For all you skeptics, teetering on the edge of belief and for all you who think we are all insane, let me briefly explain what a vampire is: A vampire, under our modern definition, is a human being who for some unknown reason, needs the life energies of another human to live unhindered by a bothersome and somewhat crippling need. There are many kinds of us; there are those who need a form of psychic or emotional energies, and those who need to feed from blood. Also, there are those who are able to do both.

Now, I'll answer some of the more frequent questions I receive when I inform folks of my vampirism. We do not have super powers; no super speed, flying, ridiculous strength, or immortality. Some of us, however, are psychically gifted, and quite a many of us have better senses than the average Homo Sapiens. We aren't all stunningly seductive and beautiful, though I don't doubt that some of us are. We do not burst into flame or sparkle in the sunlight. Many find it quite bothersome, and many enjoy the horribly warm and bright rays (you can probably guess my stance on it) it emits. We do not all sleep in coffins, though some of us claim to for a laugh and there are some who really do; the somewhat (in)famous Don Henrie, for example. We DO NOT MURDER PEOPLE; we ask them nicely, and only ask for what we need, which is usually a small donation.

To sum it all up, the vampries of today are not the monsters or heroes of folklore and fiction. We are for the most part just like the average human, but with a few tweaks. And, of course, the whole needing of energies thing, but thats not really a big deal, is it?

Thanks for posting this. I'm well versed on the vamp community so I don't really have any questions, though I suggest to anyone who does that they check out sanguinarius.org.

Yeah, Sanguinarius.org and the VCMB are huge sources of info. They helped me realize what I am, and helped a lot with my awakening.

Quite personally, I don't.

Unfortunatly I don't find a never ending hunger for energy/blood and possably dieing from lack of it, appealing.

Sometimes, it's more of a curse then a gift. And people do not realize that, which really erks me.

It's like glorifying diabetes.

I need insulin, almost like vampires need energy/blood.

Yeah, I get to eat all the tasty food I want and get out of class all the time, All I have to say is my sugar is low. Right? Hell, and if I ever get hurt, I'll be the first one in the ambulance before any one else.

But I can die with out the insulin and have to take lantus at night just so my body can work normally. I fear dieing in my sleep because I've taken too much for what I ate or going into a diabetic coma because I forgot to take any insulin at all.

Much like this, being a vampire has it's perks and fall outs. I think you should count your blessings before wishing a responsablilty like this upon yourself or anyone.

I like how you compared it to diabetes. It is similar, and a lot of people who have the real condition that is commonly called 'vampyrism' but not in the mythical/immortal sense, don't view it as a gift, but rather a hindrance

Thank you, Extravagantly Yours. 3nodding

I was half afraid someone would see that as a insult, or bash it.

There is absolutely nothing glamorous or cool about almost passing out simply from not having enough energy off people.

You could eat a full meal, sleep 8 hours, and have a completely clean bill of health. Then you shield yourself to stop all your friends from being sleepy around you. Then you forget to reach out and feed.

Then suddenly, you just feel like sleeping. Out of nowhere. Dead tired, knocked to almost unconsciousness.

There is nothing cool about that.

There is nothing cool about taking off that shield and being so ravenous your lover almost passes out in return. There is nothing awesome about needing to be around something with energy or you can't get s**t done.
