Reasons for the name(s):: ((OOC::Because I love the name Serenity Marie.)) IC::Serenity was given her name by her mother. Her mother's name is Sera, now, her grandmothers name was Serenity. Sera grew fond of the bond that she and her mother had, so naming Serenity after her grandmother just seemed like the right thing to do. Sadly, Serenity's grandmother died in the massacres. Marie was actually Serenity's fathers, mother's name. Although Sera and Laabil's mother never gained full appreciation for each other, though Sera promised her that she would name the daughter after her in some form. Marie was also killed in the massacres.

Apparent Age/Approximate Age:: Appears about early/mid twenties. Was born about thirty years after the massacres occurred.

If a Daewl, what is his/her one power?:: ((Extended Powers given permission by Moofuls)) Growth: She can help the growth of plants and other minor organisms within reason. She uses this power to help her with her family's farming industry.
Skin Tone/Apparent Race:: Serenity, by nature, is a fair skinned person like any other Afya, though, her actual skin tone is of a darker tan. She tans well, especially since she practically lives in the sun, and even Jivvins get tan, right?
Height:: About 5'3"
Weight/Body Build:: 115lbs, she is quite fit and quite skinny. She doesn't work out, but her constant need to be running about outdoors does help in some cases.
Hair:: She has shiny, very dark brown hair, often confused with black, with the Hopi hairstyle. Another example of the Hopi hairstyle. The reason behind the style is because Serenity is quite influenced by art and literature, plus she likes to keep her hair out of her eyes, yet still look elegant. She had developed this hairstyle after much work at trying to keep everything in order, and yet still appeal to her clients when they needed something.
Eyes:: Her eyes, are a crystal lake type of blue. Here is what I picture her eyes to be. Her darker skin and bright blue eyes should compliment each other greatly.
Ear colours/markings:: Her ears are a very dark shade of emerald green, with almost shining golden rings around each ear. One on each.
Tail colours/markings:: Her tail is exactly as the ears are, except for the fact that the golden circlets are more of golden, vine-like swirls.
Peculiar Physical Traits:: Her hair and eyes are peculiar traits that help her to stand out in a crowd.
Distinguishing Marks:: On her skin, she has that dark emerald green swirl tattoos running up her arm. Much like these. The reason for this, is because of her love of the vines and growth. So, she was given them at her Llar form.
Health:: Serenity's overall health is in good condition, giving her much to be joyful about.
Senses:: Of course, you have to go into those...well, her blue eyes almost suggest that she could be blind, which, in fact, she is minimally. She can see alright out of her eyes, yet, she'd rather be able to smell the different flowers she can create, or the different food she can grow. She also has keen hearing, due to being semi-blind, that strengthens it.
Voice:: I would say she has the voice of a siren. Very enticing and enchanting. Her singing would sway even the hardest of hearts.
Mannerisms:: Serenity is quite well mannered in public, but she is quite shy when meeting someone or when being forced into a group. She would rather be alone than in a group in the first place. She believes that groups cause distractions, and that is her reasoning for being shy. Yet, if she is meeting people, which she actually does on a constant basis, being a floral worker and all, she is kind, and nice about things, answering questions, etc. She is pretty much socially awkward to say the least. Meeting new people is fine, but having to make friends is a different story. Now, her major flaw is her temper. Most of the time, she is quite sweet and kind, thus making her an Afya, unless her temper gets the best of her. Annoy her too much, and she will blow. She does have a somewhat high level of tolerance for annoyance, but that is just her pet peeve. She hates when she gets angry, because than she could lash out at people she knows had nothing to do with anything, which is a problem with her already in a social situation. Also, as stated, Serenity is shy and hates to stand out, yet she obviously does with her "over-the-top" hairstyle and her wrapped dress cause her to. These are not worn as an attention getter, but rather, for her love of art and needing to be herself and her own person, no matter what others think of her.
Clothes/shoes/accessories:: Her clothing styles resemble that of the Chinese/Japanese culture, yet of course, Jivvin's have no idea of the outside world. She loves art, which was taught to her in her classes at her younger stages, and that has influenced her need to look as elegant as possible to impress her clients. Many ruffles within the short sleeved kimono-like dress which she created herself out of many different materials, flow down to her ankles, with a regular sandal for the shoe. The dresses are often white and have variations of pale colors incorporated within them. Plus, she always carries a bouquet of various flowers with her, which seems to be part of her attire most of the time, whether she means for them too or not. She also wears natural flowers in her hair, that she grows herself. These flowers also add to the color, and often compliment her choice of dress. (( For the actual artwork, I would prefer her to be wearing a pale green wrap dress, Like this, only pale green with like, some sort of floral pattern on it. The wrap portion of the dress I would like to see as plain white. Also, with the addition of some sort of green rose hybrid in her hair. Green Rose. She somewhat has created hybrids and loves mixing up the growth cycle of different flowers and plants, creating hybrids, this is just a minor habit or interest of hers.
Eating habits/mannerisms/tastes:: This is one of the more, odd questions to say the least. Serenity really enjoys the fruits portion of the pyramid. She would eat apples, oranges, bananas, anything with a fruity taste. She enjoys eating with utensils, I mean, she'd be a bit of a beast if she didn't, and she is a well mannered girl, meaning that she doesn't just go off and burp while at the table, she holds it back as much as possible. Her mother taught her right.

