Just gave birth on Sunday to my little Alice Rose. She's absolutely precious and perfect! Came out cooing and looking around in wonder at the world she had just arrived in.

Had a hard labor and really fought against induction techniques, but in the end, I had 2 doses of cervadil to help dilate a bit, fought some back labor, got an epidural because of the pain, got ramped up into active labor with pitocin and then dilated to complete within about 6 or so hours. I only pushed for 20 minutes at the most and only had a few superficial abrasions/tears. Baby just POPPED out of me, and she's so tiny (6 lbs, 13 oz) but a healthy weight still when they said she was going to be huge since I had gestational diabetes. Her blood sugar is perfect and she is just the most amazing little thing in the whole world.

I actually gave birth at the local maternity center. It's a nice balance between the hospital and the home. They only do births there, so things are much more streamlined and specifically focus on various levels of intervention and compassionate care.
