Faolan was sitting on the front steps of the vardo, taking a well-deserved rest from some of the remodeling he'd gotten started, sipping at a bottle of ale. Beside him was a chess board set up, a few of the pieces moved around from his playing against himself. It was such a nice day, he couldn't think of a better way to relax, really.
Inside, Zia puttered about, arranging the gifts for Ellandra that Fao had sent it out to buy while the woman was out at her storytelling gig. She'd taken Rhian with her, the little proto playing the part of a puppet. Both Essentic and man were hoping to surprise her when she got home.

Ellandra walked back from her storytelling, carrying a limp and slightly-bedraggled looking Rhian in her arms. She hadn't let the butterfly out of her sight since her return from her misadventure. The flutterby hadn't meant to get lost - but apparently sneaking out had been bad, too, even though no-one had ever seen her! Well, no-one but that creepy sad man and her Ganpa Vin-vin. The brunette patted Rhian's head lightly as she walked up to the vardo and smiled at her husband.
"Who's winning?" She asked, a soft smile crossing her face, knowing full-well Fao was playing against himself.

Faolan looked up at her, smiling in that "oh my god, I love you and you're here now! yay!" sort of way he usually greeted her with whenever she got home. "I'd say I'm the winner right enough." He reached up when she was close enough and rubbed at her belly, silent hello to his babies.

Ellandra rolled her eyes at the belly-rub and leaned over to kiss him. "They can't say hello back yet, you know," she sid, smiling softly, enjoying the gesture nonetheless. In her arms, Rhian made the tiniest of complaint-noises, wanting to get inside so she could move again. Though all she would do was likely to go perch in the rafters and cocoon up; she didn't like being in trouble! It wasn't fun!

"I think they know I'm here. They probably say hello in their own way," Faolan said, ears going up a bit at the kiss. Oh, how he loved his wife. He stood up and gestured for her to go in. "Me an' Zia got a surprise for you, lass."

"A surprise?" Ellandra asked, her eyes widening a bit. She had no idea at all what it could be, either, but. . . she was looking forward to finding out. She shifted Rhian over to one arm and took Faolan's hand in hers, entering the vardo and tugging him along with her as she did. "O-oh!" Well, this was most definitely a surprise!

Faolan stood in the doorway behind her. "Go on and open 'em." He nudged her forward to the table with the gifts.

"But. . . what are they for?" Ellandra asked, staring with wide eyes at the gifts on the table, as she released Rhian and let the butterfly head up to her rafter-perch. "It's a bit too soon to give any gifts for the babies. . ." and it wasn't like it was her birthday, either, that wasn't for a bit longer.

"They ain't for the babies. They're for you, wife," Faolan said, picking up one gift-wrapped package and holding it out to her. He'd been rather specific to Zia about the type of clothing he'd wanted it to buy for Ellandra--empire-style tanktops and other shirts, comfortable skirts and pants made for pregnant women, plus all the adornments the Essentic could manage to find for accenting the outfits.

Ellandra blinked, and blushed. "I.... um...... okay..." she said quietly, still wondering to herself about what the occasion could be. Then she opened the first gift, and gasped. "Oh, it's beautiful, Faolan. . ." And it was, it really was. Not something she would have ever picked out for herself, but certainly something she could wear easily and comfortably.

"I figured you'd be needin' some new clothes for when you get all poofy from the bairns," Faolan said, patting his wife's belly affectionately. "You were whingin' about wantin' some new clothes anyhow, right?"

Ellandra blushed. "Poofy? I've never heard it called that before," she said, and then pouted playfully. "And I wasn't whining. . . just. . . stating the fact that I needed them. That's all."

"I know and these will be better suited to life around here for you," Faolan said softly, leaning down to kiss his wife's pout. "And, yes, poofy. You're already startin' to show a bit 'cause you got two of 'em in there." Another pat to her belly, oh, yes, Faolan was a proud papa. "Just wait till your tummy's really big and you're all huggable and snuggly."

Ellandra returned the kiss and then smiled softly. "I didn't think I was showing that much," she said, a blush gracing her face again. "And what's all this about being big and huggable? I thought you could get a teddy bear for that," she added, raising an eyebrow.
