Name: Teah Jamison Oliver
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Occupation: Science Officer/"Fixer"/General busybody. He works with technology on an instinctual level.
Physical Description: Blonde, golden eyed and adorable, Oliver carries a typical science geek look. He is about five feet, six inches tall, his hair longer than regulation by about nine inches, and his vibrant eyes a bit wider than they should be because he's always looking around and observing. He has a straight, thin nose and full-ish lips. His build in thin, due to his eating habits. He has quick, talented hands and slightly askew ears, adding just a dash of goofiness to his appearance. His clothes are generally disordered, his hair in a high ponytail, and his shoes off. He wears small, round wire-framed glasses, because he thinks that corrective surgery will fry his brain.
Personality: Oliver is like a spastic little brother who is way smarter than you. He tends to think that a lot of things are dangerous, especially for his brain. He's only a little OCD, enough to be slightly noticeable but not enough to keep him from being useful. He likes cheese sandwiches, candy corn, and orange juice. Some think that makes him seem childish, and they would be right. Oliver is completely childish, which is the only thing that keeps him from being totally awesome on a regular basis. Most of the time he can be found waving a juice box around and spouting technobabble.
Crash landing, hm? Oliver doesn't care about supplies (besides his food) or communication, not even rescue. All he cares about is whether or not there is anything on the planet that will fry his brain. It seems to be his only concern; that and keeping his juice and snacks well-supplied. Other than that he adapts well to situations that do not feature impending doom. He's a bit of a coward, but if his scientific interest is piqued, all thought of danger leaps out the window. This leaves him as a brilliant but slightly unstable member of any exploring team.
Oliver can patch up or break anything relatively quickly with his gadgets, but its always a quick fix. He doesn't have the attention span to repair anything completely. He could, if given the right motivation, or bribes (candy works best), but his time is best spent patching up things until a technician can get to them. Occasionally he gets absorbed in a pet project and disappears for days in order to complete it. He loves wires and plugs and circuits.
History: Teah Oliver was born in England, in Surrey, to two very eccentric lesbians, one a painter, the other a women's rugby champion. They had high hopes that he would grow up to be either an artist or a sports star, but very early on they learned that Teah was very obviously, and disappointingly, a science genius. That didn't stop their support of him, but they did baby him a bit too much.
As a teenager, he followed the road of many science prodigies, and advanced in school well above his age group, though in a program that kept him with other child geniuses. After working in a government facility for two weeks, Oliver got bored and quit. He descended into his own projects, and even sold a few patents. His greatest object is a sonic screwdriver, and that he keeps for himself. Mostly because no one expressed interest in it. :<
He was very content being an eccentric genius hermit, until he was offered a place on the Peregrine. He got really excited over that, and jumped at the chance to find new things that would not make him bored. Of course... he drove many others nuts on the ship with all his complaining.
Particular Skills: He used to have two pet ferrets named Chester and Louis, but had to give them up when he got on the ship. He used to train them to do circus tricks with cheetos. Also, he makes sculptures out of starch packing peanuts that stick to each other when licked. He likes puppetry, but insofar is no good at ventriloquism. Sometimes he plays rugby when he's confident the other players won't beat him up.
Other Stuff: Oliver is probably treated as annoying but cute and harmless, and thus endearing.
