I just got back from seeing Drag Me To Hell. It was awesome. Sam Raimi is god. The only complaint I have about the film is the lack of chainsaw and boomstick.
Oh, and cookie for whoever knows what the quote in the poll is from.

Army of Darkness?
It would make sense because of Sam Raimi being the directors, but I thought it was a trick? o.o;
My friends have all seen that movie, I'm broke and therefore couldn't afford it when they all went. :/ Bitches.
Except that they found it blazingly funny instead.

Except that they found it blazingly funny instead. You're right. He does in fact say, "It's a trick. Get an axe.". :hands over cookie:
There were some hilarious scenes in the film, though. The theatre I was in was sparsely packed, and all of us in there were Evil Dead fans, so there were segments where the entire theatre laughed at a single comment someone would shout. The best example was when the camera slowly panned to show the gypsy in a place she really shouldn't be, and as she came into focus someone shouted with an old woman-like voice, "Who's in mah fruit cellah!?" It was amusing.
The only bad part was that I had to explain all these inside jokes to the girl that went with me. ><

Nazu: :keeps the cookie in a box:
I've only fully watched one movie with Bruce, and that was My name is Bruce. D= I've seen bits and pieces of some other movies, but that was the only movie I really paid attention to. Mostly because my friend was there with me going, "LOLOOLOL U HAFF TO WATCH DIS."
o.o;
Aww. I'm that kind of girl, even if I know the meaning of the inside jokes, I'm slow to realize stuff and end up going, "OOH I KNOW NOW" half-way through the explanation. :3

Rottentomatoes has it at a 90% approval rating.
The problem is that Sam Raimi isn't the kind of director to get a mainstream following, outside of the Spiderman films. He really returned to his roots with Drag Me to Hell, his roots being low budget horror. While Drag Me To Hell was by no means low budget, the toss ups to his films from the 80's were awesome, and well implemented.
Modern viewers simply don't get the film. An appreciation for the horror films from the 80's is required to enjoy it. If you don't have that, you won't get the full experience. The slapstick moments in the film went over the heads of a lot of viewers.
@ Undies: You should really rent Evil Dead I & II. They're classics. Shop smart! Shop S-Mart!

The spiderman movies really sucked a** though. It portrays spiderman as this little timid emo b***h, and i don't like that. In the comics he was portrayed as an actual character, with actual problems. Not internal s**t. That, and he had to make his own web. He couldn't just shoot it out of his wrists.

The comics have had years to develop him. The movies have roughly an hour and a half each, along with budget restraints. I don't like the Spiderman movies myself. I prefer Raimi when he sticks with the horror genre.

Did he burn his friend's girlfriend? I thought they just dismember her. I remember when the camera focuses on her limbs as they twitch and s**t. So delightfully brutal.
I must say, my favorite scene in the Evil Dead films was probably in II when Ash goes to the shed, saws off the barrel of the shotgun, and attaches the chainsaw to his arm, then the camera zooms in on his face and looks like a stereotypical action movie star for a second and says, "Groovy".
