[[ZOMG IT'S FINALLY ANOTHER AZUMOTH AND BELLA RP! Please don't post without permission from myself or Uta, thank you!]]
Nine Years.
It had all started nine years ago to this day.
It certainly hadn't felt like it had been so long, time had flown as circumstances had changed and events had transgressed. However, over the course of these last few years he had changed - he had gone from the disgruntled hermit crab to something much more presentable. He was fairly certain that the majority of those within Islagiatt and perhaps even the travellers that passed through the mountains were grateful though all gratitude and appreciation would always be directed to the individual responsible for such a monumental change. Oh sure, it had taken him in part to accept the necessity for change but it hadn't been quite as simple as that. He would have never even considered such a possibility unless one aspect of his life hadn't been turned upside down completely - ironically it was the one part of his life he had completely dismissed.
It was his love life.
She had entered in what one might have called a blaze of glory and she had somehow weddled her way in. She had latched herself firmly on to him and his privacy had been all but ruined. Admittedly this had been partially his fault for daring her to prove him wrong (which she had done, epicly) but now he wouldn't change it for the world.
Ah yes, it had been nine years since she had walked into his life...
Eight years since he had confessed his love.
Seven since she had born him two sons.
...And four since he had found himself a grandfather as well.
He had definitely softened over the years and a certain amount of sentimentality had entered his life that he was not accustomed to. A softer side poked through and seemed much more powerful than it once was. The arguments between logic and heart had once been so predictable but nowadays it was anyone's guess. Mayhaps this was what they meant by finding inner peace, or at the very least being satisfied and happy with one's lot. All he knew was that he rather enjoyed it and it certainly appealed to his sloth like nature during the day time - he may still patrol in the evenings but even then he didn't necessarily give off the vibe of a deadly predator.
Nevertheless it was this sentimentality that had pushed him to the point he was today and as he stood by the stream he continued to muse over the success of his plan. He had made sure to rise early (a first in MANY years) so that he could arrange 'things', he had made sure that he was nearly impossible to find by his mate all so that he could achieve one small goal today.
He was going to confess properly this time.
It would all fall in to place eventually but for such a chain of events to occur he had to be patient and await for the moment in which Bella found her first 'clue'. Surely she hadn't outgrown treasurehunts and riddles, eh?

Bella had been surprised to wake up to a fairly empty grove. Usually the cream coated mare was the early riser in the family, puttering about, checking in on her children and grand children while her mate slept. . .and slept. . and slept. It had been the way of things for as long as she could remember, so to turn her amber gaze on an empty spot was most unusual.
She didn't recall him getting called away. . .
But to each their own. Unusual as it might be, the mare didn't worry or fuss. She merely made her way about the grove and surrounding woods as usual, most certain that her beloved would return shortly from wherever it was he had gone. She had learned long before to never assume anything with her mate. . . Just when you thought you had his reasoning or logic pegged, he'd do something completely out of the blue.
Today was one of those days.
Though she wondered where Azumoth might have gone, she found no reason to worry or wonder for long and instead enjoyed the quiet morning. He would return whenever he decided, and so, she took a visit and a call upon her grand babies. The mare couldn't help but feel pride whenever she visited her sons, and to look upon her three grown grandchildren also caused her heart to swell. Who would have thought that she would be, not just a mate, but a mother and grandmother?
Years previous, Bella had thought it an impossible future. She had gone unassuming, certain that her life might continue just as it had started; rather alone and without much company. From lonely and quiet beginnings, she had met a handful of characters to help shape her life, but it was one in particular that had changed it completely.
Stumbling blindly in an unknown woods, it was there she had met Azumoth. And though he fought her friendship tooth and nail, the mare would never have guessed that her feelings might have turned in to an unyielding and undying affection; furthermore, she never would have imagined him to eventually feel the same!
The spirits certainly had a funny way of working things out. . . But the trip had been well worth it. Not only had she found love, truly and completely, but she had been gifted with children (both adopted and her own) and grandchildren. . . . If her beginnings had been lonely and without a family, the spirits had decided to make up tenfold such a crime!
Picking her way back to the comfort of their grove, her visit with Penance and her grandchildren complete, the mare was quite sure of Azu's return. But surprisingly enough, he wasn't there. . . There was no lump of wings, horns, red silk and ebony fur. . . In fact, if she had to put her hoof on it, he hadn't returned home at all while she was away.
Odd really. . .
Now wherever might he have gone to?

