As the sound of running water became louder, Brioso quickened her pace into a gallop, excited at the prospects of cooling down. When the sparkling water finally came into view, the young mare jumped into the air, landing in the river with with a loud 'splash'. Pushing her head out of the water, she pulled herself to her full height, giggling while shaking water off her mane.
"Ah... This is so much better!" She cheered, walking in circles in the river; she was glad she grew taller from her foal-self, as the water now reaches her shoulders instead of over her head.

Lorraine was feeling a little grumpy from the muggy weather. She didn't like being grumpy as it made her feel even worse, adding guilt into the matter. Her brow furrowed as the mare sighed. Once again she was feeling like she should have stayed home.
Purple ears perked at the sound of splashing and she looked up. Had she been so oblivioud wandering that she hadn't noticed she was in the mountains? It was a slightly sad concept. The splashing was near, which meant water. Water was usually cool. And if she found it, her mood would surely lighten up.

Climbing out of the water was difficult - not because it was physically hard to do so, but because being submerged in the cool liquid was comfortable and enjoyable... She just didn't want to leave. Sighing wistfully, Brioso walked one more round in the river, splashing a little using her head, before climbing up onto dry land again.
She shivered a little as a breeze blew past her, and begun to dry herself, shaking her body, then tail and head. Water flew in all directions as she did, and by the time she was mostly dry, there was water everywhere else as well as some still clinging stubbornly to her pelt. Of course, what little water there helped her keep cool, so she ignored it and bent over the river to get a refreshing drink.
"Ah..." The mare sighed happily as the cool water slipped down her throat, her tail swinging side to side.

Lorraine smiled as she came uppon the water source and the source of the splashing. A young mare had just climbed out of the water and she decided that it would be pleasent to anounce herself and was just about to when she mare shook. She must have really wanted that water off because Lorraine got sprayed with it.
It wasn't so bad, being sprayed with the water, just slightly starttling. She stood there for a moment before giggling and the abruptly stopping when she remembered the younger mare did not know she was here. She cleared her throat to keep more giggles back as she prepared to introduce herself.

Maybe the heat was getting to her, but Brioso didn't realized the stranger there. When she heard the other mare though, the female frowned a little; it was unlike her to not notice someone else being there. Turning around, she grinned apologetically, "Sorry about the water! Didn't see you there just now..."
She paused, peering at the other, a comfortable silence between them. Did she forget something important...? Looking embarrassed for a second, Brioso laughed nervously, "Oh, wait! Better introduce myself! I'm Brioso, its nice to meet you."

Lorraine giggled as she nodded, "No need! Its quite alright. This heat is something else." She tossed her pink and purple bangs from her green eyes and returned her gaze to the other female.
"Its nice to meet you, Brioso. My name is Lorraine, but if you would rather, you can call me Lorri." She gave a soft smile before indicating the water. "You wouldn't mind if I joined you, would you?"

It was interesting how most of the Soquili she had met over Summer found the heat unbearing; was winter going to be the opposite? At the thought, Brioso frowned a little - she had never experienced winter, but it doesn't sound too fun. Pushing all of her negative thoughts to the back of her head, the young mare shifted, as if inviting the other mare over to join her at the river.
"Sure!" Brioso replied with a grin, gesturing towards the space beside her with a hoof. Chuckling softly, she added, "You didn't have to ask... The river don't belong to me, after all!".

"No harm in being polite. Perhaps you hadn't wanted company? That would be awkward."
Lorraine came to the river and stood completly in it untill it was just above her hooves. The sudden chill of the water passing over her ankles sent shivvers up all four of her leggs and through her spine. It may not have been much but it certainly helped to cool her off. She bent her head, her naturally-always-untidy-no-matter-what-she-did-to-it-shaggy mane fell into her face and she drank deeply from the cold water, stopping when the coldness was making her head ache. She raised her head, mane slightly wet at the ends and water running from the ends down her neck, turned and grinned at Brioso.
"I'm really happy I heard you splashing arround. Its a very hot day and this water is just what I needed."

Brioso nodded and gave a chuckle, "That's true!"
The young mare smiled as she watched the other drink from the river, her tail swishing almost rhythmically. After a moment, however, Brioso felt thirsty again; blushing a little, she dipped her head down to the river beside her new acquaintance and started drinking, lapping at the water happily. The only good thing about the intense heat, was that it felt extra fulfilling to cool down afterward.
"I'm glad you came by too," The female grinned a little as she straightened up, sighing contently. Turning to Lorraine, she continued cheerfully, "I like company."

Lorri raised her head once she felt significantly better, no longer thirsty and a bit cooler. She too turned to the mare next to her and smiled. "Well I guess it is a good thing I happend to find you. Now we can both enjoy the coolness of the water and each others company."

"Agreed!" The young mare replied cheerfully, happy that her new friend is sharing her point of view. She looked down at her reflection in the river, giggling to herself at the fact that the ends of her curly mane was damp from having to lower her head down to the river to drink. Being with Lorraine made her feel somewhat tranquil... Or she was just too tired from being under the hot summer sun.
"Well... Do you want to go rest under some shade, Lorri?" Brioso asked, tilting her head to the right with a thoughtful expression. Then, she tossed her head, gesturing to the forest with a few nods.

Lorraine smiled and nodded her head, it sounded like a lovley idea to lay down in the cool shade, away from the sun. "Sure, sure, that sounds so nice."
She moved to where Brioso had indicated and the teperature difference was definatly noticable. "It feels alot better under here, don't you think?"

Brioso nodded, flicking her tail before leaning against the tree,"It sure is... Summer is too hot!" She complained with a light chuckle, turning to look at the purple mare. She then paused, wondering what to say next; she didn't want an awkward silence between them, after all! After a minute, the young mare pushed herself off her support, and smiled, "So... What brings you to the mountains?"
