  Name: Moira Reed
Age: 31 years old.
Gender: Female.
Physical description: Moira Reed is an average Italian lady. She stands at 5'6 even, and has a bit of meat on her bones. She has very wide hips, a sort of bottom-heavy hour glass figure to be honest. Her hair goes down to the middle of her back, but usually she has it tied back. Unless straightened, it tends to curl and frizz in humidity, so Moira just ties it back or braids it so it's out of her face. She has an olive-based tan complexion, and big green eyes. Her mouth is wide, and she's nearly always smiling.
Personality: Quiet and mature, one wouldn't think that Moira Reed was the writer of Severina Cromwell. She's intelligent and easily amused, busying herself with hobbies when she's not writing. She lives in a brick house by herself, so solitude tends to make her more comfortable than being in a group. She comes off as classy and confident, but beneath that she's just as insecure about her weight and shape, her hair, her smile... She's human, what can you expect? For thirty one, she doesn't have much claim to fame and it does bug her that she's getting close to that big 4-0 and she hasn't done anything notable with her life.
History: Born in a small town in Italy to an all-Italian family, Moira Reed was the middle child of seven. She was used to being overlooked because of her brother's achievements in football, or her younger sister's sudden break into puberty. While the house she lived in was loud and kind of obnoxious, Moira loved her family very much. As time went on and Moira grew older, her brothers were married and moved out, and then her younger sisters began to date seriously while Moira buried her nose into her fairy tale books.
It concerned her parents to no end that Moira was so shy, but what they mistaked for shyness was just a love of solitude. Having grown up with little affection from her parents, Moira turned to books to feel as though she were living her own story. Despite all the fairy tales and their romantic sappy plot lines, Moira found that as she got older, she wasn't nearly as concerned as her younger sisters to get married and start popping out babies one after the next.
By the time Moira was twenty two and her closest sister in age was 20 and already married, Moira realized that she wasn't interested in getting married because she wasn't interested in boys at all. (Alright, so the drunk bridemaid at Maggie's wedding certainly helped her get to that revelation...) Instead of telling her parents this, she knew they'd be disappointed. Her Mother had always spouted about wanting grandchildren from all her babies. So Moira did what anyone in her fairy tale books would do: She ran away.
Of course, being twenty two, 'running away' was more like packing up and moving, but nonetheless, she did it. She moved all the way to the United States for a complete change of scenery, and found a quiet house she could rent with the money she had saved from working with her father. Over the years, she worked a multitude of jobs, all of them monotonous and unimportant. By the time she was thirty, Moira was working as a debt collector making a good amount of money. But it wasn't fulfilling, it wasn't enough.
So Moira turned to writing in her spare time, composing a great deal of short stories that were published in a local magazine. It wasn't going to make her as famous as Baenare, the author of one of her favorite novels as a child, but it was a nice outlet for the frustrations she felt. So she kept writing.
Why they applied: Moira feels incredibly unfulfilled in her life. Even writing in her spare time isn't enough, she wants to write full time. She wants to have one great thing to be remembered by when she passes on, like the great Benjamin Baenare. She hopes by applying to the Island, she'll learn the secret to writing the truly great novels that make people famous. It's not even the money she's after, not really. It's all about having something to claim as her own.
