By nature, Cit was a very grumpy lion to begin with. Even as a cub, he was standoff-ish, avoiding play with his siblings, avoiding attention from his parents. In the end, before he was fully old enough to realize he could not fend for himself, he abandoned them, taking off on his own.
A hard childhood of hunger, and working hard to survive had did little to improve his nature. But he was very comfortable and confidant with the kind of man he was. He had strong morals. He had unwavering confidence. And he had pride.
At the moment, however, that pride was in pieces. His mate was gone. She had moved on without him. His young son, who he'd freed from the grasps of the lioness who had violated him, had left him. Apparently they were quite the same type... And now, worst of all, he had lost a fight. With a wolf, of all things. But the creature had been vicious, jumping him into his sleep, tearing into him.
The blood still soaked his fur, standing out on the tan, but difficult to see on the black. He limped heavily, right front paw looking in bad shape. Most of all. He looked very, very pissed off. His face was set in an unfriendly scowl, tail thrashing out in agitation behind him as he very slowly made his way down the shore, hissing when the waves would sometimes crash up too high, stinging his wounds with the salty water.
He wasn't very sure where he was going... All he knew was he wanted to get as far away as he could from everything he had ever known. He wanted to be in place that could make him forget it all... Offer him a new life. And if he couldn't reach that place, then he would die from the freely bleeding injuries. Either one was a way out to him, and he was no longer sure which he preferred.

And he was gone. Sudi'Kito, her youngest cub, had run off yet again when she'd tried to bring him to the sea for the offering. Rolling her sky blue eyes, the pale gray and pink lioness peered out from her spot on a nearby cliff that was no more than three feet high. Feana figured her baby was somewhere near here, but she never knew quite where any of her cubs ran off too. Tail flicking irritably, a frown appeared on her face. "Sudi'Kito, get your little fuzzy butt back here!" She called out above the crashing of the sea.
"I didn't come here to only lose the cubs all the time," she muttered as she jumped off that cliff and walked towards the ocean. She sniffed at the sand to try to get any scent off of it from Sudi, but to no avail. Snorting a bit, Feana's tail flicked again and she peered out, scanning the area.
In the distance, she spotted a figure walking around the shore. It could be Sudi, but she wasn't sure. She let out a motherly noise to call her baby back to her and moved towards that figure. She was a slender lioness for having five cubs not to long ago; quickly working off all the extra weight and getting her figure back was easy. There were so many new lions to pull pranks on here. They didn't all take to Feana at first.
She thought back on that. Since she'd come here as not quite an adult, and pregnant, she wasn't welcomed at all. In fact, Feana's own mother was mad at her for getting herself knocked up. Like it's my fault, she thought to herself. Then, she shook her head of those thoughts and noticed she was closer to the figure.
....And it definitely wasn't her baby. This was a full grown lion. Who seemed to be limping. She sniffed in his direction again and the coppery stentch of blood filled her nose. That caused her some alarm. She moved quicker, motherly instinct telling her to help the poor lion.
"Hey! Heey! Don't move anymore!" She called out to the figure, not even sure how big the other was.

His ears flicked forward at first, when he'd heard the keen of a mother, but they quickly flattened back again, shaking his head. A mother trying to round up her children was no concern of his, and if he was lucky, he would bypass the group. Luck, however, tended to avoid Cit. He did indeed stop, when the female called out to him, pale pink eyes slowly moving to take in her small form of her.
Cifitu, by any standard, was a quite large lion. Compared to the slender lioness, he must have looked massive to her. By size alone, he was intimidating. The blood-soaked fur, and scowl still on his face did little to inspire friendly thoughts.
When he spoke, his voice was deep, and had a rough quality to it. As if he hadn't had a drop of water in days. In truth, though, that was just how his voice was. With the thick accent on top of that, some people had trouble understanding the lion. " Wha'cha wan', kitt'n? " He growled out as he slowly sat back in the sand to take the weight off his badly injured paw. It could do with a bit of a break, anyway. " I ain' up fer 'elpin' ya fin' th' brats. "
His scowl had loosened at the view of the female, and the weight coming off his paw. His face was set into more of a neutral, uncaring expression, tail thumping heavily against the sand in an impatient gesture as he waited to hear just why she had stopped him. Really, she would have to be out of her mind if she wanted him to go cub hunting with her, since it was obvious to him that's what she was doing out there. He wasn't fond of cubs, at least, not of those that didn't hold his genes. Well, even then... The tiny creatures just annoyed the hell out of him. As did most other things.

