Inside Laisidhiel The Faun have lived inside the Great Tree, Laisidhiel, for an unknown amount of time. Long enough, however, that they have developed their own society and thrived in their seclusion, as the Tree provides everything they need to live. They are led by their Chieftain, Rais, and they revere the Tree almost as a god itself, as it is their Life-Giver as well as the source of their magic. Everything required for survival can be found within the Tree, provided for those who choose to live there. Any Faun is welcome to live within the Tree, as it functions much like a self-contained city, much like a castle or fortress. Faun are also welcome to visit the Tree if they choose to venture out onto the island to make their own lives where they choose. The inside of the tree is hollow with a winding ramp from the base to the top. Alcoves are carved out along this ramp, proving ample housing room for the fauns to live. In the center at the bottom is a large open area with a raised dais for meetings with the Chieftain, who lives in the largest home at the bottom where he can keep an eye on any newcomers that happen by. Due to recent events, the Tree has been closed off to all but Faun and their offspring who have sworn their loyalty to Laisidhiel. Remember that Rais is very protective of his people as well as the Tree and will not tolerate trespassers in this time of uncertainty and unrest.

Branches
The branches of Laisidhiel rise high into sky, up into the clouds themselves. Only the bravest climbers dare venture out onto its limbs and no children are allowed, due to concerns of high winds and falling.
Pegasus FaunyWith the arrival of the Pegasus Fauny, the branches of Laisidhiel were opened for residency for the first time. Only these special winged Faun are the exception to the rule banning those younger than their teenage years from being allowed in the branches. Many Pegasi find the inside of Laisidhiel too confining, but the open branches are as close as one can come to living in the sky itself. A majority of the Pegasi population of Laisidhiel lives out on the branches, only moving inside during especially inclement weather.
CropsAs Laisidhiel's massive size blocks much of the light from reaching the ground below, many crops can be found instead in its upper branches, closer to the source of the light. Rain provides a natural watering source, but when that fails, Faun must instead take care of the watering process during dry bouts. These crops are provided by Laisidhiel as a gift to her children, but any Faun wishing to add to the variety of the crops cared for is welcome. Anything that cannot be raised in low light conditions on the ground below can either be cultivated up here, or must be planted far from the Tree on the ground in order to escape its shadow.
New acornsPerhaps the most important of all the crops in the upper branches are the acorns that grow: new life provided by the Great Tree. Each of these acorns has the potential to become a new Faun if properly cared for. The acorns are first formed in the branches, where they absorb the warm sunlight and fresh air for the first half of their development. All acorns appear the same at this point, but soon they will begin to grow in size. Before they can start weighing down the branches and put themselves in danger of falling and getting lost, the acorns are collected and moved to a secure location within the Tree: the nursery, where they are watched over and cared for until the life within is ready to emerge.

Trunk
Considering Laisidhiel's enormous size, the inside is more like a small city than any mere tree. Countless Faun live, work, and play within, completely protected from the outside world if need be. Everything is provided by the Tree, so in case of need, her children will never have to worry about survival.
Faun AlcovesWhether a faun is born within the Tree, or comes home from outside, all Faun are welcome to take up residence in one of the many alcoves that line the inside of Laisidhiel's trunk. There are some that stand empty, the doors open at all times to show the vacant living space within that's free to be claimed by any Faun. Of course, if a Faun has some special need for a custom home, or perhaps, already have a home, but their family has just gotten a bit bigger...the Faun Shaper and apprentices may be called upon to help enlarge and alter an alcove to meet the resident faun's needs.
Most alcoves are relatively simple in nature. There is space for sitting, keeping personal items, and a set up for a cot or straw mat bedding. Personal decorations are welcome and up to the resident. Very few have water available in their alcoves (unless they have drawn some in a pot and brought it back with them), but the fountains on the ground floor are plentiful and open to all.

