Gender: Female
Physical description: Christine is half-Korean, half-Caucasian and only stands 5’3” tall. At 33, she already has strands of white hair showing poking through the sea of dark brown due to continual stress brought on by her current job. She is of medium build, only slightly overweight. She has light tan skin, a round face, brown almond-shaped eyes, thin lips, shoulder-length dark brown hair in loose curls, and pointed eyebrows. She keeps her hair clipped to the side, but she doesn’t clip it tight enough so several strands continue to come loose over time. She often wears loose T-shirts and jeans, but once in a while she’ll try on a nice blouse or a long skirt.
Personality: Naturally brilliant, but equally lazy. Easily angered on touchy subjects, but tolerant most of the time. Hates loud children, dislikes foreign cuisine, and loathes pink frilly anything. Likes fresh laundry, adores plush toys, and loves chicken. She appears reticent most of the time and seems to have an angry scowl on her face, but often she is thinking deeply about her job and where she’s going in life. Once you get to know her, she’s lively, friendly, and quirky. Though she’s very good with words, she gets her thoughts said…even if others have to guess at half the sentences.
History/background: Christine’s mother is Korean and her father is an American, whose family tree consists of a majority of American-born members. Although the older members of her father’s family refused to see the marriage through, his own parents encouraged him to marry Christine’s mother. As a result, the family was cut off from communication. Throughout most of her childhood, Christine was often ignored by both the Asian and Caucasian communities since she would fall behind on the trends of both sides simultaneously. She focused primarily in getting through school and graduating college with a degree. Through her hard work, she got her degree in Humanities and got a job as a social worker. However, her clients were often rowdy children and her stress began to pile up exponentially. As a result, she spent her free time writing stories. Her short stories soon got published thanks to a child who stole one of Christine’s notebooks and promptly showed it to his mother. Christine then found herself working for a magazine company writing short stories. Even though she's not used to the constant deadlines, she enjoys her life for the most part.
Why they applied: Though the few stories she has written were well received, Christine felt that attending a special workshop hosted by a legendary writer would help improve her writing so that she’d be able to move on to being a full-time story writer. She’s very much interested in meeting the other selected few to get some feedback on some characters she has in mind.Names to call her by: Chris, Nora, Tine (pronounced teen)

Species Canine Displacer Beast (a hybrid)
Physical description: Tall, gangly, and purple, Eurich was Christine’s first and most favorite character and can often be found in many of her writings that she does off on the side. His mother was a displacer beast (a feline D&D creature) and his father was a wolf. For obvious reasons, the two were forbidden from seeing each other, but they managed to secretly disappear from society and birth Eurich, who, through a genetic mutation, ended up as an anthro rather than a quadruped like his parents. He looks like an anthropomorphic wolf with purple fur, short green hair, yellow green eyes, long ‘anubis’ ears, four arms, and a long fluffy tail. He has a bit of a snout ending with a green dog-like nose, but it’s not as pronounced like an animal’s. He’s 6’7” tall and very thin due to poor living conditions. He wears a loose tank top and a pair of goth pants he stole, his only other outfit being a scarf and a pair of knee-length jean shorts.
Personality: For someone who has lived a tough life in the underground society, Eurich is fairly laidback and brushes things off to the side. He is relatively unfazed by what goes on since he has gotten used to the harsh environment. Since he was a teen, he has recruited two other guys into his gang and attracted a couple of unwanted guests as well. Of the rare times he gets angry, his eyes glow red and the space around him warps, a special ability passed down through his mother. However, he cannot harness this power to quickly warp short distances whenever he wants. The power seems to be triggered by extreme emotions.

