How many of you were bar or bat mitzvahed? (Read; how many of you had to suffer through six months of training with your respective cantors? x.X; ) Anything abnormal happen? Invite any celebrities? Tell me about your experience, if you had one. biggrin
My bat mitzvah was awesome. We had 215 people in attendance, I read 8 portions and a 3 1/2 page haftorah, and I got a ton of money. xd
As far as celebrities go, Ellen Barkin, a semi-famous actress, and Ron Perlman, the owner of Revlon, didn't come, but they sent a private plane for all my family from Oklahoma to fly in on. My grandpa was suffering from pancreatic cancer at the time. (Doesn't help that Ellen + Ron are my second cousins... xD; ) Also, I invited Al Franken. He didn't come. But he sent me a nice note.

My Bat-Mitzvah was kinda quiet. I did the 13 mitzvot project and recieved a medallion from Israel. I was so nervous, I was afraid I'd drop the Torah or mess up my portion. XD
The only semi famous person I know is my old baby sitter, he was in a band. The Aquabats. Semi-popular where I live. He and his family were in our Havorah, so they were automatically invited.

Amitzah My Bat-Mitzvah was kinda quiet. I did the 13 mitzvot project and recieved a medallion from Israel. I was so nervous, I was afraid I'd drop the Torah or mess up my portion. XD OMG. The Torah. Ooh, and they got you a nice present, too. I loved my bat mitzvah jewlery. I like to wear a different necklace every day. I wish I had gotten more than three Tiffany's, though...

hrm... my Bar mitzva was really nice^^
it was in an hotel at Jerusalem. I read all my Parasha and all the Haftarah! 3nodding but when they started throwing the candys it was too painful so I looked and I discovered my aunts throwed on me Drajea(=a Moroccan candy, its a almond covered with chocolate and its hurts like hell xp ) but basiclly it was fun^^

none...... At my temple, they stopped allowing us to throw candies. Said the rabbi got hit too much. You read the whole parasha and haftorah? That's pretty impressive, yo! I know it took me forever to learn all that. xX;

angelic elf it tooked me about 3 months once a week for 2 months and twice a week in the last month x_X I'v read "Vikra" its soooooooooooooo long and hard to learn. but even now 4 years after I still remember it all xd I still remember my haftorah, but not my parasha. I think reading haftorah is soo much easier... I'm not looking forward to reading a portion on February 12th for my rabbi's 10th anniversary. I want the haftorah x.x; Hey, is Vikra the same as Vayikra, or do I need to brush up my knowledge of the parashot? Because if it is, I read the double portion right before yours. Vayakel-Pekudei. heart

I've been corrected more times than I've been right. crying Your brother has the COOLEST portion ever then, man. Was it on Shabbat HaChodesh? That's when mine was, so I had to read from Bo too. And my haftorah was HaChodesh. 3nodding

cry crying I want to be batmitzvahed cry crying but no no no Tina can't be batmitzvahed no no no we have to make her life miserable because her parents have complete control over her life and she can't have a batmitzvah instead i have to confirmed in the cathlic relgion ::rubbs tongue with soup after saying that because i don't like the words:: cry crying

I get my car on my 16th birthday which is aug. 16th, and after that, I can almost do what ever I want. that means I can drive my self to shul, i can go to convertion classes, and and and and I can go out and poke people at bakers ninja 4laugh mrgreen exclaim exclaim
Well not the poke people at bakers but but but at bakers i saw this little boy.. well 2 i think they were twins 4laugh which makes them even more adorable but they had yamika's on so adorable ... stare I know that isn't what they are REALLY called, but cut me some slack ok please and thank you.