Significant Other/Relationship:: None.
Who does he/she live with?:: She lives with her mother.
Who does he/she spend the most time with?:: Probably her mother, or if plants count, than them.
Father/Relationship with him/Rank/Current Status:: Laabil / Since he was killed before the birth of Serenity, she has no knowledge of him. His death came as a surprise to all in the village. No one truly knows why, but he somehow disappeared and after searching, with no evidence, was declared dead. / Daewl / Dead.
Mother/Relationship with her/Rank/Current Status:: Sera / These two get along for the sake of getting along. Her mother does wish that Serenity would give in a bit more work indoors, instead of outdoors, yet these two are fairly close to one another, they don't talk as often as you might think. Serenity is constantly outdoors, while her mother runs the inside of the shop. Most things are said at meal times, that's about it. Though their relationship is rocky, the two seem to get along well enough to run the shop together. But over all, Serenity really enjoys her freedom and ability to work outside alone. / Afya / Working with Serenity at the Garden and Floral on the edge of the Village.
Siblings/Ranks/Current Status:: None.
Best Friend/Rank/Current Status:: Her mother? She honestly doesn't have many best friends. She has her mother, and her plants. If I were to say she had a best friend, her name would be Aminah / Uuthil / She visits the store every once and a while. Serenity considers her a true friend, although Aminah does only come by when picking up foods for her family. The main reason Serenity considers her the "best friend" is because Aminah is one of the only customers that actually talk to her, and tried to befriend her, although Aminah doesn't think of Serenity the same way.
Feelings toward animals:: She adores animals. They're "natures blessing to us" as she calls them.
How does he/she view his/her family?:: She loves her mother, even when the two don't see eye to eye all the time.
How does he/she view his/her friends?:: She has few, but she over exaggerates their friendship. She is far too trusting towards other Jivvins, this causes her to create friendships in her mind, even if other characters feel that she doesn't meet up to their standards as a "friend". Through her shyness, that counteracts some of the friendship making, but she is just quiet mostly, nothing extreme. She doesn't really know how to present herself to make her feel more outgoing.
How does his/her family view him/her?:: Her mother adores her. She has always adored her. She just feels that Serenity doesn't apply herself as much as she'd like. Serenity's habits of being outside have interfered with the relationship the two have. They don't talk as much, unless it's about the shop, and Sera just doesn't seem like a big part of Serenity's life anymore because of that love for nature and the outdoors that Serenity has.
How does his/her friends view them?:: This depends. Most people find her too reserved, shy, and quiet to be an actual employee at the shop, that's why her mother works the inside, while Serenity works the outside. Though, others find her sweet and charming. Just depends on the character that meets her.
Who is his/her hero?:: I would say...Serenity's hero...is her mother. The two have done so much together, that she just looks up to her mother in so many ways. She wants to be there for her mother whenever she is needed. But at the same time, Serenity loves the fact that she has freedom, and she is able to do whatever she wants.

