After meeting the one kid, Odijo was back on his track to find Bari. Still in his mane were those purple flowers. He hoped the Bari would like then, but he also hoped that she would be at her the small pool. After all, he didn’t know where else he could meet her, as he didn’t know where her den was located. He would find out soon though.

He trotted along happily, making sure his steps were balance enough to not cause the flowers to topple to the ground. This flowers wouldn’t be pretty then if they were covered in dirt.

Lucky for Odijo, Bari was at her small pool. After she had decorated her grandmother's sanctuary, and after last night's big storm in which she had met a horrifyingly scarred lion, she was back and cleaning up the area as best she could. The winds had been strong in this area, and though the rain had made sure to have her little pool filled to a decent level, many other pretty things she had found had been ruined or tossed haphazardly around.

But the one small flower she had kept for herself out of the ones that she had picked from Odijo's garden before, and had tucked it behind her ear, was still there as she cleaned.

As Odijo neared the pool, the ground he walked on seemed softer, mucky to say the least. His cerulean eyes peered towards the underbrush in which the small pool was by, before moving there. Luckily, there was Bari …cleaning up the area? Had it been that windy last night? He didn’t seem to notice if it was, as his den blocked anything come in from the east, west and south.

“Hey Bari!” he called out, walking towards her. He looked around. “Was there…a bad storm last night?” He felt like an idiot asking, but he was curious. He must’ve been really tired, or maybe the storm hadn’t hit the area he lived in? All was a possibility.

She turned around at the voice and instantly, her face lit up with happiness at seeing Odijo again. "Odijo!" she replied, walking over to him. "Yeah, there was a pretty tough storm last night. It came in a bit after I finished decorating my grandmother's place with those pretty flowers." And then, when she had returned just an hour ago, all those flowers were strewn across it. Now her grandmother's place looked a lot better than what it had been before.

"But it's alright, I'm just about done cleaning up here. it could have been worse, after all." She grinned at him

“I must’ve been pretty tired yesterday, I don’t remember anything. Either that, or my den is just very well insulated in which nothing can penetrate it.” He joked, but then frowned. He hoped the flowers weren’t ruined from the storm. “Is everything okay at your grandmother’s place?” He asked, making sure that her family was okay with in the storm as well.

But at her next words, he knew that they were find. He looked around, moving to pick up some fallen debris around the pool. He couldn’t help much, as it seemed to be getting pretty clean, but he might as well help where he could. After he moved the debris, he turned back towards her. “Then thankfully this was all that happened. I would not want to see a worse event.”

He reached a paw for his head. “Here,” he pulled out a small purple flower from his mane. “I picked this for you this morning.” He took the flower, placing it just near the other behind her ear.

She laughed. "Yes, you probably can sleep through anything," she teased. For some reason he seemed like the type that when he was out, he was out. A pack of roaring lions couldn't wake him up. It would be fun to test that theory, actually.

"Oh, thank you," she said as he helped to pick up a little. Bari was thankful that she had had enough time to clean most of it before he came over. If it had been the complete disaster and he had showed up...oh, she would have been so embarrassed. "No, of course. I'm lucky that it wasn't so bad in the first place. I wish there was a better, more stable shelter or something. Storms seem to come and go so often and the strength varies so much..." Since she had become lost in the winds and in the dark last night, it hadn't been on the lioness' priority list to realize just how scary it is when you're alone like that. Even with the help of the other lion.

She smiled and managed to catch a glimpse of the pretty, fresh purple flower before he tucked it behind her ear with the other one. "Thank you," she murmured happily.

“Any little bit helps, right? I’m sorry I wasn’t here earlier to help.” He nudged her a little bit. “You should have come over, I would have came to help!” He didn’t mind that the swimming hole was messy. If it was going to be ‘their’ secret spot, then he should help when it came to picking it up after natural disasters. He looked up towards the small opening in the trees. Hmm, there would not be a way to create a shelter, unless there were a lot of will power (or lions in general). If they wanted to risk losing the spot, they could ask for help to build a shelter, otherwise, it would have to be put on hold. “I’m sure we can try to construct something, but it is always seems like a rarity to get a really heavy sized storm, unless it’s a long dry season…”

“You’re welcome. I guess it’s a good gift after last night, huh?” He smiled, giving her a small nuzzle.

"Yes, thank you," she said again, finding that she couldn't help but thank him right now. He was doing so many sweet things for her as of late. "That's very true. I guess since the really big storms are so rare, it wouldn't exactly be worth it to build something up like that." She laughed. Although, by the looks of it, it wouldn't necessarily be too hard to build up a little den right next to the rocks of their little pool. Perhaps it would take some muscle to get the rocks moving in the first place, and to even maneuver them around the mud puddles the swamp was known for. But it would be worth it. She kept thinking about it, tossing up ideas and debating among them in her mind.

Bari's smile widened and she happily nuzzled him back. "Any gift from you is a good gift."

“Maybe within the next few moons, we can get a small shelter. It’ll be like a little pool den, in where after we swim, it’ll be a nice resting place after a swim. Oh, we can make a little sun roof to let the sun in to have small cat naps…” he said jokingly, drifting off slightly. Ideas, ideas. One day it would come together, but not now especially with everything that seemed to be going on in the pride, with the Asali’jua passing on, and the goddess disappearing.

He turned his attention to the female again. “Where do you think the goddess went? I mean, it’s a little strange she disappeared right as Asali’jua passed, isn’t it?”