Feana didn't notice the nickname; she'd been called many in her short life time. She could sense he wasn't in the mood for anyone around him, but that scent... He was obviously hurt. She'd seen him walking with a big limp and it struck her with the need to help him. She knew a thing or two about how to stop bleeding and how to get rid of pain. She had the pride to thank for those teachings.
"Sorry to .... order you around, but... I can help you. I mean.. your bleeding? It'll attract packs of wild dogs or hyenas if you're not careful..." She knew against a pack, even a lion as massive as he was; he could get taken down simply from faltering because of blood loss. She'd seen it once before. Moving up closer, Feana pressed her nose against his fur to try to locate the wound by scent alone. Wherever the blood was the most pungent.
Finally, she looked down at his paw and let her brows furrow even more. "You should put it in the salt water.. It'll help clean it, as much as it hurts," she explained, pulling back and looked up at the injured male. ".....if you want my help, anyway." The smaller lion knew her place. She really was no healer, but she did learn a thing or two.
So, without waiting for an answer, she moved to the greens of the forest and disappeared for a few minutes before coming back with a few different plants and leaves. "These will help stop the bleeding, and some will help with the pain, slightly..." She remembered from experience just how much some plants helped during her child birthing.

At her words, Cit found himself to be torn, watching her walk off after listening silently. Normally if someone wanted to help him, he would brush them off, and leave. But at this rate, he may be dead by the next sunrise, and his acceptance of that was beginning to falter.
Once she was out of sight, into the trees, his eyes turned to the waves splashing up to his left. Taking a brief moment to decide, he hauled himself back up, limping forward to the water into it climbed halfway up his legs. He growled out lowly at the painful sting to his many cuts, and the tears in his paw, slowly sitting down there in the water. The waved were quick to wash away the blood and help clean his wounds. He even briefly ducked his head down under it to deal with his mane, and the gashes on his face.
Unlike most of their species, Cit had always loved the water. Even as a cub, he found himself dangerously leaping into it, uncaring of wave or current. Or even the dangerous creatures that could be lurking beneath the surface. His former love had thought him insane for it... She had never been pleased when he pulled her in as well, until he took her mind off it.
Scowling, he quickly shook the thought away, looking back to the shore when he heard the soft approaching paw-steps in the sand, signaling the female's return. " Why'd'ye wan' ta be 'elpin' me, kitt'n? Wha'd'ye care if sum mutts ta'r me 'ppar'? "
He couldn't help but be a bit curious. He had never met anyone willing to help, with no strings attached. They always wanted some kind of compensation in the end. So what the hell did this mother want?

It was a little hard to understand the male at first, what with his accent and everything, and Feana was a bit busy looking at his face. She needed to know how much to apply to each scar. She had a feeling she'd need more medicinal herbs for this big male. She nosed under his chin to get his face into the sun more, wanting to get a better look.
"Call it motherly instinct or something," the once trickster said. "That, and it's normal in our pride to help out others..." She murmured, going back to the leaves. She took a few into her mouth and chewed until it was soggy, then went to the water and opened her mouth, letting some of the saltwater in. After that, she chewed it again and then laid it in front of the other for examination. "Ok... I know this doesn't look good, or doesn't smell right, but... It does help. I know from experience..." She said earnestly. "You don't exactly eat it. You chew it and suck on the juices. It helps with the pain. Helped with my child birth, that's for sure."
Sitting in front of him and looking to the other herbs, she took them into her mouth as well, starting to chew it up, waiting to see what his reaction would be. Would he eat the green blob that was bleeding green into the sand, almost staining it? Or would he call her crazy and be willing to face death? Feana looked at him with a slightly worried look, hoping he'd chose life.

