A uniformed assistant in the arena walked into the center of the very large structure. The amount of people to see this amazing battle roared and cheered. He held the skull-shaped trinket in his hands. He shuttered to think of what was about to happen. When he was in the exact center of the arena, he placed the trinket on the ground and rotated it 90 degrees. Within seconds, the ground pounded with the heartbeat of the very spirit of Gaia. Around the trinket, seven swirling black clouds appeared. The assistant ran out as fast as he could. The seven swirls solidified into seven iron-clad lizard-men. They stood with their shields and swords, ready for battle. Then, an image of a gold dragon appeared in the middle of them. It roared, " Defeat my seven minions, then defeat me. You will prove your valor." ____________________________ -= OOC =- Enter the Arena from any entrance. The maximum number of combatants is Seven. I will run the dragon and the minions. Oh... one rule.... NO OVER-POWERFUL MAGIC. This is a test of sword skill and fighting prowness. Prove your strength, not your power. There's some people that, I know, could just sneeze and kill all these things... I don't want to name any names... *cough*TAC AND JANS*cough*... give the weaker folk a chance, boys... think of the children.... crying

(( Blah! Hopefully I'll actually have some time this weekend... despite like... not. For several reasons... xp
So... um... I dunno! *Tries to get involved in the guild and enjoy himself a bit...* ))
"F'shaw~..." a boy thumbed the underside of his nose as he walked in; twisting his head almost completely around and stepping in circles as he walked, just so he could take in all the scenery around him. He was young, couldn't have been older than seventeen, but from the bounce in his step and the container slung over his left shoulder, it seemed like he had much the same reason as everyone else for being here.
The boy was wearing the oddest garb; a purple buttondown shirt over a pink shirt underneath, a pair of black slacks in tatters by the heels and more than a bit scraped up on the knees, and his hands were wrapped in rolls of bandage, about halfway to the elbow. Himself, and his stature, were far from the most imposing things; the boy standing an inch or so below average height, and having a build similar to what you'd expect from the captain of your highschool's track team. However, he had a very intense atmosphere about him; from the top of his mussed head to the toe of his soiled shoes, the boy just exhibited 'over the top' from every pore in his body.
As for the object he was carrying... well, it was something you'd never expect to see in a coliseum unless the next match was showcasing Casey Jones. The boy had, slung over his shoulder, a turquoise golf bag; though instead of golf clubs in it, he had several different types of melee weapons, ranging from different sizes of swords, to a staff, and even just a baseball bat. However, every single weapon carried, save for one, was made of wood.
"So, like... what's valor mean?" he asked, scratching his head as he shuffled side to side, tapping his feet on the ground.

The lizard men turned and heard the boy, curious. Laughter soon followed their curiosity.
The image of the dragon looked at the boy and said, "Ah, we have ourselves one challenger?" He laughed and the reptiles laughed as well. The lizard-men began to clang their shields and swords together in a pattern.
Bang. Bang. Bang
It formed a symphony of evil, just waiting for the crescendo.
((tmj, good to see you joined! I hope you enjoy yourself. :nods smile )

"'snot an answer, man..." the boy said, now turning to the side as he continued scratching it... apparently having an itch that just wouldn't go away. "Don' be rude wit it, yo. I jus wanna know what dis valor thing 'sall about."
He looked around at the lot of them, looking a little bit more interested than before in the others... or maybe having just noticed them for the first time, since, from the start, he had been simply staring at the dragon with mild interest. With another mess of unintelligable, slurred muttering, he smiled and took a few more steps forwards and then unshouldered the bag; letting it drop with an unceremonious thump to the ground before toppling over.
(( I hope so, too. Though with how busy I've been I doubt I'll even have a chance to do much. xp ))

The lizard-men continued their evil percussion. The clanging kept a beat, and the dragon's image seemed to grow larger.
The serpent of gold let out a deep-throated laugh, "Valor is courage in the face fo danger. By walking in here and readying yourself for battle, you have already shown you have valor. But have you valor enough to fight me? Defeat the least of these and you will have shown at least that much."
The beating stopped. The crowd quieted. For a moment all life seemed to stand still. Then, with a sound similar to a trumpet, the ghostly image of the dragon roared, "Attack, young man, and let your courage be shown to all in this arena!"
((Anyone can feel free to jump in, please. More fun for all, I suppose.))