It had been enough time, or such was the opinion of the stallion as he gazed upwards briefly to inspect the shadows the sun cast upon the ground. Bella was most certainly awake by now and had been given ample opportunity to bustle about as she normally did. She would be well through her routine and no doubt she had made certain that her grandchildren and sons were healthy. To say that Azumoth didn't take note of her activities was inaccurate and while he may not necessarily add his input or opinion when it came to her antics he was well aware of where she was, when she was and whether or not his little princess happened to be in any trouble. A quiet life and years of blissful tranquility hadn't yet destroyed his protective instincts and his ability to recognise set routines!
With this in mind he had given orders for his 'partners in crime' to begin their game around this time. Ideally after she had returned from her morning rounds and had yet to set into her luncheon activities. His brothers were admittedly not the best time keepers but when it came to this sort of game, Nono and Horne made significantly more of an effort to attend. He didn't question it, he had never truly understood the eccentricity of his bluetit brothers and merely appreciated them for their skills.
Thus, as Bella entered the grove it was Nono who dropped down from the tree branches and graced her with his presence. Clearing his throat with a small cough, he place his wing to his chest and posed beside the small rock pool he had often played in many years ago. A pause for added affect and then he placed his eyes upon the mare and smile as best as one with a beak could. "It has been nine years since knucklehead met you - nine long years and he has decided that enough is enough!" He gave a dramatic flourish, indicating that it wasn't a declaration of divorce or seperation so much as his decision to use more artistic licence than his brother had technically permitted him to.
"If you wish to stop him from performing a horrid and foolish act, you must find him. Go swiftly Princess, stop Knucklehead from ruining the flowah beds with your feminine wiles!" He coughed again and took another breath, attempting to hold in his giggles.
He had messed up.
Azumoth would probably flatten him.
...But it was totally worth it.
"Your only hope is to find the missing pieces of the puzzle that grant the key to his secret hideaway, for this you must first solve the riddles we mighty critters have placed before you." He paused again for dramatic affect and then leaned forward in anticipation. "So...you totally wanna play, don'tcha!"

The mare was accustomed to the antics of her in-laws; the two little birds had been as constant in her life as Moppet and Azumoth themselves! Though she found them far more amusing than their larger and far-more-stoic brother, she was surprised at the flourish in which she was addressed.
In fact, Nono's speech caught both Bella's intrigue and surprise; what on earth was going on around here today? The golden eyed mare listened to the speech, her own amused smile involuntarily crossing her features. Mischief was what was happening today, but it wasn't from her grandchildren, in-laws or sons. . . In fact, the mischief was being caused by none other than her hubby~! That fact alone was both amazing and surprising. . . Though she adored her mate, she had long come to an understanding that he was all things practical. Her own naivety and innocence had caused him many a headache, and though she was much more wise than when they first met, her optimism and occasional bouts of IMpracticality had caused the stallion more than one headache. Just because they confessed love for one another didn't make her any less aggravating to the stallion. . . and just because he had warmed up and broken down his barriers didn't mean life for them was perfection.
They had their fights and disagreements. . . but when the day was done they always made up and their love erased any unintentional hurt. She adored Azumoth; through thick and thin, through the good times and the bad. Never would she change her lot. . . he was her rock, her support and her joy.
Giggling sligthly, the mare's anticipation over this 'game' was obvious. Her rump wriggled in excitement and her eyes glowed with curiosity. "What on earth have you boys been plotting!" She laughed, her thick tail swishing behind her. Feminine wiles indeed. . . . Lowering her head so she could better peer at Nono, the mare grinned. "I do hope he remembered I'm not very good at riddles. . . but of course I'd like to play! I accept your challenge! Goodness only knows what this is all about."
It amazed Bella that they had been together nine years. . . How time flew. Not only was she a proud mother, but her sons had all grown and sought out their respective lives. Furthermore, she was already a grandmother to foals practically full grown! Where had the seasons passed . . . . A life lived in bliss certainly slipped by swiftly.

