He barely spoke, resigning himself to listening to his own thoughts and the thoughts of that goddess who had broken his mind. She was mad, he decided quickly. Her thoughts so sporadic and random that she couldn't have been 'normal'. She was like a child in an adult's body. Or almost an adult anyway.
But now the Goddess had taken her leave. What had she said again? Gone to find something? Well, good riddance. At least her thoughts weren't so loud now, more like a faded echo like the whispers of ghosts on the wind.
His head sagged and his eyes half-closed. He looked...miserable.

Illena felt so helpless, there was hardly anything she could do to make the situation better. She had calmed the goddess down, who had set off to find her friend who would, hopefully, be able to help Cassian return to normal. She sighed as she stood and made her way over to the male she came to depend on.
"Cassian..."
He looked so...terrible. Unhappy. And it pained her, greatly, to see him so miserable. "I..." She didn't know what to say. She was afraid, afraid that he would snap at her at any minute. She no longer knew what to expect.

He looked up at her, startled from his trance-like state. Oh right, he wasn't alone was he? Illena was here. Oh but he wished she wasn't. He hated that look in her eyes. Hated the way she spoke.
When had this happened?
When had he started to care?
He'd been a bitter youth with no wish for friends unless they could help him in some way. He'd convinced her to join him on his journey not because he wanted a friend but because he wanted someone to hunt for him so he wouldn't die of starvation due to his eyes. So, when had that changed? When had she become more than that? More than a friend, even?
He felt his heart twinge at the look on her face and knew he loved her. Knew his heart had been telling him for a while. But he couldn't tell her so because it wasn't right. Not now.
He turned his head away. "Maybe you should...go on without me." He replied, his throat thick. At least if she was away from him she could find some sort of happiness instead of being trapped and used by him.

She felt a ping in her heart from his words. What was he suggesting? She wouldn't leave him, she couldn't! He meant far to much to her for her to leave him. She depended on him and besides, he was her first, and only friend. No he was more than that to her. So much more.
"I can't," she told him, shaking her head. "I won't." She refused to leave him, he needed her didn't he? More importantly she needed him, regardless of his flaws, of the damage that had been done.
She cared about him a lot. "I don't want to leave."

She wouldn't leave him? Truly? Even after everything that had happened? Even now that his mind was broken. He opened his mouth to respond. To tell her that it meant a lot to him that she was there. But before he could utter a word the buzzing in his head increased and he knew the Goddess was returning.
With a moan he buried his snout into the ground and covered his head with his paws.
She came tumbling out of the sky in her typical fashion, landing on her feet at an awkward angle which sent her toppling head over heels. She crashed through the undergrowth towards them and came to an ungraceful halt on her back. For a moment she seemed dazed and the golden snake bangles shimmered, seeming to momentarily come to life. And then they returned to being jewellery again and Rokopelli straightened, her face full of confusion.
Her mis-matched eyes darted to the male as she absorbed his thoughts from the close vicinity.
Shaking her head, she turned to look at Illena. "We're back. Now we can go. We have good idea of where to go. Good, good idea, yes indeedses!" She moved towards the pale female.

As he started to say something she inched forward, heart thudding in her chest, wondering what he might have to say. Would he scold her, or comfort her? Tell her that she didn't need to go...But she wasn't given the opportunity to hear what he wanted to say for the goddess plunged into the ground before them.
"Rokopeli," Illena greeted her with a small smile and a dip of her head. She couldn't let the dear be frightened or worried, she might take off then and things would never be resolved. "What do you mean?"

Her eyes were bright with resolve. "We're Confusion. See? Confuse you. Him. Even ourselves! We do things wrong. Make mistakeses. Sometimes do bad things but not talking about that now. We need to set this straight else real Mummy will come to hurtses us. Killses us, even!" She shuddered and let her eyes fall upon Cassian.
"We going to find another Goddess. Good Goddess who can fix him." She blinked and smiled. "We going now." And with a giggle she focused her energies and used her telekinesis to drag the bulk of Cassian to his paws.
"Come, let us go!" She whirred. She was always like this, shifting from one mood to the other without any warning. One moment frightened and panicked, the next childlike and innocent again.
Cassian bristled as an invisible force pulled him to his paws and for a moment it seemed like he might lash out at her again. But he refrained himself, narrowing his eyes and taking a step forwards.
The echo of her spoken words rang in his mind and he shook his head fiercely.
"Do you even know where you're going?"
~Careful, Pelli, he might hurtses us.~
~I hurt him if he tries it, Roko~
He stiffened and growled deep in his chest, shifting closer to Illena.

Illena nodded, she gathered as much from their last meeting. Surely this young goddess was simply, confused, she supposed chuckling inwardly. There was still plenty of time for Roko to learn. She was sure that one day she'd understand how to use her powers correctly. "What goddess?" she inquired tilting her head as she stepped toward the other female.
She glanced at Cassian and shook her head. "I know you aren't happy Cassian but try to play nice?" If she wasn't careful he could snap and if he did, there was no telling what Roko might do in defense. "Take a deep breath, it'll be over soon." She told him even though she wasn't sure herself but if she didn't have hope they would get no where.

She shrugged. "Don't know yet. Going to find her, though. See, there Gods and Goddesses for eveything. We're confusion. Friend is Youth. Mother was...welll...don't remember, not important. Then there's Juuku, he's Surf. And Pele who's volcanoes. Oh, oh and then there's Mummy Koya. Not seen her for long time."
She blinked, clearing her head, catching the threatening thoughts in Cassian's head. She 'eeped' and sidled away.
"We'll leadses the way!" And she bounced off, somewhat hastily.
"It won't be over soon." Cassian mumbled, watching the Goddess skip ahead of them. "She has no idea what she's doing." And yet they had to follow, for where else would they find the cure to his broken mind?
He growled and set off after her, head low, brow knitted.

"It'll be over sooner if you don't think such negative thoughts." She replied shaking her head. She felt bad, with the way she was scolding him, but he needed to hear it. Otherwise he'd still be incredibly bitter. "Give her a chance, she wants to fix things," she told him quickening her pace to keep up with him.
"Just try, for me?" She asked a small frown upon her lips as she watched him, hoping that he'd at least try for her. She wanted him to be happy and if being 'fixed' meant making him happy then she wanted it so much.
"Please?"

He bit back an angry response, knowing full well that it would make her sad or maybe angry herself. She was only trying to help, after all. He held his tongue and turned his head to look ahead, squinting a little to see the way better.
"Fine. I'll try." He replied. But deep down he didn't hold much hope for the future...