 The storyTitle: Crazy Castaways (working title)
* Eurich, age 14, is found getting bullied by other members of the underground society, all humans. As anthros are considered a minority, he is constantly picked on and eventually he is forced into the service of a sleazy gang of runaways and thieves as a slave dog. Eventually, he has earned enough respect to be treated as the boss’s personal servant, a position not much better off than the first. He does all of the boss’s dirty work, which includes eliminating competing gangs. On Eurich’s first job to kill the leader of a gang encroaching on his boss’s turf, he meets Sammy Shepherd, an anthro goat. Sammy later saves Eurich from a collapsing building due to a trap set off by the opposing gang leader.
* Sammy helps smuggle Eurich across the country. He also helps Eurich in starting his own gang, though for the longest time it was just the two of them. Over several years, the two become close friends, surviving in the city, living in an abandoned warehouse, and getting into trouble with the law more often than not.
* The two meet with the prince of a nation of lamia, or snake people, who faked his death to run from an arranged marriage. Nicolai Lamille forces himself upon Eurich and Sammy, who welcome him into their gang grudgingly.
* One particular night at the dance club ends badly with a murder and Nicolai is to blame since he woke from a hangover with bloodstains all over him. Sammy and Eurich work to prove his innocence.
* Eurich and Sammy fight over what they think is the right thing to do and split up, each trying to convince Nico to listen to them. Eventually, new evidence puts Sammy in jail as well and Eurich realizes that the whole murder was set up to put all of them in jail. The murderer was a member of his former gang trying to get revenge.
* With the help of willing citizens, Eurich proves the innocence of his friends and they put the real murderers in jail. The three go back to their warehouse, refusing any offers of help and better homes. They’d rather be together and live the crazy life of a gang. Author's NotesThe Universe
A Brief History: The Earth of >insert title here< is much like our own, but here fantastical creatures co-exist among humans. Vampires, aliens, and anthros of all animal species are some of the numerous species on the planet. Throughout most of history, prior to the Great Uprising and the International Union of Species Conference, humans have predominantly controlled the population of the 'lesser' species, and they have also written their books in favor of humans, most of the time never mentioning any other species. Of the few books that have been published about the other species, most are 'fictional' tales created to scare children. Once the conference took place, which subsequently ended the war, the non-human species have increased in numbers dramatically. However, much like their hatred for other human races, humans have likewise shown hostility towards other species in the initial years. 5 years later, which is the present day, not much has improved. Many of the other species continue to live in underground communities while only a handful have successfully integrated themselves into the lives of humans.
Great Uprising: Some humans say that this war should never had happened, others say that it should have happened long ago. The GU was a war that took place around the new millenium, right after the destruction of the Forest Folks' Twin Citadels by Sapienists, radical humans for the complete domination of humans and the total elimination of the lesser species (In our world, this is the equivalent of 9/11). From then on, the oppressed non-human species rose up to fight for their long-awaited freedom. This four-year struggle cost both humans and other species many lives and resources, leaving no place on Earth untouched by the scars of war. Both sides used slaves and POWs to spy on each other, which led to betrayals and more bloodshed. In the end, both sides wore each other out and came to a truce in the form of an international conference.
International Union of Species Conference and the Treaty of Species: Perhaps the most important conference in history, the IUSC was held on an abandoned island in the middle of the Pacific for an entire month. Each species chose an ambassador to represent their own, who then arrived on the island to discuss a treaty with every human world leader. Because of the number of species represented in the conference, it wasn't a surprise that it took a month to come to an agreement. During this month, neither side fought, but rather took the time to rescue and heal. The signed Treaty of Species was greeted with great applaud, though riots from both sides brought grief for many more weeks. Each species has their own copy of the treaty. The humans also have one copy, which travels around the world to be displayed in human museums.
Present Day Society: It's five years after the Conference and the Earth is slowly patching itself up back to its former glory, or as close to it as possible. These five years have brought about miraculous changes in society for both humans and the other species; at the same time, new obstacles have also come up to slow down the growth of the relationship between species. Territorial disputes have caused animosity between certain species, hate crimes towards other species by humans have started to spread like wildfire, and the general living conditions of other species have not had much improvements made. Organizations like United Earth and the World Species Foundation were found to specifically improve the life of other species and to raise awareness among the humans. Despite their attempts, only a few have integrated into human society. Many continue to live underground or in special human-free districts on Earth. Job-wise, most species still work for humans as laborers, doing all the dirty jobs no one else wants to do. However, some have been allowed to be servants for the rich. It is common to see many species still enslaved, especially in factories and in most pro-human gangs. Only one notable non-human has been successful with international acclaim so far. Rasphos Vorduxe (Er-RASS-fuss Voor-DUKES), a Xujrr (SEW-jee-ur; predominant alien race living on Earth), is the CEO of Vorduxe Works, a critically acclaimed architectural company with many innovative housing plans already in process. He is the shining hope for those wishing for a more peaceful and opportunistic future.
The Other Species: Though many species exist in this alternate universe, most of them are from legends, myths, and pop culture in our world. Things like aliens, vampires, satyrs, elves, weres, anthros, and popular monsters from fictional media that have become staples of the fantasy genre (ie. Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, etc.) exist. Because there is an infinite number of imaginary creatures created throughout all of history, and because many wouldn't work well on this fictional Earth, they are excluded. Many large creatures such as giants and dragons do not exist, though in books it is mentioned that they are extinct much like the dinosaurs. Creatures of less-than-human intelligence, such as those that can be the equivalent of animals in our world (slime bubble creatures, object-based monsters, languageless primitive beings, etc.), are also non-existent. The more primal types of orcs and trolls, for example, that grunt and do nothing but eat, breathe, excrete, procreate, and kill for a living do not exist. Pretty much, the species has to have a level of civility. The only exceptions are creatures that are the equivalent to beasts of burden and mounts, but even then they are limited in number and type depending on the necessity by the species since horses and oxen do just fine and vehicles are preferred for transportation. And just in case anyone is wondering, zombies have intelligence in this universe. They're just like the species they were before their death, only patched up and greenish with the ability of painlessness and enhanced strength. Also, no zombie outbreaks/apocalypses. It's not common to see a zombie since many quotas have to be met in order for someone to become one.

 Daniel Baxter - The ferryman. Christine chose to read the entire trip so she didn't pay much attention to this fellow. Once on the island, Chris forgets who he is entirely.
Jason Hughes - The one man who was at the dock before she was. Though Chris tried to smile at him, he didn't notice and continued to be nervous.
Izzy Maxwell - The person who came after her. Chris currently has no relationship with her, but knows she exists.
Ophelia Culpepper - Christine's first thought: How rude! Christine's second thought: Messy person. Felia reminds Chris of her roommate in college, whom she hated and wished that that year never happened. Looks like she's gonna have to put up with Felia though as she is Chris' roommate.
