I was bored last night and was thinking about that novice romance novel they always mention in WoT. You know, The Flame, the Heart, & the Blade. Or something along those lines.
This is definitely a stretch. But I was wondering if that book title kinda had a more subtle meaning.
The Flame=to represent the Flame of Tar Valon or the channelers (both genders)
Heart=the base unit of 3 black Ajah sisters, thus, the Black Ajah or even the Shadow
The Blade=I'm not sure what this one might be...perhaps Warders? Or the regular soldiers?

The Flame, The Blade and The Heart, a collection of battle/adventure tales, each with a romance. Includes stories about Birgitte and Gaidal, Anselan and Barashelle, and Rogosh and Dunsinin.
You know, I never thought about it... but knowing Jordan, the name has SOME meaning behind it.
Hum, also there is the Conan book, the "Flame Blade". Could have been influencial, since you know he writes Conan books too!

Very true. I haven't read any of the Conan books...are they good? Actually, I was in a store once and I saw a book saying Robert Jordan, the creator of WoT. I looked at the book, and it was something about colonial times. It just didn't seem RJ ish but I wanted to get it...but I couldn't, since I found a hardback of one of the WoT books for like $15 and I'd already been shopping that day.

Truthfully, I think they're more of a guilty pleasure than a good read. My fiance gets the old Conan books because they're so BAD. I don't know about Jordan's books in that series, though.

A colonial one by Jordan, I checked it out at the library and I couldn't get into it.. I read the first few pages and I was falling asleep.. but it seemed influenced by politics and whatnot, which bore me, so perhaps I didn't give it a chance.
The Conan books.. he has several. The Chronicles of Conan includes three books about this Conan, and The Further Chronicles of Conan have another three, and then I think he has another pair of stories about Conan, but I'm not sure. I've read both The Chronicles of Conan (I own that one) and The Further Chronicles of Conan. I like them. They're a bit more.. raunchy than WoT and a lot more action-packed and fast-paced. Conan's love-life makes Rand's seem utterly dull; one of his many many women falls in love with him and decides that because of it, she has to kill him. It's certainly entertaining. Conan is great character, rough around the edges but still a "good guy." They're fun.
