Faeqa cracked open one hazel eye and snorted softly as her sister pushed her way into the den, eyes bright and ears pert. The look on her face had Faeqa on edge. What had she been up to now? She reeked of mischief and that could only mean one thing: She’d been breaking rules again. She lifted her head and pulled herself up into a sitting position, peering at her little sister through the bangs of her ginger hair.
“Faeqa, there you are!”
“Where did you think I was going to be, Naji?” She yawned and her tongue curled in her slender jaws. “The question is, where have you been? I know that look.”
Najiyya put on her ‘innocent face’ and stalked across to the ginger sibling, reaching up to rub the top of her head under Faeqa’s chin. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Yes you do, love.”
“I was only taking a quick peek.” Najiyya insisted.
“Peek? A peek at what?”
Najiyya fluttered her pretty whiskers and cast her eyes aside. “The males.” Her voice was quiet but she didn’t seem truly ashamed of it.
“Najiyya! Are you mad? Eyeing up males might have been okay with old Laith, but not now. We belong to Faiz.” And though she wouldn’t say, Faeqa was quite happy with how their situation had worked out for them. Laith had been nice but he had been old and he never had given much time to showing his affections. Now they were with a new male: young and terribly handsome. Faeqa smiled to think of him and Najiyya noticed.
“You’re smiling.” The white sister teased.
“What? No I’m not.” Faeqa stood and moved out into the sunshine, turning as her sister followed.
“Yes you were. You like him, don’t you?”
“Who?”
“Don’t play the fool.” Najiyya replied, rubbing against her sister’s side. She was a touchy-feely type of lioness very open with her affection. “I’m talking about Faiz.”
“Well of course I like him. We are his. We have to like him.”
“Hmm.” Najiyya eyed her sister through her eyelashes, smiling daintily. The siblings knew each other well and Naji knew that Faeqa looked up to Faiz more than she was letting on.
A little huffy at her sister’s teasing, Faeqa moved off again, away from the den and across the land. Naji hung behind, teasing as she went. “You going to look for him, now? Can’t bear to be apart for so long!”
Faeqa, setting her jaw, quickened her pace.

The aforementioned lion was currently lying more or less dozing beneath a tree, very near to the lake that bordered their territory. The rather large, though nowhere near stocky, Vizier lay sprawled out on his side, eyes closed with a small frown on his face. In truth he was deep in thought over his words from several days ago. If Aali did go raiding, there certainly wasn't enough pride members to go with AND stay and watch the females AND keep everyone in line. It was most certainly a dilemma, and one he really didn't want to be bothered with, in all honesty.
But there was no helping it. He was his brother's Vizier, let alone his confidant and friend. He would ponder over what to suggest be done whether he liked it or not.
He had come to this place to clear his head and think. He had trouble doing so around his treasures, especially Tuliua at this time. Despite her current draw, he needed time alone to think, and she did as well. So he went to the one place that he knew was quiet and peaceful.
When he had been young and learning to be the sultan, his father had brought him to this very spot, sat him beneath the tree, and told him to look out onto the water.
"What do you see?" Qasim had asked and the young Emir had squinted his eyes against the sun glinting off the water. "I see the water, Father." "What else do you see? Look harder." "I... I don't see anything." "You don't see the waters moving back and forth with the wind? How easily they are disturbed? Even a tiny stone can break the surface and send ripples across, getting bigger and bigger as they go. You must remember, my son, that even the smallest stone can make big changes. Never underestimate those that might appose you. Even the smallest can be formidable..."
Faiz thought his father was a little extreme, but a wise lion nonetheless. This spot held fond memories of the two lions coming to discuss various political topics, sometimes going to wash after sparring practices. After his father's death, it took a good while before Faiz was able to return to this place. But when he finally did, he began making a habit of it.

