His large form moved swiftly, and somehow, elegantly, through the swamps -- weaving between trees, and jumping over large protruding roots, as he ran. Domevlo was after something. His ears were perked and his glassy gold eyes were trained on it. He was advancing. The distence between rustle in the reeds and ripples in the water before him was getting smaller and smaller. He was about to pounce, but then, from the murky water, a loud splash sounded, as a crocodile lept out, and in its jaws, took Domevlo's target - a rabbit. Domevlo stopped just short of having lept. His eyes widened at the sudden sight.
The croc seemed satisfied enough, though, having stolen the large lion's prize, and swam off. Domevlo let out a sigh. "You probably needed it more than me," he said aloud to himself, in a voice soft enough to be mistaken for a whisper, but that held a roughness, as if it were seldom used.
A cool wind blew, and Domevlo looked to the sky - through the canopy of the trees, the sky was a warm orange. Night was soon to come. So, Domevlo turned, and headed back to the heart of the pride's lands. He was in no hury, though. He just wanted some distance between himself and that crocodile before night was upon them both.

If she had known a croc had been spotted not far from here she wouldn't have been playing about as she did when she was a cub. The swamp slime covered logs that lay over parts of the water was where she spent most of her time. She loved to try and cross them without slipping which wasn't an easy job! She found that the slime seemed to just get worse every time she walked across it, though she couldn't work out why. It didn't really matter though she continued to try going across it anyway.
She had already failed at walking across it so this time she was on her belly creeping along it slowly. She refused to use her claws because she knew that it would be cheating! She slowly made her way along before yet again she slipped and with a rather large splash fell into the murky water below. It was only a matter of seconds before her head broke through the surface and she was climbing up onto the shore in no time.
"Stupid log." She muttered as she laid herself down on the bank while watching the log. She smelt somewhat now and didn't look exactly attractive but there she was anyway, not caring in the slightest what she looked or smelt like. There had to be some way across that log and she wasn't going to leave until she found out how to do it without cheating!

Domevlo was walking by the area, just as the lioness resurfaced. Thinking it was another crocodile at first, he tansed, ears flattened, and eyes narrowed. His expression promptly changed, when he noticed,.. It wasn't a crocodile.
"And what crime has the log commited?" He asked in jest, walking towards the dirty lioness.

She turned to look at where the voice had come from and smiled before laughing.
"Ah the log has committed a crime most terrible. It will not allow me across without making sure that I fall into the water below. It is such a selfish log to not allow me to cross." She spoke as if over dramatizing the events that had just happened and doing so with a large smile on her face.
"My and what are you doing out here? Surely the logs haven't gotten to you too?" She teased a little, she saw no harm in teasing or having fun. What was life if you couldn't have any fun?

"No. The logs have been nothing but compliant. I was heading back to the heart of the lands, after having lost my quarry to a hungrier beast than I." Domevlo explained with much amusement.
He smiled as best he could, although the action never came out quite right, looking more like a grimace, or a smirk.
"Now, might I ask why is it that you desire to cross the villainous log? It is perhaps not best to play in the water. The beast that stole my dinner dwells swiftly within them, and in the coming night, it would be a shame for it to take you as desert."

Asha chuckled at his response, slightly amused that he was playing along.
"Well at least someone is having some luck with these logs!" She was slightly curious about this hungrier beast and then he went on to talk about it eating her. Crocodile? She had never actually seen one in the swamps though she knew they were there.
"Hmm in which case the log may have won today. I don't feel like being dessert that is for sure. Thank you for telling me that." She was being a little more serious and kept eyeing up the water wondering if it was about to jump out at her.
"Oh I am Asha by the way. I don't think we have met?" She smiled still as she spoke though it was clear she wasn't all that sure about the water at the moment. She had only ever played and messed about when it came to crocodiles, she hadn't ever met one and never intended to either.

