Do they hate them? love them? or do they just accept it as your hobby and let you get on with it?
For those of you who do not yet own a doll have you told your friends/family that you have ordered/want one, or are you keeping it a secret?

After the initial 'you spent £££ on a doll?!' My parents are quite indifferent. (of course i've never actually admitted the REAL cost. I don't know many who have ^^; wink
Most of my friends think they are quite cool, a few think they're just creepy. (a couple even want dollies of their own mwahaha XD)
Until I had my first doll in my hands I did keep her a secret and hid her from my parents (I was scared they would go nuts LOL)

They are pretty neutral about it....
At least, when I dont get anything in the mail xP
The moment I receive something they think I completely ruined myself buying it and will "hate" the thing I bought (or not) whatever it is.
My stepdad is a jerk about it though.... while my mom prety much ignores them, he laugh about it and thinks they are children dolls and just laugh everytime he talks about them xP
I never told them how much they cost, I dont try to talk about them period.
My sister is more... open about them though =3
She wants one =D

My Mom knows what I am going to pay for them and really doesn't care.
We aren't rich and I'm not an only child ( the first thing someone ask me when I say this.) but she still thinks that if I want it and I buy it then so what.
But my Mom might be " used to" (for lack of a better way of putting it) seeing really expensive dolls. We have been to shops with dolls that cost 2000-3000 $ before and while we never bought one she knows that they are out there and that people do buy them for their hobby.
I've always been very open with my Mom but I won't be telling my sister or older brother how much my doll cost they would freak. lol

I told my dad about the full price and he really didn't care. He agreed to help me pay as long as I earned the money, I only need half.
He thought it was kind of wasteful at first but then he didn't really object.

Well I don't generally tell them the prices or anything. Or when new stuff arrives. Mom's not too keen on the dollar value or anything. Otherwise she's indifferent.
My sister thinks they're disgusting but a friend or two of her like them (haha!)
And my step dad's just a jerk about them usually.
I keep them to myself though so it's not usually something that comes up.

My parents don't know the actual price but they do understand that they are worth a lot. My mom is pretty cool about them, she even gets them furniture and tries to find them clothes if she can, lol. My dad just looks at them, then looks at me and is like: You're 21 and you STILL play with dolls??? hehe but he doesn't hate them. Just finds it weird ^^; Though he really thinks I could, as he says, turn my vocation into an avocation, or something like that. Basically find a job in the business somehow. Which I suppose I could...if I could speak another language to go over and work at the companies! "'XD

oh gosh...my dad went nuts!~ ok its kinda a long story, but my mom forgot how much the doll is, so she told him $180...and the doll i wanted was 500. and yeah, he was going berserk with that much! and he is all like, "you are 15, and you are into dolls still? are you INSANE?!?!" lol. my mom was like that too at first, but she has mellowed out about it. and she said that if i save all the money at once, then ask him to order(too young for a credit card of my own sad ), he might let me. but yeah...it isn't going to well. sweatdrop

My mom has yet to grasp it as my hobby and compare it to the thousands of dollars my dad spends on his bikes and her drumming.
I think only my little brother a two of my friends knows about the dolls being shipped him right now. Besides that, my mom just thinks I'll be getting a Felix doll (or puki-sized to her) in august.
It's always my mom that makes me so uncomfortable. My dad honestly doesn't care. He doesn't really ask much about them or anything, but he'll take a minute out of his day to pose whomever I left sitting on the couch while I've left the room.
My mom.. A whole 'nother story. She flips. She flipped when I brought home a ResinSoul Song. She flipped with all of them except my first and probably won't with the Felix doll. After that initial meeting though, she'll love them to death. I remember talking with her about possibly me selling one of them and she forbade me from doing it, claiming I was "Breaking apart the family!" Except I had permission to sell the 70cm boy she knows I have since she doesn't "Know him all that well." ><
My friends are really supportive of it, actually. Last night my friend insisted upon seeing all of them as she was sleeping over and I had put them away. Three of my guy friends are constantly bickering over which of them is my Pado's BF.
Besides that.. My mom thinks I own four total.. An SD, a 70 and two MSDs *Cough* >>~

My family really doesn't mind it. Infact, My mom likes to get all into it.
She likes to hear about new dolls I want, and she calls my doll by her name and such. xD She like to help me with outfit making too.
My grandma... You would think oldies like dolls, but NOOOO. My Grandma HATES my doll. She thinks it's a waste of money. She doesn't quite understand them ethier.
My friends love my doll. Some of them even want one too. :3

I told my mom I was getting one (haven't told dad) and showed her some example pics on google. She asked me if I was worshiping the devil. It kinda made me angry. I showed them to a person I know and she said they were "creepy and a waste of time"

A lot of people I hang out with have BJD, so they don't freak out. However, a guy friend of mine, when I asked him what he thought of them, "I hate the little bastards." They really freak him out. xD A lot of us keep on teasing him about them. Then again, he thinks China dolls are adorable, and I think they are kind of freaky.

My mom was like "Ok if that's what you REALLY want to spend your money on, go ahead."
(I pre-ordered her)
She thinks the pictures look weird, but we'll she what she thinks of a real one.
I haven't told any of my friends, so were gonna have to see on that one.

My mom doesn't really like me spending my money on them, she thinks it's a waiste of money actually. .-. My dad doesn't seem to mind; he actually encourages me sometimes. I told them the full price, they gawked and gasped. >u<
The thing that bugs me the most is that my mom judges the dolls for the clothes/wigs/etc in the pictures, not the doll itself.

I explained to him how they were different from other dolls like 'barbie' but no luck. He's seen the pics too. It's probably because the dolls come nude, then you gotta pay for a whole bunch of other stuff. US$ are also kinda high sweatdrop
I'll admit some dolls are creepy but I really want either the Asleep Eidolons or a Volks (I only found out about BJDs, so they're pratically the only brands I know >.> )

My mom was actually the one who bought her for me! xD
She respects my hobbies and the things I do, especially if it invovles art. She is a professional artist, so she enjoys watching me do anything that is artistic. =3