Najiyya’s voice rang true through the air. “Oh, come on Sis. I was only joking. Don’t walk so fast!” She was moving swiftly now, her paws barely touching the ground and suddenly, ahead of her, Faeqa broke out into a run. With a sigh, the shorter, white lioness forced herself after.
Strangely, the run did both sisters some good. Running was good for the heart. Good for the soul.
Faeqa lifted her head to the wind, felt it rustle through her fur, felt it refresh her, pull away all her irritation. And before she knew it, she was smiling, the sun gleaming across her brilliant orange pelt. She turned her head back and noticed her sister flagging. Yes, Faeqa wasn’t the prettiest of lionesses but she was swift and a good huntress. It was one thing she had that her sister didn’t.
“Give up, Naji. You’ve never been able to outrun me.”
“Wait up!” She was slowing now, a pout on her pretty little face. “Where are you going?”
Faeqa slowed to a halt, turning to wait for her sister to catch up. “To the hunt.”
“For Faiz?”
“Who else?” Faeqa flattened her ears and scowled, but the expression softened a moment later. She could never stay mad at her sister for too long.
“Can I come?”
“If you want.”
Najiyya purred and, in her typical show of affection, reached up to rub her muzzle against Faeqa’s. “So I’m forgiven?”
“I suppose. Come on. Let’s get going. Time is running thin and we’ve yet to reach the hunting grounds.” She turned and moved onwards, firm, swift movements of her paws. Najiyya trotted at her flank, less focused – as usual. It was she who spotted the Vizier lying there beneath the tree that fringed the lake. Her eyes sparkled and she made an effort to quicken her pace, cutting in front of her sister and halting their procession.
“Najiyya, what are you--?”
“—Look, Fae, he’s over there!”
“Who?” The word was barely out of her mouth as she turned and spotted him. Sleek, grey and handsome. But he seemed as if he didn’t want to be bothered and she hesitated. They were Banu. Fae knew her place and she was not about to disturb him when he clearly wanted some time alone. No, best keep moving, hunt, and bring him back some food. Yes. That was the best course of action.
Sadly, Najiyya was not of the same sensible thinking. Before Faeqa could stop her she was bounding forwards towards him.
“Naji, stop!” Faeqa hissed, eyes darting nervously between the two.
But Najiyya didn’t hear her. She closed the gap between herself and the grey lion and lifted her head to call to him. “Good day, Faiz!”
Faeqa groaned, dipping her head and ears low, her face apologetic. Why she loved her sister so, she would never know. All she did was cause trouble!

Faiz's ears twitched at a familiar voice and his tail-tip flicked upwards a bit before flopping back down. One lazy sky blue eye opened about halfway, to be joined slowly by its brother as he gave his ladies a sleepy smile. "And good day to you, Faeqa, little Naji. What have my most lovely pair of ladies been up to today?" he asked, turning his almost bored-looking attention to Naji, giving her a look that was some parts stern suspicion and some parts mild amusement.
"Not getting into troublesome mischief, I hope," he added, specifically for the white lioness of the pair. Oh, how they amused him in their contrasting personalities. Faeqa was so calm and loyal to him. And Naji was, well... Naji. He had still yet to teach her where the uncrossable lines were, for she seemed to enjoy crossing, but in all honesty, he liked seeing Faeqa watching out for her sister, just as much as he, every so often, liked to chase his wayward banu down himself. It was actually quite a thrill sometimes.
He stood slowly with measured movements, stretching before heading over to them. To Naji, he gave a playful n** on one of her ears, grinning lazily at her before stepping to Faeqa and giving her a tender nuzzle, his grin having morphed into a more pleasant smile with the gesture.

Najiyya purred deeply and shot her sister a look that simply said: ‘don’t worry so much.’ Then, with a chirp she turned back to gaze intently at the grey-pelted male. At his compliment she tipped her head and peered up at him through fluttering eyelashes, noting his stern look and wriggling a little beneath his gaze.
Faeqa’s face spoke of a blush even if her fur covered it from sight. “Nothing so important, Vizier Faiz. Day-to-day business is all.” She paused and then lowered her eyes. “We were just seeking prey to hunt for you.”
And in response to his words about mischief, Naji lifted her ears and gave him a small smile. “Not today, Faiz.” And in response to his playful n** she gave another purr and stepped forwards, rubbing against him momentarily before turning to watch the interaction between him and her sister. It was always fun to watch the two, especially Faeqa.
The ginger one held still, accepting the nuzzle as one would accept an honoured, beautiful gift. Her breath was held, her eyes were wide and after a moment she gave the smallest of purrs. “I apologise for our interruption of your peace and quiet, Vizier Faiz. My sister, as you know, tends to act and speak before thinking – a trait I’ve never successfully trained her out of.” She paused, wondering if she’d said too much.
Najiyya, smiling and purring, stepped closer to the male, rubbing her cheek against his side. “There’s nothing wrong with being spontaneous, is there, sister?” She replied teasingly. “Perhaps you should try it some time.”
Faeqa frowned and pointedly ignored the white one, turning her eyes shyly back to the male. “H-how do you fare?”

