Like many Torchwood fans, I am looking forward to Torchwood: Children of Earth. Unfortunately, merely looking forward to this miniseries wasn't enough for me so I did this so, if you have any suggestions on ways I could make this image better please let me know. also, who else is looking forward to Children of Earth?

Wow, that picture was pretty random. confused xd
Anyway, I saw the first two episodes. I wasn't a big fan of the show's first two seasons, but so far this has been pretty entertaining. My only gripe would be that once again the indestructible nature of Captain Jack becomes a big part of the storyline. Some interesting surprises, and Frobisher's a pretty interesting character. I'm actually looking forward to the next episode.

Thanks for keeping it spoiler-free so far, although I probably won't be part of the conversation/thread until I've actually seen it. xp
Aw, I was hoping Jack's indestructibility wouldn't become a super-huge issue.. again. You can only use it for a deus-ex-machina so many times before it gets old. (At least he actually dies unlike some characters I know.)
Ignore my crazy sidetrack rant. xd

OMG the story is so good day 4 has me rightly ticked off I cried like a baby (except not really because my husband was watching with me but he knew I wanted to and made me feel better.) but yeah I don't need to see how many times they can kill Jack and I love Frobisher's I'm not sure if I should hate him or not.I put parts in white just in case it may not be spoilers but just wanted to make sure not to spoil it for people who have to wait the two weeks in the U.S

Well, there's no real way to talk about episode 4 without spoilers, so [highlight below to read]:
Damn, they killed Ianto. Didn't see that coming. Too bad, I liked the character. The Torchwood team is just two people now... eek Are they planning on killing the series, or are Jack and Gwen going to rebuilt with a whole new team?
The 456 aren't all that menacing, even though we've only seen bits and pieces of it, like the alien creature in the first 'Alien' movie. But seeing that 1965 kid all messed up was kind of disturbing.
Things look pretty bad for the Earth now. I hope the ending of this 5-parter lives up to the first 4 episodes. Some of the recent Doctor Who season finales have had cop-out endings, so I really hope that won't be the case this time around. Well, at least it probably won't involve whipping out some miraculously convenient alien tech to solve the problem, since everything but the contact lenses got blown up with the Hub.
I guess we'll know the answer to everything tomorrow... End.

spoilers: yeah some people I have talked to hope that it was just an alien bluff to make them think they killed those people so it looked more evil or something. but I would really not like if they brought Ianto back I probably wouldn't be as mad as when they brought back owen (which they didn't need to do -_- ) but seeing what they did to those kids from 1965 and poor Clem I an really nervous to watch tonights show it is playing out like a really long really good alien movie. and I doubt that this is the end of the series as John Barrowman just bought a new house in Cardiff for when he is filming. But I guess we won't know till tonight crying

Slightly depressing? from the end of episode four and through five had me and my sister in tears.
I've heard talk of I fourth series, Is that still the case? or will they do it without Jack.

Jack's indestructibility didn't turn out to be a huge issue, or at least not like I thought it would be. I don't know.
Part 4 is like a gigantic DEPRESSING spoilerfest so I'm just not going to bother trying to sum up my feelings right now.
Part 5 starts out depressing as hell and never really stops.
Honestly? I don't know how they're gonna do a fifth series under these conditions. major spoiler summary of 4 and 5: --> Ianto's dead, Jack's killed his own grandson and then left the planet, Gwen's going to have a child, and the Hub (with everything in it) is completely destroyed.
If you go by ratings alone, there's no doubt of a fifth series. But taking into account the last two episodes, I'm not so sure anymore. It builds the plot and characters and everything else up -- but to what? I don't know what it'll lead to.

My thoughts on episode 5:
Jack saves the day with some magic technobabble solution. No surprise there, but making Jack have to sacrifice his own grandson to do it was... gonk . So was Frobisher offing his whole family. Definitely one of the most emotion-packed stories we've seen in the extended Who universe. I almost thought Frobisher's secretary was going to Requisition 31 the Prime Minister at the end.
Only two things that irked me in this story. The first was Gwen's 'the Doctor didn't come to save our a** because we suck' monologue, which was pretty hokey and didn't add anything to the story. The second was Jack beaming off the Earth at the end... it got a bit too talky, and I stopped feeling sorry for Jack and just wanted him to hurry up and leave already.
If they do decide to give Torchwood another season, I hope they give it a more focused approach than in seasons 1 and 2. Blowing up the Hub was a good start, because it means that Torchwood no longer has all these alien goodies to conveniently fix their problems (sonic screwdriver-style). But who exactly would be in a new Torchwood? Maybe Gwen, if Rhys will be a stay-at-home dad. Lois? Meh, she was okay I guess. The scary paramilitary lady and her goons? That would drastically change the show, making them more like the Torchwood 1 we saw back in Army of Ghosts. Hmm.
Anyway, despite a few minor quibbles, I'm rating the entire story a 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed Children of Earth, but I don't know how I feel about it. *I mean they killed Ianto! With Gwen as a mother and Jack in space what's next for the torchwood crew? I'm just curious as to where the doctor was during all of this and how what his thoughts on it would be.*

I'm just curious as to where the doctor was during all of this and how what his thoughts on it would be.* * Don't forget about Sarah Jane.* I enjoyed the mini series but share the same feeling as everyone else. I'll watch it again when it comes on BBC America and the Doctor Who Easter special.
