and then he turned to face the open Savannah once more, protecting his mismatched family.