"Ah..." Nono gave a delightedly chirp and relaxed. His expression transformed into one of excitement and he hopped a little closer to the mare, placing one wing upon her snout. Gaining his balance, he fixed his beady eyes upon her inquisitive face and beamed once more. "Ye never were one to disappoint, no wonder ye whipped me brother inte shape," he mused. His expression became coy for a few moments after this, perhaps overwhelmed by fond memories or the worry that she may 'tell' on him for saying such things. As much as he adored his big, grumpy brother he knew that Azumoth was not adverse to holding him under water until he apologised for saying things out of sorts. Of course, this was all done in good humour but the fact still remained that there was always the risk that Azumoth would get the better of him again.
Gone were the days when the twin bluetits could unite and defeat their brother! It was such a shame.
"Well, as ye be knowin' it be nine years since ye came te the grove and we be thinkin' tha' ye be deservin' somethin' special," he furled his wing against his side, gave a little ruffle and then sighed. His held twitched to one side and then he continued to speak, "Afterall it be takin' a very special mare te handle all the things ye be dealin' with each day and we 'spect tha' brother be aware of this too." Admittedly Nono had absolutely no idea what exactly his brother was planning and frankly, neither did Horne. All they had been told was that Azumoth needed their help and he needed them to set up a game - they'd called for the help of their friends and when all had been assembled Azumoth had told them all one by one what to say... Unfortunately, to ensure it was kept a surprise Azumoth had spoken so softly that only those involved in each piece of his game could hear their roles. He was a wiley beast when he wanted to be!
"Now, I meant te be givin' ye a way better speech than this but I nae be rememberin' exactly what I be meanin' te say so I'll jes' tell ye, aight?" Again he unfurled his wing and pointed out of the grove, puffing up his chest as he considered his words. The poor bird was doing his absolute best to recall what he was meant to say but it just wasn't happening - eventually, he opted for the more simplistic approach to the situation. "Nae, he be sayin' ye need to go back te where it all began. Back te the beginnin' - somethin' te do with water. I nae be knowin' what that means 'cause we got a couple o' rivers and little ponds lyin' about but I'm sure ye'll be figurin' it out, aye?"
Optimistic as always, Nono gave another of his beaked smiles and waited expectantly. It wasn't a riddle persay, but at the same time she'd have to recall at least some event in her life that involved water. Surely it made sense to her (even if it baffled him)!

Bella listened to her 'brother-in-law' and was tickled pink by the idea. Whomever had come up with this game (obviously Azumoth) had put a lot of thought in to it. Honestly, the mare was rather surprised by such a random surprise, but then again, her mate still held a few aces up his sleeve. He was always one to be full of surprises, one she had yet to truly figure out. Every time she thought she understood where he came from or what he might do, he did something completely unorthodox or unusual. . . .
This little game being one of them.
Still, Bella couldn't help but take delight in the pains it must have taken him; directing Horne and Nono was no easy task, especially as they too did things all on their own whim and schedule. They were sweet ones, they were, even if they sometimes weren't the most bright. . . . "I think your speech was absolutely lovely," she added encouragingly, swishing her thick tail behind her as her amber eyes glowed with genuine delight. "But back to the beginning, you say. . . ? Water. . . " The mare lifted her head, tilting it inquisitively to the side.
Water. . . . Remembering that far back was almost a little fuzzy, especially when it came to places of water and river beds. Surprisingly, there were three important events that stood out in her mind. Meeting Meshach down at the river bed. . . if she had never met the unruly stallion, she would have never gotten in trouble with Malice and therefor would never have come running to Azumoth's side.
At the same rate, she found Raphe by the river bed as well. . . Though she doubted that had much to do with anything at this point.
And last but not least, there was her training near the small lake. When they had their second meeting, a meeting that left her close to tears and great embarrassment, back when she began to first realize her feelings. "Best check the closest possibility first," she decided, a smile planted happily upon her features. "Seeing as I pass it on way to the potential next destination." Glancing behind to see if Nono was supposed to follow, Bella gave him a wink and added, "Let's hope I don't get too terribly confused. Your brother is much more clever than I and all I'd need is to upset this little game and upset him in the process," she chuckled. "Wish me luck, I may very well need it~!"
Picking her way out of the grove, the mare headed towards the first destination, the spot where he teased her both in the physical aspects of their relationship as well as the mental. If the small pool lay barren, Bella knew exactly where she would head though it was out of the grove and down amongst the plains.
Water. Back to the beginning. . . . Well, of course there was his trek to take her to the ocean, when their feelings came to a climax and she admitted her feelings and he yelled out his. She knew the cave he brought her to fondly. . . but. . . that wasn't exactly the beginning. On the one hand it was the beginning of their relationship officially, but was he implying the beginning of that or just the very beginning when they first met?
Oh bother. . . . At the rate her mind worked, she doubted she'd get very far very fast. Hopefully he'd remember his patience, as he was indeed much more clever than she. Azumoth proved that time and time again and her own lack of common sense and naivetee frequently put his patience to the test. Today, she worried, might be no different.