~ Her mother's name was Sera, which is a nickname of serenity? Or her grandmother's name was serenity? I think it's the wording that's confusing me there, that's all

~ Born 30 years after the massacres doesn't give her much time to have grandparents...

~ 5'8" is on the tall side for jivvin women... it's not gigantic by any means, I just want to make sure that you're aware of this.

~ Now, don't get me wrong, I like her hairstyle, but you have to admit to the absolute ridiculousness of it in a western european society (since the jivvins race is european based)... I don't see any reason why she can't have that hair if you can explain why she has it.

~ In peculiar physical traits, you should probably include her crazy hair and wierd eyes (not that her eyes are wierd, but you have to admit that it's unusual for darker skinned people to have light eyes)

~ Where did the skin tatoos come from? Are they markings included in her Llar form?

~ Okay XD I'm gonna be picky. Light eyes wouldn't make me think 'blind'. It would make me think that sunlight would make her cringe more, since the light bouncing around in her eyes would be absorbed more slowly than in a darker set... I'd like to know more about her eyes if it's important, and if it's not important than I'd like to know less really... does that make sense? I'm not picking on you here personally, but I'm getting tired of seeing characters with unusual eyes for no reason other than 'it makes them cool'. give me reason?

~ You've got a LOT of cultures hodgepodged here, with her swedish eyes, native american skin and eyes, asian clothing and accessories... I'm not sure that you wouldn't be better narrowing this all out a little? Also, to pick on her clothing a little, like Wegs says, it's a little outlandish for the village ability... unless she grew the flowers herself it's probably not too likely that someone outside the artistry industry would have access to something that ornate. Maybe you should include an interest in art and fashion in her profile? That could go a VERY long way towards explaining her choice of clothing, hairstyle and accessories. Of course then she'd have to be a little more outgoing in order to be willing to stand out so much..... .... though you've already got her wearing these things without the predisposition of surpassing her shyness. I guess that's what I want to see looked at XD .... ... Her outlandish and ornate choice of clothing in a European society, with her shyness as a factor. Most shy people I know don't walk around is hopi hair with ruffles on thier clothing.

~ I want more detail into her rank views. How does she feel about other Daewls? Dawels typically don't enjoy the company of Afyas, how does she feel about Afyas, since she seems to follow thier beliefs rather closely... How does she feel about the Vhaid himself? I have a problem with her wanting ranks banished.... Ranks are genetic and any jivvin can identify another's rank just by talking to them for a moment, and in most cases they just have to see the other to know. Banishing ranks would be as difficult as banishing ethnicities and I think it wouldn't even be possible in any jivvin's mind... though I think I understand what you're trying to say, that she wants more equality regardless of the fact that afyas are typically weaker personalities and Olpyln's personalities more quietly abusive. That's a valid wish, I just don't think it's worded right.

~ Devotion is a good thing. It makes for interesting conflict rps. ^_^

~ She's confident, doesn't care about the way she looks and likes who she is, but she's too shy to meet anyone? That doesn't mesh for me.