Base
The bustling hub of Faun life in the Tree, the base serves as a center for social interactions as well as a sort of one-stop shop for anything a Faun could need.
FountainsLaisidhiel's water supply for her residents, these fountains were formed by the Shaper of the past and are fed by rainwater collected outside and brought down through a series of channels to the collecting receptacles below. The main fountains are reserved for drinking water only, and less ornate fountains are set to the side that are intended for hygienic purposes. All fountains are shaped so that old water cycles through and out, draining through a hidden set of complex waterways before emerging deep within the earth to nourish the Great Tree herself.
Meeting DaisA raised section of the floor reserved for special gatherings and announcements by the Chieftain or his Circle. The raised area is surrounded by plenty of open space for gathered Faun. Gatherings for solemn or serious announcements are generally swift and to the point, so tend to be standing room only. However, sometimes the dias is used in times of celebration, with the Chieftain and his Circle seated upon the dias and a multitude of tables and chairs set up in the surrounding area for feasting throughout the evening. In the case of a Faun wedding, the dias serves for both purposes in turn.
Laisidhiel's HeartBehind the meeting dais, an intricate mural stretches over the wall depicting the visage of the Great Tree. A great treasure of the Faun, the true treasure however lies behind the mural. Accessible only by the Chieftain, the Seer, and Earthmother, Laisidhiel's heart lies protected within. A small sapling grows in a shallow pool, dew dripping constantly from the leaves into the water below. This dew possesses strong medicinal properties and is used by the Seer in creating the most powerful of healing potions.
NurseryWhen the acorns that grow in Laisidhiel's branches containing the sparks of new life within begin to take on size, they are carefully collected and brought within the Tree to finish developing. They are kept in the Nursery, where they can be protected and finish growing in the safe, stable, temperature-regulated environment of Laisidhiel. Watched over by the Tree's Gardener, the acorns will wait here until either some Faun couple comes to select one to help expand their family or the acorn is judged ready to 'hatch' to be raised by the community as a whole.
LibraryAs children, Faun are taught to read and write the runic-based language used by the children of Laisidhiel. In the library, all the surviving scrolls and parchments from the past are stored, as well as more recent works by the current age. There are histories and legends among the tomes, as well as other educational pieces on proper agricultural methods for the crops in the branches, flora and fauna records, and a host of other topics. They are not without entertainment value either, and one may find a piece or two of fiction written by some fanciful storyteller.
The Leaky AcornTucked into a quiet 'corner' of Laisidhiel's base, a cozy establishment was founded by a pair of travelers who made their way home at the call of the Faun Chieftain. Bringing a myriad of flavors found on their travels, Mojo and Bronson worked to make the combination pub/cafe an alternative dining (and drinking) experience for the children of Laisidhiel. Bronson, as the Tree's official chef, has provided the Tree's residents with all sorts of delicacies to sample from cultures around the world. Mojo serves as the Brewmaster and offers up a wide selection of beverages, from teas and fruit juices to more mature choices in beers, wines, and spirits. All his own recipes, of course.
Phiona's Clothing EmporiumThe Faun Clothier has set up shop in the Tree's base as well. While clothes are not often worn by the furred Faun, there are many who choose to adorn themselves either out of simple preference, or perhaps convenience depending on their job. The faunness makes use of fabrics and materials to create clothing for the Tree's residents, mixing form with functionality.

Roots
Deep in the earth, embraced by the roots of Laisidhiel, the safest chambers lay, nothing getting in...or out...without notice.
The War RoomLocated directly beneath the central meeting dais on the main floor of Laisidhiel, this room was set aside specially for meetings of the Inner Circle. In times of peace, these meetings address the common concerns and disagreements of normal life in Laisidhiel. In times of war, this room is used for planning meetings, to create the strategies and coordinate the efforts to defend the Faun and drive off their enemies. All meetings here are headed by the Chieftain, whether in times of peace or war.
Prison - 'The Root Cellar'As the number of Faun increased and the threat of interference of the outside world encroached on Laisidhiel society, the need for a place of detainment also grew. Deep beneath the base of Laisidhiel, woven amongst the roots, a section was set aside for a prison, which came to be referred to as the 'Root Cellar'. Rule-breakers (or those who maybe had too much to drink at the Leaky Acorn) are temporarily detained here until they have answered for their crimes. Unfortunate recent events have resulted in a need for incarcerating those suspected of more serious crimes. The Cellar is overseen by Laisidhiel's Warden, who serves as an enforcer and supervisor of any other guards stationed on duty here. Each 'cell' is kept sparse, equipped only with a basic cot for sleeping, an outcropping of earth for seating, and the 'bars' are formed from the near-unbreakable roots of Laisidhiel.