There were certain things that Azumoth didn't know about, there were others that he did. When it came to matters regarding his mate's history there were certain subjects that remained a little fuzzy. He had never asked for all the details regarding certain events that had transgressed in her life. Instead he had merely accepted them and with great difficulty on occasions, had resisted the urge to seek out and obliterate the individuals responsible for her pain. His patience was certainly tested in those years but as of late she had spoilt him rotten and ensured that his life of tranquility hadn't been disturbed - or rather, each time it had been disturbed she had kept him grounded.
When it came to Bella he was merely thankful she had wanted him. Her gentle insistance had been enough to change him and slowly but surely he had 'evolved'. To that end, he would have been the first to point out that despite her occasionally feather-brained behaviour she was rather smart when she wanted to be. Her memory was not as marred as she assumed and she had already touched upon the memory that he shared. He didn't really regard it with fondness given he had been a complete and utter jackass but it had been a turning point in their relationship. She had asserted her feelings and her willingness (sort of) and he in turn had recognised that there was something he couldn't dismiss boiling up in the very pit of his stomach.
It hadn't been pleasant at the time but now he regarded it with a mark of respect he rarely granted to any memory. Deep down he knew that this should have been the moment he had confessed to her but due to his own failings he had missed that opportunity. He had to change that, had to fix it and had to make his own declaration as impressive as her own was (minus the tears).
It was what she deserved.
As she progressed through the forest she would find that things were typically undisturbed. Their state remained the same as it always did and it was clear that the morning patrols had been done by her now elusive stallion. However, as she drew near the small pond that had caused so much trouble she would encounter something quite different. Suffice to say, it had not been Nono and Horne that had set this stage up. On the contrary, it screamed of Moppet's artistry - with a splash of Azumoth's tastes.
On the approach towards the pool the raccoon had strewn about numerous flower petals, with the coming of autumn it wasn't so much of a sin to disturb the flowers and she had put them to good use. The fragrance of those blossoms still in bloom hung in the air and the pond that had once held somewhat soured memories took on a new light. In the middle of the water their rested a single flower, spinning and bobbing every now and again when a breeze disturbed the surface. There was no sign of life, no riddle to answer and no indication that she would receive a clue elsewhere...but Azumoth had never been one for chance.
There had to be something hiding in the area.

The mare approached the small pond, pausing as her eyes laid sight to the transformation that took place. There were many different memories she recalled at the sight of the pool; Penance and Azuell splashing and playing during their foal hood, even her own grand babies enjoying the cool waters offered. Of course, there would always be a slight tickle of humiliation, though such a feeling was long since past and mostly forgotten. During her younger years she had thought of her 'admittance' some what embaressing, but seeing as Azumoth and she did wind up together, it wasn't quite so depressing a thought.
The morning after her attack had been incredibly wonderful and horrible all at once, but it were those moments that made up her memory. They were bitter-sweet, more on the latter side than former these days, and Bella's good humor could almost look back at how silly the two of them had been. Oh, certainly her mate had his reasons, but to remember her stuttered words and finding herself in over her head with the ebony stallion brought a chuckle to her lips nowadays.
The embarrassment she once felt at the pond was long since over, if just a landmark for the pairs relationship. But now, to see it in a way she never had before with the beautiful fragrance of flowers tickling her nose and the splashes of colour from the petals guiding her to the calm pond. . . . It was lovely, very lovely, and something the mare didn't want to so swiftly leave.
"What are you up to," she murmured softly to herself, amber eyes bright with curiosity and a burning joy. To think he'd gone through all this trouble with the family. . . and all for what? For her? Oh. . . . Already her heart was beginning to flutter and soar, delighted once again by her beloved mate. Perhaps they were a rather strange pairing, but the mare wouldn't have it any other way. Though her mate could be obstinate, stubborn and very set in his ways. . . she loved him. Even if they disagreed, even if they viewed the world differently, he was a good stallion - no . . a great stallion, and one she hoped to never take for granted. He was her rock, her stability, the logic to her silliness. . . . Opposites did attract, so the mare understood, and if such were true than he truly was black wile she was white.
And Bella refused to have it any other way.
Taking a moment to admire the flowers, the mare was drawn to the pool. At first she studied the flower, but it being too far out, the mare took a few steps in very careful not to disturb the flower and its gentle dance upon the waters surface. Something was there. . . but what?

