Unfortunately, when Emily read the baby book suggestions of what one 'could' do with their little one, she read it more as suggestions of what one 'should' do with their little one. Which meant, so far, everything from buying appropriate toys to spending the day at the pool, to gym classes, to...well, a cooking class.

While Clara was still too little to do most of the tasks involved in cooking, these classes were dedicated to helping you figure out how to include your small one (anywhere from toddler to younger child) in cooking. Emily had signed up for one class to see how it went-- just in case she felt like Clara wasn't enjoying it.

So far, though, the little mouse seemed a quiver with excitement, her little nose twitching like there was no tomorrow over the smells of the building as other cooking classes went on around them. The woman walked into the classroom with a bit of anxiety, looking around. There were a few others with small ones like Clara, but most of the children were slightly older and more able to, say, stir the contents of a bowl without spilling them everywhere.

Still, Emily had decided to try this and she was certain Clara would try to make as little mess as possible. And if she didn't? Well, the mouse was washable.

A boy, maybe a few years older than Clara, was presently walking around and talking to the younger kids, helping them get set up and whatnot. While Phineas really didn't need to learn about cooking - his mother showed him most of that stuff - the boy was rather helpful and had volunteered to assist with making sure the younger kids in the class understood. The child was surprisingly agile with his antlers, turning his head to keep from bumping them into anyone or anything.

When he spotted Clara and Emily, he smiled, waving a bit. "Hi there."

Emily had gathered the supplies she'd need (according to the teacher) with the mouse clinging to her, and then settled Clara on the table, handing her a box of pasta she'd also picked up so the little girl could shake it and enjoy the noise while Emily figured out what was what.

Clara shook the pasta box for a moment, but then was pleasantly distracted by Phineas. Shy, she peered at him from around her adoptive mother,
"Hi."

Emily smiled down at the boy as well, "Hello there.."

Emily nodded-- cooking real meals certainly wasn't something she was used to. Usually at the Haven they'd just made do with whatever they had-- as long as it was edible, it didn't have to look or taste nice because it kept them from starving to death. Every so often Xi would actually cook something, because he seemed to somehow know more about it than she did, but other than that...

"I've never really done this before," she admitted, "I'm not sure how exactly everything works."

Clara nodded sagely,
"Not know," she piped up.

"Ah. Well don't worry. I can help you." the boy assured them. "My mother has shown me how to cook a lot." Phineas moved carefully nearer to the pair, to show them how to set up. The class had a specific way they liked people to begin and be ready. "Have you washed your hands?"