They just.. helped others? For no other reason than wanting to? Interesting. Cit ran this over in his mind as he watched the female work, grunting a bit when she butted his chin up more.
She wanted him to eat the strange smelling, toxic looking blob of green..? Well, there were easier ways to kill him if that was her intent, and he had finally decided that he did, indeed want to live... Slowly he leaned down, nose wrinkling, quickly taking it into his mouth to begin chewing on it.
" Uhg!! 's 'orrible..! " He groaned out around the green mass in his mouth, tongue sticking out, almost losing the thing down into the water, before quickly pulling it back in to continue chewing. His expression was quite comical. Ears were flattened back, his nose wrinkled, a very odd look on his face, somewhere between wanting to spit it out, and praying he didn't accidentally swallow the thing.
That large body shivered in dismay as he continued to chew on the thing as she had asked him to, clawing at the wet sand beneath his good paw to help distract him, and tough it out. He couldn't deny that the pain was slowly lessing... but that didn't mean he had to like the method that caused it. His tail began to twitch eyes shutting. " Guuh! Kitt'n.. 's keelin' me.. C'n 'ah stop't naw? " He nearly whined, clawing in deeper at the ground.
She'd chewed on the thing a good few minuted by that point, and it was getting pasty... which only made it even more unpleasant. He would gladly gulp down some of the salty water just to remove it from his mouth. It was the lesser of two evils.

Once Feana got the other herbs into the right consistency, she spat it out on a big leaf she'd brought over with the herbs and dipped her paw it in, making sure. Nodding as it squished like mud and clung to her, she sighed and rolled her eyes at his reaction. "You're worse than my cubs," she muttered under her breath, smearing the pasty substance on his leg, slowly getting to his paw.
She knew this one would hurt him, the paste would sting and cling to the wounds. It'd close them, stop the bleeding, but not help with the pain. Indeed this big lion was turning out like a big gruff teddy bear. Not at all what she was used too. Once she got his leg and paw done, she dipped her own paw back into the rest of the mush and smeared it on the cuts on his face. "Now suck it up and take it like a male. You're so weird..." She said, grinning despite herself. This lion was something else all together.
Once she was satisfied, she licked a spot where there were no cuts and then looked over the rest of him. With a sigh, the smaller female nodded and tossed her gray bangs out of her face with a laugh. That was her first real time using this. She'd used it on her cubs for little cuts, but nothing this major. In a way, it made her feel accomplished.
"Anyway... I'm pretty sure you'll want somewhere to rest soon, hm?" She said, arching a brow playfully at him. Wait, why was she flirting with him? She had Kenya, though... Neither had admitted they were mates, much less that they liked each other. Feana really should watch herself more. "I know of a place that's not far from here. Within our boarders.... ....for the night."

" Ya, ya. lau'h't up" He grumbled as he spit the disgusting paste out into the sand with a low growl as the paste she was applying began to painfully coat his leg, but it was obviously the growl wasn't directed to her. He was quite tough, in the end though, not trying to flinch, or pull away, as he allowed her to finish tending to his wounds.
A brow quirked up at the lick she gave him when she was finally done, lips slowly lifting into an amused smirk at her behavior. She was quick to give him the assumption that she was an un-mated mother, raising her children alone. " 'm ne'r ah pride th'n, ya? " He hummed out, glancing around the area slowly. " A'righ'. Sho' me, kitt'n. "
He lifted himself back up to his feet finally, testing his front paw a bit. There hadn't been much change in it yet, aside from a bit less pain, and no more bleeding. He'd still have to limp along.
He kept the weight off it was he waited for her to be ready to lead the way so he could follow along with her to her pride's territory. If he was being invited in, he assumed it was safe enough to go with her. " N'me's Cit, s'ya know. " He finally introduced himself to her.. if she understood the words at least. She seemed to have a good grasp on what he was saying, which was good to him. People who kept saying 'what?' when he spoke, or asked him to repeat himself, or speak better, were quick to be on his bad side.