"The least of 'em, eh? If'n you want... shiny snake thing. biggrin "
The boy smiled and shook his head, reaching down and grasping onto one of the poles that was projecting out from the top of his bag and pulling it out; ending up with a 6' quarterstaff in hand, which seemed like quite an off-choice for the boy, especially considering he didn't quite reach the 6' mark, himself.
Taking a step away from the bag, the boy spun the quarterstaff once in hand, then grasped it with both hands a ways down the shaft, as if he were holding a spear and not a staff. He looked towards the group of lizard men, then shook his head again. He wouldn't be able to give them all the attention that each deserved, because there were so many, but at least, maybe, he'd be able to do just what he was supposed to...
And so, planting one foot firmly on the ground, the boy shouted the traditional, eccentric battlecry of 'spoon' and then charged valiently and, very likely, foolishly into the fray; doing his best to watch the reactions of the entire group.
(( To school! Anon! ))

((As such, this is the kind of thing for me, not grappeling with those with such power of gods. ))
A broad sword slung across his back, the handle over his right sholder, a man in his mid-twenties steps through a gate to the right of the one the kid entered from, his hair ruffled from waking up not to long ago. His shirt being a plane black one. Wearing regular jeans and steel toed boots he makes soft dents in the grass where he walks. Glancing up at the image of the dragon, then down to the four men surrounding the image and finally to the stands. Walking foward with a rather blank look in his face, the man unsheaths the sword and turns to see if he can catch the eye of his, coaprative member against this, challenge. Keeping the enemy in his perhipial vision, he holds the sword in his right hand, letting the tip of the blade rest on the ground. "This should be intersting."

The dragon laughed, amused at the boy's odd behavior. Then his gaze shifted over to the newcomer. It appeared the boy would have help.
"Interesting indeed," The dragon said quietly. The lizard-men then moved around and faced the two, having been in a circular pattern before hand. They now stood parallel to the gate.
Meanwhile, the reptilian warriors readied their shields for the charge of the boy. The lizard-man directly in the boy's charging path took a step forward, readying his iron sword to slice the staff. They would allow just one to fight one at a time. Noble, for such mindless beasts.
As such, a second iron-clad lizard-man stood and seemed to beckon the new-coming swordsman into battle.
The crowd cheered and roared, glad to finally see some action. Some began throwing gold coins onto the ground below. The shower of gold seemed like forshadowing for the gold dragon's coming. If all seven lizard-men fell, the warriors owuld have their chance.

(If was was to have a sword with some fairly basic enchant's built into it, would that be alright for this, or is it just straight up non-magic melee?)
((Oh, that would be perfectly acceptable.. but people coming in weilding the elements on their fingertips is strictly forbidden.))

(( I liked the one where the Tick crashed a spaceship in the armpit of Galactor the Planet Devourer... or whatever his name was. Earthworm Jim was a cool show, too... )) Bolt "Interesting indeed," The dragon said quietly. The boy watched as the circle of lizardmen broke up; lining up, instead, in formation facing the entrances that he had emerged from (the boy knew nothing of the other man who had entered, having been too intent on watching the lizardmen's movements to look back over his shoulder). Two of them stepped forwards, issuing challenge. That left five more who hadn't. ' Well... shoot. Guess I'll have to do it the hard way.' he thought as he slammed his heel into the ground and skidded to a near stop far before he even reached the lizardman who had stepped forwards. Instead, he turned quickly and began charging for the one at the end of the line, on his left... The dragon had said to defeat the least of his warriors, after all... to the boy, either of the two who had stepped forwards to fight him couldn't be the least of these. So he decided to go for the one who was hiding behind his shield at the far end of the line, furthest away from him. This boy didn't really have much of a grasp on the concept of subtlety. "Spo-... er... SPORK! scream " he reitterated as he charged enthusiastically, holding the staff at his left side with his left hand grasping an inch from the end, and his right holding it much closer to the middle. A young teen walked through a gate, he didn't know which gate it was. He didn't really care about remembering things like that. He had bright yellow eyes that had an animalistic quality to them. His hair was silver and cut short. He was of an average height and weight. The teen, Takachiro had a well-toned body. He was built like a tennis player.
He glanced around and saw the lizardmen and a few other people. So he had to face a bunch of lizards while helping other people who wanted to challenge them. This should prove interesting, for Takachiro rarely fought in team battles. His grin grew wide and the sunlight reflected off of his teeth.
" Yo,"
People probably realizied that he had enter already but he was accustomed to telling people he had enter. He walked closer to the lizards, carrying his self-customed sword. It was a steell ring with blades at different ends. He held it in his right hand and could wield it like a two-hander. The outside of ring was colored black with a gold picture of a japanese war god on the rim. In a holster on his left thigh was a regular pistol loaded with silver bullets.
He wore very loose clothes that wouldn't limit his movement. He wore a black jumpsuit with a picture of an eye on the back. On his feet he wore black boots with steel soles. His eyes were covered by glasses with purple lens. On both hands were gaunlets with retaractable claws. Takachiro had brought al his weapons except his giant anchor. He didn't bring this because it would've slowed him down greatly. He glanced around noticing alot of other things could be used as waepons within the room. He didn't give his name for good reasons. He had heard of those who could control you if you told them your names. Takachiro wanted to be able to do what he wanted.
