I've been using a Cecilio for a year now. I've heard many reviews about how they're hard to keep in tune, they fall apart on the first day, they sound terrible, etc.

I was always the most in tune during both marching and concert season.
Other than one unneeded piece, its still intact.
I had the best tone quality in my section during concert season.

I don't see the problem with this saxophone >_>

I think that it all depends on the model and some are better than others... so maybe you have a Cecilio sax that is one of the few good ones because i tried one and the reviews were right. I was severely disappointed so i usually stick with brands like Jupiter and Yanagisawa. Glad you like the Cecilio though ^^

I'm not saying that people should avoid Cecilio saxes like the plague (you should really avoid those $50 saxophones that you find at wal-mart with some brand that has never been heard of) different brands work for different people. I think in some of these cases the whole
"there are no small parts, just small actors"
quote applies because someone can really rock on a saxophone that isn't the best.
There just might be a little more maintenance to worry about.
As for cosmetic errors (lacquer, dents etc) I have a Jupiter Artist series that i bought on Ebay for a considerably low price from what they run for new. The pics were a little off, it has a semi-squashed bell, scratched keys and missing some cork. Surprisingly, not leaks. It is a little tarnished and it always has this filmy coating that never goes away no matter how many hours i spend polishing it. I think of it as the ugly duckling. It certainly isn't the prettiest thing to look at, but it sounds great. I think that people should give saxes with cosmetic problems a chance because it's not how it looks but how it sounds. I might post a pic of my sax so keep updated.

my alto sax is the pretty one because i got it new when i started in sixth grade. but i love my tenor more (don't tell my alto that might make him sad)