"Domevlo," He introduced. "Indeed, we haven't."
A cool wind blew, promising late night storms. Once again, he cast a golden-eyed stare up to the sky, where warm hues were begining to give way to cool blues.
"Perhaps we should head home?" Sure enough, the entire swamp was 'home,' but more specifically, for Domevlo, it was the dry isle amidst the swamp, where the pridal dens lay. Outside of that, one could go all day without seeing another, but once inside, it reminded Domevlo that he was finally a part of a community, and that was something he thought he would never have.

"It is nice to meet you Domevlo." She smiled and then nodded as he continued to talk.
"Yes you are right especially if there is something lurking in the waters." She smiled and trotted over to him, still looking a mess and probably smelling bad but she cared as little now as she did earlier.
"So what were you doing out here then? If the logs were being nice to you there must have been some other reason?" She chuckled a little. She couldn't help bringing the logs up again, it just amused her. It was the fight between Asha and the log, round one went to the log. She wouldn't tell anyone that part of the story though. A log beating a lion? No it didn't sound right.

Beginning the small journey home, Asha was just about dwarfed next to Domevlo. He cared little about what a mess she had gotten in - in fact, he had no right to judge. He was just thrilled each time his own lack of aesthetic pleasantry was looked over.
"I occassionally patrol, doing odd jobs here and there," he explained.

"I guess it's nice to know someone is looking out for the pride." She was sure he wasn't the only one but still she hadn't met anyone doing patrols before and so it was nice to actually know they did happen and it wasn't just a rumour. Then again she rarely stayed with anyone as she was always off trying to find her own little drama's to act out. It seemed since returning she had become a cub again. She was just so happy.
"Do you patrol every day? It must get lonely sometimes... or do you do it with others?" She had questions in fact she could probably come up with enough questions to bore him to death but she did know when to stop, thankfully.

Domevlo had monumentous patience - questions he could deal with. He happened to be fairly long-winded himself, sometimes.
"Only when I'm not needed for anything else. It does, sometimes, though. Occassionally though I'll find someone looking to gain entrance into the pride. I'll admit, I'm not the most trusting of outsiders, and I have my reasons for that, but I have seen some that remind me that the world outside these lands does has some virtue."

She smiled and listened happily.
"Have you had bad experiences then?" She wasn't bothered if he didn't tell her what they were she was just curious. She liked to get to know people. She was a curious thing, she liked to know things but she also liked to play and if she they conflicted she had a habit of getting a bit confused. So if someone told her to stop playing because she was too old it would get to her and she would most likely decide that it wasn't actually knowledge because it wasn't true.
"Oh and what else do you do? Like in your free time? Oh and if I am talking too much by all means tell me to shut up!"

"I,..hn," Domevlo began, on the topic of bad experiences. His story was truely etched on every part of his face. In the end, he inded up meerly nodding.
"No, I do not mind listening. I'm always doing something. I've never had a need for 'free time'. After all, all I have is the pride. Serving it in whatever way possible is the only think I could think of doing. This place accepted me when all others did not. For that, I owe it my everything."
His whole life - or what he could remember of it anyway - had been spent looking for love and acceptance. Somewhere in there darkness had beset in his once kind and benevolent soul, but in the end, that too dissipated, and once more the persuit continued. But once the search was over, a new one began. The psychology of the large lion was one large, never-ending spiral. Like life, death, and rebirth,...

"They would be silly not to accept you! You are so nice and seem so in love with the pride." Asha smiled as she spoke and flicked her tail a little behind her. She didn't mind if he didn't want to talk about things, after all she wasn't really one to pry into others worlds.
"If you do get free time you could always come and attack the trees with me. The slimey ones are the hard ones they just don't let you cross them." She smiled looking completely normal though sounding as if she was a little insane, but that was Asha. She really was a strange little girl.

"Some prides are vain. Others are intimidated,..." he shrugged. "Attack trees?" Domevlo furrowed a brow. As she explained, he got a vague idea of what she meant. "Isn't that a bit dangerous? If you were to somehow get hurt,..." Well, he just hoped someone would be nearby to help.
