Majivu had awoken with a start. There were birds chirping in the trees just near the den, allowing his to know that the sun come up and the day had started. He looked around. None of his siblings were there, and neither of his parents. Had they gone hunting? Did they leave him because he was sleeping? Man, that would mean he would have to go find them!

Getting up, he hurried out of the den, shaking the dirt of his gray pelt. His light blue eyes scanned the area. Where would they have gone? He took a step towards the left, sniffing the air before heading in that direction. He would find them, sooner of later.

He was on his way to the small swimming hole. He hoped Bari would be there. He had a gift for her. After she had left the night before, Odijo thought to himself about giving her something. She already wore little vines that wrapped around body, why not add something to it? In his mane (for the time being) were the small purple flowers in which sprouted near his den. These were for the female, as she seemed to love them so much. A smile was brought to his maw, he knew she would like them. She seemed to excited when seeing them at first.

Maji wasn’t watching wear he was going. His eyes were concentrated to the right, watching for any movements from a family member to be there. It was no surprise when he crashed right into adult. “Sorry!” he exclaimed, his light eyes peering right at the other male. “Sorry, I didn’t know where I was going…I mean, I know where I was going I just wasn’t watching where I was going.” Maji looked down. He should just stop talking now.

“I’m Majivu. Have you seen a female who looks like me, but is your size maybe? Or other kids that look like me?”

“Oof,” Odijo managed to get out as the small body crashed into him. At his insistent apologies, the older male had to hold up a paw to stop the other from talking. After he did that, it seemed to have helped him slightly. “I would keep your eyes peeled next time, when you are on your naming quest, you don’t want to run into strange lions. They might not be as nice,” he spoke solidly.

“Majivu.” He repeated. He heard that name before when traveling before he had made a home in these lands. “It suits you for now.” By that, he meant the meaning. On a previous conversation with another with a similar name, he learned it meant ‘gray in color’. Seeing as Majivu was a gray lion, it was only fitting.

“I’m Odijo, and no, I can't say I have seen other kids like you, nor another that looks similiar to you..”

“Aw… Well, it’s nice to meet you anyways Odijo. If you see something like I said, can you tell them I am looking for them?” Majivu was about to run off, to continue to search, but he stopped. His mother or father never told him about the naming quest. Maybe Odijo could tell him, after all, he was the one who brought it up?

“What’s the naming quest like?” Majivu asked, glancing at the older male. “Is it hard?”

“I will do,” Odijo said, about to be on his way as the younger lion began to trot off. However, when he started talking again, the brown male focused his attention back to him. “I haven’t been on a naming quest, actually.” Odijo stated, kneading the ground for a moment. “I have just recently joined the ranks of the pride, and therefore was not required to take a quest that you will when you are just a little older. My friend however, has taken it. She speaks of how it was a long journey to find yourself. It’s a chance to know who you are, and therefore give you a name that’ll suit your personality,” he smiled, trying to explain the quest as best he could. He knew he wasn’t exact, as he didn’t know much more about it. “Ask your parents, I am sure they know more about it then I do.” Odijo stated.

“Oh…Well, I am sure I’ll find more about it soon. I’ll ask my mom when I find her. She was born in the pride…I think. She went on the quest.” Another question formed in his mind as he glanced around Odijo. Squinting his eyes, a picture seemed to form on the tree. There was his sister, Soali, playing near the old dead tree in the opposite direction. He looked at Odijo for a moment, before glancing back at that tree. The picture was gone.

Majivu blinked but thought nothing of it. “Why is there a purple…flower in your hair?” He asked, not looking at the male but the tree where he saw his sister playing. Should he check there next?

Odijo watched as the male’s sight drifted off him and to the trees behind. His gaze wandered that way, flickering his eyes from the juve to the trees. What was he staring at?

The male didn’t question anything, but waited for the other to speak. If a lion could blush, his cheeks would be turning a slight shade of pink just about now. “I-uh… well, it’s for my friend. She said she liked these flowers, so I decided to get them for her. I am actually heading there right now.

“Oh…I better get going so you can get back to your friend! I’m sorry about crashing into you!” Majivu took off in the opposite direction, looking over his shoulder at the fleeting form of Odijo, and back to that tree. That was weird. It was as if the trees were telling him where his family was, but that wasn’t possible…was it? He thought for a moment, racing towards the old tree. There was only one way to find out.
