My legs and butt are not conformational proportionate according to saddle makers. Small butt and long legs. My butt is much more comfortable in a 16.5 seat, however, my legs need a longer flap, so I ride in a 17.5in. cant afford to have a saddle custom built today, what would you suggest?

Also, I use a thin pad, but my friend has a enough cushion under her saddle to create a sectional sofa. I found through experimenting what pad my mare is more comfortable in, and it did happen to be the thin square pad. Not my favorite of them all, because I find it slips, and even though the girth goes through the straps, and it also has the hook to go on the middle billet. The pad still slips . My other pads dont, but this was a cheaper pad that I actually picked up to go under my good fleece pad, so I didnt get my fleece pad dirty.. what about the gel like pads?

I know I am opening myself up to be completely critisized, but how is my saddle placement.

That isnt the pad she likes, infact that is the one she does the worst in. She doesnt move as freely in that pad, so I did stop using it, but dont have any pictures. I have been switching pads around like crazy! Trying to find which one we like the best!

If the thin pad is what works best, then that's good! It means that your saddle actually fits! A saddle with an ideal fit shouldn't even actually need a pad. The pad's purpose is theoretically to protect your saddle and keep it clean, not to cushion your horse's back. It's better to have a properly fitting saddle rather than pad up a poorly fitting one. Padding can have its own problems with pressure points etc...

As far as slipping is concerned, how is it slipping? Is it slipping backwards even with all of the straps? You can get non-slip pads that are pretty thin to go under saddle blankets. I personally really like the Nunn Finer ones.

The link wasn't working for me...

yea, the pad slips like down and back. It bunches up behind my leg and it's not comfortable at all. I think I read somewhere that you can get cabinet liners from walmart and make a sticky pad thing out of them. do you know what I'm talking about? the rolls of material that have holes in them? I don't know if you would cut an entire pad from it or just a piece or what.

The cabinet liners sounds like a great idea. I would say you'd want to cut out the entire pad so that it doesn't have uneven pressure anywhere.

And I would say your saddle is a little far forward for my taste and could impede the free movement of the shoulder, but it's a pretty subjective field. Everyone had different opinions.

And you should be wearing a helmet razz
(Sorry, I have to, I'm a NARHA instructor...)