"Cit? I'm Feana. Do NOT shorten it," she murmured slowly, watching the way he carried himself. Shifting herself, she managed to get close enough to him so that he could use her as something of a crutch. It brought back memories of when she first showed up in this pride. She was so big that it took three lions to help her into the boarders. Her tail flicked in amusement behind her as she listened to him complain. "For a guy your size, you sure do act like a baby, Cit," she laughed, looking up at the bigger male.
Clearly, Feana wasn't intimidated by his behavior, though she felt she should be. He didn't exactly seem the type to be perfectly content relying on others like this. Sooner or later, she'd see the real him, and not the him in pain that was seeking some kind of relief. Something told her that this situation was going to get extremely complicated; and Feana really didn't know how to stop it from happening.
He was a change from Kenya, that was for sure. The awkward father of her cubs didn't talk much, didn't seem to really do much of anything. But he had a certain charm that Feana was drawn too. Maybe it was because she always managed to ruffle his feathers and tease him.
A small part of her wanted to play a prank on Kenya, because of how shy and awkward he was. But that was the means streak in her. One she was trying so hard to ignore.
Slowly but surly, the odd pair made it to a cave embedded at the foot of a high cliff, next to the sea. No water made it's way inside the cave because of how far back it was. "Alright. In you go first. .....I could go get some fish. Build your strength back up. ...Though you look like you'd eat a shark." Another playful jab at him, flirting without thinking. "Or you want to wait until you can do it yourself?"

He let out a grumbling growl at her words, before offering her a slight quirk of his lips. But id certainly wasn't a smile for her. No, it was a smirk. " A girl yer age sho'dn' be teasin' th' elderly, Ana. " He said, purposely going against what she had ordered, and shortening her name. Cit wasn't exactly what one would call elderly. No, he was large, strong, healthy, despite injury, and in his prime. He was, however, a good bit older than the female. That much was obvious.
He looked none too happy when she came around to help support his weight, but, surprisingly, he made no comment about it for now. Best to just get it over with so they could reach their destination more quickly. She seemed far too stubborn, so even if he complained more, she probably wouldn't give in, or listen to him. He allowed the female to help him, rather grateful for her presence as they passed a few guards of her pride along the way. They likely would have given an intimidating male like himself some trouble had he not been with a lioness known to them. They were let through without issue.
Once they reached the cave, overlooking the sea, he pulled himself away from her, moving up to the mouth of it slowly. At the offer of food, his ears perked, head tilting to look back to her. He hadn't eaten in a number of days, thanks to the injuries... He recognized the playful flirting, but scowled in annoyance anyway, tail lashing out a bit behind him. " I'd b'... grateful.. " He ground out the word distastefully. He did not like to feel grateful, because that meant that someone was doing something for him. Something he should be doing himself. It seemed he was slowly owing her a good deal of gratitude.
The scowl faded away to more of his neutral, grumpy look, eyes moving from her form to look across the sea. " Ye'll jus' haf'ta stick 'round while I r'cover... So I c'n r'turn th' favor... " He muttered out finally, refusing to look to the female. He wasn't asking her to keep him company when she wasn't busy, or anything! No, of course not. He just didn't like to feel in debt. So she had to be around for him to pay her back... That's what he told himself mentally, at least.

