Of late, Serenity had been spending quite a bit of time in the Seconds world, though it was rare that she actually walked through the city now. But today was different ... today, she wanted to take Ian out for ice cream, just as they had the day they had met Gaunt and Prince. Those two weren't available today, so for the first time in a long time it was just the two of them.
"Do you remember the way, Ian?" Serenity, now an adult, called after her surprise-stage son.
The little blue-haired boy nodded brightly, his lavender eyes skimming the shop signs as he and Serenity made their way through the crowd.
"It sure is busy here today," he commented as he rode on her shoulder. "You'd almost think it was a holiday or something."
He jumped to his feet, making Serenity flinch slightly, and pointed at a brightly painted sign above a small, almost unnoticeable door. "There it is!" he shouted. "I see it!"
Serenity laughed. "Right you are! And in we go." And she changed her direction slightly, turning towards the shop and cutting through the crowd.

"Come on Reno. We've got to get to the store and back before grandmother gets home." Havain stated as he walked about the streets. He needed to get back to the real world before Reno's grandmother got back in from her outing.
Reno, a few steps behind, still as small as ever, continued to creep through the streets after his father. "Hold up dad! You just gotta wait up. I'm so slow!" he said huffing and puffing.
As they turned the corner, both of their eyes caught a glimpse of what seemed to be a person that they had met a long time ago. Serenity...wow! She had grown! Reno was shocked. "SERENITY!?" he exclaimed as his jaw dropped. The duo was shocked to see Serenity once again. It had been SO long.

Serenity and Ian had just reached the door of the ice cream shop when all of a sudden Ian heard Serenity's name being called out. He grabbed onto her ear to balance himself and whirled around, his eyes seeking out the caller.
"Mom! Mom!" he exclaimed, trying to stop her from going into the shop. "Someone's calling you! Listen!"
Serenity reached up and grabbed the back of Ian's shirt - automatic reaction from a time when he had actually fallen from her shoulder - then turned and looked around, also trying to see who could have called her. She couldn't see anyone ... the crowd was so thick, but she didn't recognize anyone ...
"Wait," she breathed softly to herself, peering at one particular man. He seemed ... somewhat familiar, as if from a distant memory ...
"THERE!" Ian exclaimed, almost shouting in Serenity's ear. He was pointing at a small boy, just the slightest smidgen bigger than he was, who seemed to be hurrying along after the man that Serenity was staring at.
Serenity's gaze followed Ian's finger, and her eyes grew wide in shock when she saw who he was pointing at.
"RENO!" she exclaimed happily; and forgetting about the ice cream she and Ian were going to get, she pushed her way through the crowd and knelt in front of him. "It's been so long! How have you been? It's so great to see you again!"
Ian had pressed himself against the side of Serenity's head and was holding onto her hair as if for dear life, but now that they had stopped he slowly pried his fingers loose and sat down carefully on her shoulder once more. "Um ... Mom ... who's this?"

Reno smiled and gazed up at the boy who was just about his size. "Oh, hello! I'm Reno haha. I'm an old friend of your moms...Moms!?" Reno exclaimed, realizing exactly what he just said. Even Havain was surprised by the child. But, Serenity was much older now, so sad for Reno, he was still just a boy.
Havain smiled and said, "Well, I best be off. It was great seeing you Serenity. Reno, I'll be at home if you need anything, okay? I really just have to get home. You two have fun now."
With that, Havain was off. Reno smiled as he watched his father trot off. Reno just looked up at his old friend, smiling. "Wow, it's really great to see you too. I haven't seen anyone for a long while. Who knows...someday I may be that big. Haha." he said, still rather shocked to find that Serenity had a child. Well, besides that, it had been well over a year since the two last met. Who knew, hopefully Reno could grow and have children too. Seeing Serenity with them was a nice eye opener that Reno hadn't done much but sit home for the last year. He had put on a couple pounds too, oh well, over all changes didn't occur. He was just happy to finally see Serenity once again.

Serenity smiled and waved to Havain as he headed off, then smiled down at Reno. She knew she was tall - very tall, even for Second standards, standing at six foot two without heels - but the truth was that in her family, she was still one of the short ones. Still, she knew what Reno meant, and her heart went out to him.
"We were about to go for some ice cream," she told Reno, holding one hand out to him. "Want to come along?"
Reno's words had made Ian thoughtful. 'Someday', he had said ... but it sounded as if he were older, since he'd said he hadn't seen anyone in a long while. Of course how long a long while was depended on the person who said it ... but still ...
"Are you like me?" he couldn't help but ask before the other boy even had a chance to answer Serenity's question. "Mom says I'll never grow, probably 'cos when she found me I was almost starved to death."