[[Filler post while we get Bella into position. 8D]]
If only she had moved just a little closer! Within the flower there was something gleaming, scarcely visible beneath the petals. Each time the sun's rays managed to break through the canopy something within the centre would catch its light. A glisten here, a twinkle there and it would have taken a very dense individual not to realise that there was something hiding deep within. What this was remained to be seen but instead of any form of guidance the flower relied on nothing more than primal curiosity to encourage the mare to come forward a little more. Even in this instance the raccoon (despite her meddling) and the brothers wouldn't disturb this moment.
It was a gamble but Azumoth liked to think he knew his mate better than most. While she was generally a smart creature there were somethings she wouldn't resist. Azumoth had long boasted of a completely secure home and as a consequence he had made a wager that the curiosity she did harbour would fester and over power what sensibilities she did have. Or at least, this was how it worked in theory...whether or not he proved to be accurate in his assumptions remained to be seen but on occasions even Azumoth could throw caution to the wind and give things a shot.
Well, his sons would probably accuse him of taking a calculated risk more than giving anything a shot but they did have to give him some credit!
Nevertheless as the minutes progressed it would take a little longer to discover what this particular male was up to...

Stepping closer to the delicate flower, while the soft fragrance of the plant tickled her nose, as it drifted in to a delicate ray of sunlight something caught her eye. . . . Another light? Something shiny? Something . . . . inside the flower?
For a moment the mare's golden gaze studied the plant from a distance. Her ears pricked and she canted her head in the most foalish of manners while her grin broadened in delight. There was something in the flower, but what!? Her mind wondered if it were perhaps some shiny stone, as it was the only thing she could think of that would glisten and sparkle so brightly.
Stepping forward, Bella bridged the distance between herself and the flower, curiosity getting the best of her and rightly so. It wasn't everyday her mate worked up such a scheme, and she wondered exactly what was glittering within the delicate flower. What was Azumoth up to, exactly, she just plum couldn't say. . .
Oh, she was already tickled pink by the fact he thought she deserved some better recognition of their eight years together, but it was completely unnecessary really. Regardless of their awkward beginnings or their occasional dispute, she adored her mate and needn't nothing further painted out or declared. He knew she was smitten, he had her wrapped around his hoof and she liked it that way. . . .
Azumoth was her entire world, with his family now her own and their children (adopted and blood-related) were the highlights of her life. Never would she change anything with in her life, for better and worse, and her ebony mate would never miss a day without knowing of her fond affection.
Reaching the side of the flower, the mare peeked down to further investigate. . . what false-starlight twinkled in this innocent plant? What mystery awaited her now?