She twitched as he managed to shorter her name, and she turned blue, narrow eyes on him in a glare. Stupid males always doing what they were asked not too. Though, if she thought about it, she did ask for it. Feana had snapped at him instead of asking him not to shorten it. Rolling her eyes, she sighed and watched him pull away and move about on his own. At least he's not completely helpless.. She thought to herself, moving up beside him again and nipped his cheek fur. It was something she did to show her affection. She often did it to her cubs or even Kenya. Which is why Feana didn't think much about it as she did it.
"I'll tease whoever I want," she murmured into his ear and then shifted inside of the cave to see if there were still furs inside. Feana often collected furs of things she'd killed and stashed them in case her family got to big and had to move to a different den. Or something bad happened, something like this. Sure enough, there, in the back, a pile of furs was still there and it didn't smell to bad either. Caves near the sea were often cool because of the breeze.
"Of course, Cit. I'll stick around until you heal, after I feed my cubs, that is. Unless their grandma's doing it for me." Her mother was good like that. Often took care of the cubs so Feana could go exploring the Bahari. She was still new to this pride, despite everything else. She looked towards him and motioned Cit inside. "Now, get the hell off of your injuries and lay still for a while. Doofus. Going to end up hurting yourself even more." It was said in a playful tone, teasing and flirting.

He couldn't help but quirk a very slight smile at the strange, flirty lioness, shaking his head as he slowly followed her into the cave. Really, it wasn't that bad at all. He had rested in far worse places than this... Far worse. Pink hues searched the little den a moment before they feel on the furs. It was preferable to the cold stone of the floors there.
Stepping up to the furs the female had collected up, he carefully lowered himself down into the soft comforts, stretching out lazily onto his side.
His eyes shut for a long moment, before he looked up to Feana, smirking when he found the girl to be close enough. Swiping a paw out, claws sheathed so not to hurt her, he caught the lioness in her side, pulling her down into his larger, fluffy body. He kept his arm across her middle to hold her to him, tilting his head down slowly to begin licking at her ears.
A deep, rumbling purr escaped him as he playfully groomed the independent lioness. " O'ly til ah heal, eh? Wha'd if I'd wan' ya ta be stickin' round longer 'an tha' Ana? " He asked her teasingly in that heavy accent. He really should be much more weary around this lioness. She had hardly done anything to earn his trust yet. But she was being helpful, and kind to him... At the least, he could show his appreciation for that. He did, after all, have manners. In his own way...

She had tried to scramble away from him when he pulled her against him, but then his voice.... that purr and accent made her shiver a bit and close her eyes with a deep sigh. Ana. Why did he have to call he Ana? Not even her mother did that. His voice was the kind any female could fall for; deep and manly. God, how she wished she could submit to his will.
That thought shocked her out of it and she straighten up a bit, looking right at him with a quirked brow and a confused look in her baby blues. "If.... you wanted me to stick around more, you'd have to make me.." She said, nearly regretting her joking ways as those words left her mouth. She should get out of here, away from him for a while. But he was warm, and she knew he was in pain. He couldn't chase her and she doubted she'd hear him call out if he needed her. Feana's tail twitched in annoyance at her own thoughts. Why did she want to submit to another male other than Kenya?
Her and Kenya didn't have a lot in common. Only cubs and that one night they'd spent together. But they'd grown close as friends, hadn't they? Oh, Gods above, now she was getting so confused. "I think...... I might need to go," she whispered after a great stretch of silence.

He smirked widely at the females words, and how easily she had submitted to laying against him. She'd put up hardly any struggle at all. He almost thought to force her to stay, but, for not they were still getting to know each other. Drawing her closer into his side with his good paw, claws just barely grazed her while he leaned up, nipping her ear. Just as fast as he'd pulled her in, he nudged her away from his heat, stretching himself out slowly.
" G'on then. Ya shud be checkin' in on those brats, ya? Brin' some fish when ya come back. " It was hardly a request. But it wasn't quite an order, either. A test to see how the female responded to his rather dominant personality. She really had him curious about her. She was feisty, and amusing. Yet still willing to submit on some level. He couldn't help but like that.
Most of the females Cit had met these days didn't care much for a dominant male. They liked to do everything by the own will. Be free, and independent. If you tried to give them an order they'd gripe, and snap, and threaten... It annoyed the hell out of him, quite frankly. There hardly seemed to be any suitable females about for a dominant gentleman.
"C'mon now, kitten. Off with you. " He made a shooing motion with his good paw, before shifting onto his side, letting his eyes slide shut, intent on letting his body rest and sleep for a good while. He'd been dragging himself on for quite a while, and it was badly needed.