Of course Afya don't have powers outside of the healing specturm, but if you wanted you could talk to Moo and see if that minor healing ability extended to plants? All three of her major goals are shared by almost every Afya in the village save for a tiny few (and they've usually got damn good reasons for not wanting world peace)

~ Relationships :: More more more more. Her father is in the village, unless he's dead. She will have run across him many many many times in the hundred's of years since the massacres, and I'd like to know maybe what she thinks of the fact that she knows nothing about him... does she blame her mother for not telling her about him? Did her mother tell her a horror story about her dad that keeps her from even wanting to know him? Doesn't world peace mean that she'd want to make peace with him and know him? Even though she doesn't know anything about him, he has to have a story to have existed. Just go into a little more detail on him so that you'll have a better idea about where she might get some of her more instinctual reactions from. Also, I'll agree with Wegs that she's way too close to her mother for her mother not to have much more description. Also her mother was obviously close to her grandmother in order for her to name her only child after the older woman... and yet there's nothing on the grandmother. I also need more on Aminah. She seems like a pretty important character to yours if she's her ONLY friend.

~ Okay, she's pretty and she's talented, she can sing and hear really really well, she's blind but still happy and well adjusted... kind and nice, wants world peace... She does sound Mary Sueish.... she's a little bland in all this niceness. In all honesty (and I know I've already said it) she's mostly Afya. She does have an Afya mother after all, but to be a geek here, in order to have been born a Dawel with an Afya parent I believe that father would have to have had Daewl parents and her mother would have to have had at least one Daewl parent... she'd be mostly daewl in ancestry and she'd be a fluke in the genetic process *if you know anything about genetics the punnets are on the front page of the center*. You may want to cash in on the fact that she's a genetic fluke and play up her more Daewl characteristics... she needs a temper or something to balance her out... temper, evil streak, love for practical jokes, hatred of bugs, low tollerance for annoying people.... something XD Trust, me, she'll be a lot more fun to play if she's not perfect.

I like her really... she's got deffinite potential... though I think you should apply for her mother as well since they're always in such close quarters.

And can I just note two things here:: ... There may be a lot here between wegs and I, but there wouldn't be anything if you weren't in a place where we could tell what you were after. This is a good app ^_^ and the more I say, the better I was paying attention. wink Also. If you decide to continue this *and I hope you will* I'd really like to see you not change everything Wegs Moo and I say in order to get approved. Think about what we say, make the character fit better into the jivvin world and more into a well rounded woman... but make sure she stays the character that you want in your head... the form and critique process is to help you get to know the character you've created. XD She'll be almost a real person by the time you're finished

Just a quick note, one that may seem nitpicky, but is definitely a part of Jivvin society.

... She actually DOESN'T need a last name, at all. Most Jivvins don't have one, if I'm correct in my thoughts. It's the ones that do have them that need an explanation, as most are carried over from their human bonds.

As in, some very old Jivvins have them, from their bondmates, or sometimes the children of those Jivvins, via tradition. Serenity wouldn't have to take her mother's maiden name. In fact, the term maiden name doesn't even apply in the Village, since most don't marry at all and it would be irrelevant.

I'd also like to say that she does indeed read as an Afya. Are you sure you didn't only choose the Daewl rank for the powers? I don't really think they're necessary to her character. She could just be a gardener. Daewl's powers are balanced by their less positive characteristics, all of which Serenity is lacking.

I like her better as an Afya (of course Afya are my favourites XD so that helps) Not to mention the fact that the name 'Serenity' fits an afya 100 percent better than it does a Daewl. XD ... And she can deffinitely be an afya and have a temper, but now she might be a little too far into daewl for her temperment. XD ... I know I know... we're not helping you meet the happy medium here. Just know that Afyas are the most patient and calmest of ranks. There are the general few that have tempers and have been known to get easily irritated with people (I have one myself) but just don't have her temper 'blow' too often and you should be okay.

Just clarify for me, 'lower than others' in the social rank section. Afya are all pretty low on the status, since they're easily pushed aside and forgotten... is she averagely (made up word) low for an afya or is she low in status even for the rank?

I personally think Afya's are one of the ranks most likely to celebrate one of their own's abilities, not shun them because of it.