Bari laughed and nodded. "But you know, it'll have to be pretty big. As nice as a sun roof would be it won't be so great if it starts raining, so if we're going to let that be open, then we need to have it off to the side, away from our little main area so we don't get drenched when it starts to pour. Silly," she teased him. But she couldn't help but add on and continue to imagine. He was talking about a shelter, of course, but it sounded more like a den to her. One that they would share. Oh well, she wouldn't think more of it. Time would tell if he wanted anything more like that with her anyway.

"Maybe she was sad that Asali'jua passed," Bari thought aloud. "I know that if I was a goddess, and one of my faithful followers died, I would be sad about it. So maybe she's taking some time to herself for mourning."

“We can make the sun roof near the opening, and if it does start to rain, make a netting of leaves to block the rain from coming in.” He nodded profusely at this as if it was the best idea in the world.

He could not help but frown at her words. “Maybe… I guess that could be it.” Odijo had never really known Asali well, nor the goddess, but he felt that since he was apart of the pride, then it was like his family, right? “It just seems a little strange, you know? I don’t know…” Why did he have to have these thoughts come to mind now? Strange how things worked out, wasn’t it.

His thoughts turned now. “You know, I’m not always going to find you here. Where is your den located, so if I go looking for you, I know a place you might be at?” He chuckled.

"Ah, that's a better idea. I like getting rained on, but it's a bit ironic to build a shelter to stay out of the rain, and yet, it comes in through a hole in the roof." She nodded approvingly at his idea of a nest of leaves as a small covering.

Bari's nod turned into a slow, saddened one. Asali's passing had truly affected the entire pride, of course. The death of their queen had been a huge, surprising event. "Maybe it was even because of Asali's ranking in the pride? Being Queen, she had to have had more of a connection with the goddess than myself, and the other low-ranking members of the pride." She wasn't saying, of course, that this was a bad thing. Just another factor to perhaps think about.

She giggled. "That's right! I was going to show you my den last time. It's over this way." And she gave him a quick, small nuzzle before turning and leading him away from their little secret pool.

Odijo nodded. That too was a plausible idea. Seeing as the former queen was just that – a queen, then there had to be some sort of connection between her and the deity. It seemed that the higher ranked lions in most prides had that kind of connection anyways.

“Lead the way!” he gave a small purr at her nuzzle. Walking towards her den, he watched the paths taken. He had been down here once before when going towards the heart of the pride with the little male who he had met the first day he set foot into the pride. He hadn’t actually seen the dens around the area, just more so taken the same steps that he and Bari were walking now.

“Now I won’t be looking in blind spots to try and find you!”

When they had first arrived to the swamplands, Bari's immediate family hadn't been too keen on splitting up so very quickly. So, as a result, the group of lions had managed to find a good number of dens next or near enough to each other. One, so the parents could keep an eye on their children, and two, so that everyone could watch and be helpful to their grandmother. Bari didn't mind. So she and Muhali, her brother of the same age, were given the two dens that were farthest away from the other three. Since they were adults, after all, but still part of the family.

Hers was closer to her parents than Duma's, like her other brother's, and this is where she led Odijo to. "It's not much, and kind of small, but it's home. I'd rather have this than sharing a den with everyone else again," she joked.

“Small dens are nice when you’re the only one living in it.” He grimaced as she mentioned about living in a den with all other family. He didn’t mind that, however to think of two adults, then however many cubs that’ll eventually grow up and have their own cubs, or the first two adults having another litter, just seemed to get a little crowded in his opinion.

He peered into the den she had pointed out. “When it’s a home, it’s always good. There’s nothing like a den that is just a den.”
PostPosted: Sun Jun 14, 2009 1:55 pm

That's the problem with family dens, of course. Because it's just not one lion living there. It's a whole family. She nodded and grinned at him. "True. Although it'll be nice when our shelter by the pool will be a good bit bigger, since it will have to be large enough for the two of us at least in there."

Again, not being called a den. Just a shelter.

"Here, go inside and see if you fit," she giggled, nudging him. For her, it was a comfy fit, but since he was so much bigger, she wasn't sure if he could fit or not. Just for giggles.

He watched her. Shelter…right. He thought for a moment, “Of course. We can’t have a home that is your den size, and my den size. That just wouldn’t work now, would it.” He let the word ‘home’ slip when speaking, not realizing it.

Taking a step towards it, he shook his head. “If I went in, I don’t think I’ll be able to get out. You’d be admiring my bum all day because I’d be stuck.”
PostPosted: Sun Jun 14, 2009 2:17 pm

She laughed. "No? That's a good thing, I guess, then. Especially if someone came out and saw your bum sticking out. I don't think that would be a good thing for them to see." Nope, not at all. Bari could only imagine what her mother and grandmother would say to her...Muhali would tease her, Duma wouldn't know what to do, and her father...

But she couldn't help the soft smile at 'home' when it slipped out.

“We wouldn’t want that to happen now, do we?” He chuckled.

Why was it whenever he was with Bari time just flew by. It was as if she was a time machine that made the day go right into night. Granted, it wasn’t twilight, but he could feel the sun seeping beneath the trees, and therefore meant the moon would soon rise up in the sky. “Since I know where you are now, count on me stopping by more!” He purred, giving Bari a nuzzle before heading back towards the direction they came from. “Until we meet again,” quietly, he murmured (she could probably hear him if she tried), “which will probably be tomorrow.”