[[Lmfao, WHAT is your avatar wearing Uta? xDDD]]
The moment she made the error of disturbing the flower her fate was sealed. At first the 'consequence' seemed rather sweet, she was showered with many leaves from above her head. Somewhere in the canopy they had been sealed and when she had knocked the stone at the base of the lake she had triggered them. Whatever creature had cooked up this machination was quite obviously a genius but remained hidden, therefore the appreciation of its handy work would have to wait for another date. However, this little 'shower' wasn't quite as harmless as was initially anticipated and no sooner had the leaves graced the pool with their presence than a coconut plummeted from the world above and landed squarely on her head.
He'd always wanted to do that. Everytime the mare exasperated him with her occasional feather brained antics he could find no words or suitable action to express how he felt. Well, he hadn't been able to figure out exactly how to express himself until recently and the coconut had been an absolute stroke of genius conjured up from a most surprising source.
...That was a story for another time though.
Clearing his throat, the male released a small chuckle from his hiding place. There were occasions when even he failed to surpress his amusement. However he was not yet ready to reveal himself and as such he remained at his vantage point shrouded from view - the mirth was evident despite the distance though.
"So you know how long I dreamed of that moment?" he enquired softly, "The opportunity really was too good to pass up, though I doubt it'll knock very much sense into you - you're a tad stubborn..." he cooed teasingly, an ironic statement given his own nature.

(( I'm the Hindu Chicken Princess . . . or . . something. x3 I know you're jealous of my totally rockin outfit. ~.^ ))
The mare's smile brightened significantly as the shower of leaves rained down upon her figure. Standing knee deep in the lake, she looked up at the cascade of colour, delighted by the little scene. Oooooh . . . her mate had never told her he could be so sweet! Well, she'd always known gentleness in him, despite his occasional grumpy moods all full of logical logic. . . but the small shower of leaves was poetic and all things lovely. Following them down to the pool of water, she was looking down at her reflection amongst the leaves and didn't stand a chance.
So swept up by the 'magic' created, she hardly could have defended herself even if she'd tried. (She wasn't the fastest mare in the world, after all!)
A dull THWUNK reverberated, followed by the coconut splashing in to the lake and Bella jerking back in surprise. Her ears pinned and her nostrils flared in a moments confusion, brows instantly knitting in concern as she stared at the water rather dumbly. If she had been any more skiddish she might have bolted, but though she had lept a little, she remained. . . .
What was that! Peeking up suspiciously at the trees, head smarting a bit, the mare had never witnessed a pine cone or acorn so large as to cause such a thunk against her head! Honestly, the poor mare looked rather ridiculous in her confusion, and Azumoth's chuckle and good-humored words only served to fluster her more. Not in anger, of course, but slight humility and embarrassment.
Oh bother. . . it had been his doing! Her nose flushed pink and her golden eyes averted slightly as she tried to come up with some sort of reply. Still, a silly little smile crossed her features and she cleared her throat, adding, "Well I hope you cherished the moment. . . I'll have a lump there for sure!" She chuckled, retreating a few steps from her current spot in the pool, not wanting to be subject to such an experience again.
"As for sense. . . you're chalk full of it, my love, and certainly make up for whatever I might lack." She did like to think herself reasonable and full of sense and wisdom; perhaps she wasn't so keenly logical like her beloved mate but there were times when such views could be a down fall. Sometimes one had to look past reason and see a different view; at least she was adaptable. . . right?
Looking around the foliage, the pink of her nose lessening her amber gaze tried to seek out his source. He was close by, and he was watching . . . but where? The shadows him him well and try as she might she couldn't find him. Good old Azumoth. . . leave it to him to declare his love by dropping something hard on her head.
It was sweet, in a . . . Azumoth-sort of way. Honestly she didn't expect anything more, not really. It warmed her heart that he might be so good-humored to set up such a keen trap, even if it was at her poor heads expense!

"I expect I will regard the bruising with as much affection and appreciation as I do for the rest of your form," came the retort. It was a rather quick response, one that was either prepared or came from an individual with a razor sharp tongue. There was something to be said for being the offspring of Kiyoshi, having a reasonably quick wit was one benefit even if there were no others [that he could see]. Nevertheless, when he was completely certain that she was largely unharmed save for the bump on the head, and that her humour remained largely intact he did take the opportunity to reveal himself. It shouldn't have come as a shock to find he hadn't been far, he had just made sure to cover the orb within his chest with a number of his thick braids.
Rolling his neck, the stallion sauntered towards the mare and came to a halt with a few feet between them. Regarding him quietly for a few moments, he listened to the words that slid from her lips and gave a nod of appreciation for her almost back handed compliment. He did have quite a bit of sense and while he was deeply thankful for that he could also recognise that to some it was an infuriating quirk. There were moments when his stubborness and unwavering views could tick off even the most patient - just as well that his mate recognised the reasoning behind most of his views!
"That is an awful lot of sense to make up for," he pointed out good naturally, his lips lifting into a half smile. Once again he observed the mare, ensuring that she was unharmed before he was completely satisfied he really hadn't caused any lasting damage. She was the hardy sort, she had lived on the cold slopes for a while now and she had given birth to two very fine stallions - she could cope with a coconut to the head. That was his reasoning and he was sticking to it.
"You can be very frustrating," he released a sigh and shook his head, finally permitting the braids to wander from around the soul orb. "But that isn't why I brought you here, no matter how amusing my little prank was I had an ulterior motive," he murmured. Clearing his throat, he looked sheepish for a moment.
"You are alright though, aren't you?" If anyone didn't know any better, they'd swear he was attempting to delay the inevitable!

