Alienware stuff is usually pretty good...
However, you'll pay far more than what it's probably worth... probably...
But, for gaming, it should work pretty well...
However, IMO, gaming laptops are not as good as gaming desktops... see, you can easily upgrade desktops to continue to add onto their lifespan... but options with a laptop are limited...
I mean, if you HAVE to have a laptop that games, then fine... but if you're fine with a compy that just sits there, and can play games... that's the route to go.
But, that's just my personal opinion...
And if you need something a bit less powerful, for on the go, then get a cheap laptop, and a nice gaming desktop... you'll most likely not spend more than what you would have otherwise... and you'll have a system whose lifespan is longer... o_o( )

I don't know much about computers and such, but I can say this from personal experience:
Don't get anything with Vista!
But, judging from what you're talking about, you probably already knew that.

I have vista o.O 32 bit, and I've never had any problems with it. basic sum up of vista is that as long as you don't treat it like xp and expect it to be xp, it's not bad. it's much easier to customize and work with in my opinion. and much prettier.

Been using Vista64 (Home and then Ultimate) since it first came out, never had any problems with it. Friend of mine who is an IT guy does DB management and stuff with the atlantic canada emergency services (Main calling hub servers for 4 provinces) uses Vista on all his home PC's and wherever he can at work. I believe they're in the process of upgrading all the servers to run on server 2008 (Server version of Vista) as it's more reliable and can do more than the older versions.
There is nothing wrong with Vista unless you're completely set in your ways and can't adapt a little to the new and IMPROVED environment.
And besides, Windows 7 is coming out soonish and it's looking to be much better than either Vista OR XP, and it's even more of a change from XP than Vista is. Been running the closed and public betas of 7 on my laptop since they first came out.