"Now, my dear," Faiz chided softly with a chuckle at Faeqa's continuous persistence for calling him by his title. It was just as bad as Tuliua calling him sir all the time. "There is no reason to call me by anything but my name when its just us. Vizier is such a formal word for public matters, not for when I'm spending some welcome time with two of my very lovely banu," he finished, leaning into Naji's nuzzling. He sat down and smiled fondly at Faeqa. Her response to his nuzzle was most parts pleasing and yet some parts slightly frustrating. He liked how she seemed to take so much pleasure and surprise out of it, but she seemed a bit like she didn't get them enough to be "used" to them.
That would have to be rectified.
"That is very thoughtful of you, going hunting for me without me having to ask. How lucky I am to have found such precious gems," he added, giving them a playful wink.

She dipped her head. "M-my apologies Vizi...Faiz." She quickly corrected herself. Sure, Laith had been just Laith, but he had been an eldery male and had held no great importance in the pride - except for being male, of course, which gave him enough importance that the sisters had respected and loved him.
But the transition from Laith to Faiz had been an easy one. The grey male had always caught Fae's eye and to be his banu was...well, it was a dream come true! And there was no way she was going to spoil it by stepping out of line.
She smiled then, lifting her head and allowing another quiet purr to tickle at her throat. Precious gems? Thoughtful? Her heart stirred and she was clearly touched by her words.
Najiyya, smiling widely, continued to rub against the male. "It was Fae's idea, Faiz. She wants to make you proud of her. She wants to earn your attentions. Isn't that right, Sis?" She cooed and batted her eyelashes, knowing how much it would wind the other up. "She thinks you are very handsome, Faiz."
Faeqa bristled suddenly and her whole body went rigid. Her mouth opened to respond but nothing of much sense uttered forth. "I-I...Please...Vi--Faiz. Don't listen to her prattle."

Faiz grinned. "There's nothing to apologize for, Fae," he replied and his grin grew at her sister's words. He growled playfully and nuzzled Naji a bit more roughly, in a playful manner. "Despite the fact that I find the idea of Faeqa wanting my attention and affections and the opinions on my appearance highly pleasing, you shouldn't tease her like that," he chuckled as he smiled softly at Fae. "Even though the reaction was quite adorable."
Oh, what a villain he was, teasing her right after chiding Naji for doing the same thing. But he was often a truthful lion and he honestly really did like the reaction. Not so much the words themselves, just the way they were said. He liked keeping them on their toes, if they could handle it. And despite everything, he was quite sure that his lovely Faeqa could handle his teasing.

Najiyya giggled and eagerly accepted his nuzzlings. The attention from Faiz was something that made her giddy and energetic. Just being near him made her more bouncy than normal. Her eyes glittered and with a loud purr, she stepped to move up alongside her sister. It seemed to take great effort to move from his side, though.
"She's used to it." She replied casually. Then she turned her head to gaze at her sister, chuckling under her breath. "You ready to go, Fae?"
The ginger-pelted one had been lost in thought, gazing at the grey one with clear adoration in her eyes. She was startled back to her senses as her sister used her name and flustered and fumbled for words. "Um, oh, uh. Yes. Yes, of course." She dipped her head towards the Vizier and took the tiniest of steps back.
"If you agree, we'll take our leave and hunt for you, F-Faiz." Yes, it was difficult saying his name without the title before it.

Faiz's smile turn gentle and he stepped forward again, to Faeqa so that he could give her a gentle nuzzle. He hummed slightly as he enjoyed the feeling of his cheek rubbing against hers, eyes closed behind the mane that partially covered them. "Only if you want to, my sweets," he replied softly, but loud enough for both of them to hear him. He slowly pulled away and smiled that lazy smile of his at them, flicking his mane from his eyes enough for them to see them spark a bit as he surveyed them.
"Happy hunting, should you return to the hunt, and be safe," the Vizier added, nodding his head a bit.

Najiyya, with a smile, bade farewell to the Vizier and made to get a head-start, knowing her sister would easily catch up if she so wished. It was silly, really, being so shy around Faiz. She'd have to give her sister a good talking too later!
Faeqa, purring from the affectionate nuzzle, dipped her head again, ever respectful. "We shall bring a great prize. You shall have your fill." Her voice was quiet, her eyes shy but happy. "Farewell." And with another dip of her head she turned and moved off after her sister, quickening her step so that she might catch up with the smaller, white female.
She paused, glanced over her shoulder and smiled.
Yes, she thought to herself, he is a good male. And with that she moved on, calling after her sister to wait up.
(( fin? Thanks for the RP hon! So much fun! ))