The mare watched as her mate moved out of his hidden position, the pain in her head subsiding as she was able to distract herself. And yes, Azumoth was quite the distraction. Though she'd been lucky enough to be his devoted mate for so many years, that didn't make her attraction or affection for him any less. He was still as intriguing, alluring and otherwise fascinating for the mare as he'd been when she'd first met him. . . .
And yes, just as frustrating!
It was ironic that he felt she was the plank in the relationship, causing him no amount of aggravation. Unfortunately for Azumoth, the same emotion could be said about him! But that was neither here nor there. . .
The pale coated mare stood knee deep in the pool, watching as her winged mate approached. Her smile brightened a bit, always pleased to be in such company. She truly was the luckiest mare in the world, even if one might quirk a brow of surprise over her sometimes gruff companion. They were an unlikely pair, but were more than well-suited to be with one another.
Chuckling at her mates 'concern', the mare gave a little shake of her head and pawed lightly at the water. "I'm quite fine, truly. Your little prank didn't leave any lasting damage, unfortunately," she teased, giving her long (and partly water-logged tail) a little swish. "It'll take more than that to stop me." She was a hardy sort; even before being whisked away to the grove, she'd spent her entire life living on her own.
It hadn't necessarily made her wise, but she'd taken care of herself since filly-hood. She'd lived alone, she'd raised Raphe on her own, dealt with Azumoth and helped him, and was now a grand mother! Giving her mate a reassuring smile, she waited a moment, ears pricked in curiosity. . .
What was his motive, actually? If not to drop hard-fruit upon her head. Standing in the middle of the pool, it felt a little awkward really. "Do I get to share in this motive of yours. . .? Or does it require more fruit. . ?" She teased lightly, amber eyes bright with mischief and curiosity.

A healthy amount of stubborness and 'conflict' was healthy in couples. It kept the relationship fresh and the occasional frustrated moment could fuel emotions that were significantly more positive. While Azumoth had more manners than to point this out, he was well aware of it and was more than happy to agree to Bella's view. They were perfectly suited, an odd couple in terms of appearance but she completed him. When his approach was too hard, her softer and more diplomatic one was often successful. This was particularly evident in their children - they had become balanced individuals due to both his hard line approach and her softer teachings. They had their faults but Azumoth was firm in his belief that they were fully capable and could cope with anything that was thrown at them.
Nevertheless, now that he was firmly reassured of her well being the stallion lifted his eyes heavenwards and gathered his composure. There would be no avoiding the issue and while he did know what he wanted to say, there was a certain amount of pride and 'manliness' that he had to overcome before the words would come out of his mouth. Frankly, he had made massive steps up until this point; at one point he wouldn't have even dreamt of such a thing. However, after many years of musing it over he had come to the conclusion that his mate really was entitled to more...
There was no use just sending positive thoughts in her direction - he needed something more substantial and he didn't need his mother to tell him that either.
Even if she had - frequently.
"Well all this would seem a tad unreasonable and utterly ridiculous if you weren't privvy to the inner workings of my mind," he pointed out dryly. His brow rose immediately and he couldn't stop the wry expression appearing on his chiselled features. However, this was exactly the reprieve he needed to lighten his move and calm his nerves, he'd never been great at handling those butterfly things.
"I figured that it would be appropriate to give this area a makeover, it doesn't have the most fabulous memories to say the least. I would sooner that they did...So I thought 'why not start again', you know?"
