Rivener was so incredibly, inexplicably nervous. He'd flown so far, taken the bus and the train to get here, and he hadn't even called first! It had seemed like such a good idea at home: Go to Zul's house and surprise him! but the more time passed, the more Riv wondered if he'd perhaps assumed a little too much.

"No, he'll be happy to see me. He will." The Scorpion floated up the driveway to the house by the beach, blinking at the street number to make sure. Yep, this was the listed address on the Lab contact sheet! It was still light out, still warm and comfortable, but Rivener felt cold to the very core, his rune flickering under his belts.

Maybe I should have brought a gift? Riv thought, frowning at himself. And how do I greet him? Argh, fuuuuuck!

Shaking his head violently to force all these thoughts to just STOP for a second, sending his long locks of hair flipping in the air, the Sigel paused in front of the large door. Steeling himself, Rivener took a deeeeeeeep breath and let it out slowly. His racing heart didn't relent and the Scorpion had to admit that he'll just have to deal with it thumping inside his ribs the entire time. He felt foolish for feeling this way.

One ring-clad finger raised up to press on the doorbell. Bing-bong! Without even meaning to, Rivener's entire body set itself into a casual, attractive hand-on-one-hip posture, looking as handsome as he could make himself. The other hand made some last-minute fluffing of his hair and then settled at his side. Red eyes glittered with anxious excitement and the sultry smile Rivener wore hid his uncertainty perfectly, just like all the actors the Scorpion had learned from on TV.

This isn't a mistake. He'll be happy to see me.

After they'd cleaned the mess that Hurricane Alex had left in her wake, the two males had simply agreed to do their own thing; Brad had picked up his laptop to work in his room and left the demon to his own devices, quite a bit more laidback than his sister. With too much energy to expend and not enough focus yet to ride the hours of video games, Zul had taken to his favorite past time of chasing Lorenzo around the house. It was quite the merry excursion, the Gwee chittering in his own language at the Raevan, who laughed with fingers out-stretched as they both flew through the clean rooms.

No space was held sacred, gliding through the bedrooms (which startled the human male but earned laughter as they zipped back out), the kitchen, the living room, even the back patio and beneath the starry sky. Lorenzo had lead the two back into the main room when he suddenly stopped, head turned towards the foyer. Unfortunately, the Frei did not stop, and clashed against the dragonette with the full force of any demon giving chase, giving a sharp crow of triumph that...sounded unusually like a bell.

Zul paused with the winded Gwee in his arms, staring at the door as though it might have opened itself. His vibrant eyes turned towards the spare room as Brad stuck his head out, giving the human an inquisitive look, thinking it might have been the man's boyfriend again.

"Expecting someone?" he asked Zul with amusement, and when the Raevan shook his head, he made a soft 'hmm' sound and withdrew back into his room. Crawling over the bed and to the window, he glanced out of the blinds, his indigo eyes taking a moment to focus - and when they did, he couldn't have looked more surprised than if it were Zeke himself.

The Frei waited patiently, not one to have a concept of being hurried or a time frame for politeness, stroking over Lorenzo's small nose as the little dragon panted from their game. He himself felt not even the least bit tired, if anything more energized by their game. The Raevan was prepared to release Lorenzo and start their chase anew when the man poked his head out of the door again. Zul looked to him expectantly, although he felt mildly uncertain by the expression the man wore; he'd seen his woman wear such a look of knowing, but it was odd to see it on his face. "No one?"

Surprise belonged to the Raevan as Brad simply shook his head, that amused smile almost unnatural on his face. "You get it. Don't make too much noise, okay?"

Zul could only stare in dumbfounded silence as the man disappeared again, followed by the soft clink of the door shutting. That was unusual, doors only being closed for privacy or to give someone privacy. Frowning, he floated to the door with the Gwee still tucked against his chest, unlocking the door and opening it with a quizzical expression. Any words of politeness died in his throat, and much like his Guardian was doing at that moment, his jaw became slack and he could only stare in stunned silence for several seconds. For as sultry as the Sigel outside his home looked, he was every bit as disheveled with wind-blown hair and constricted pupils, a feral creature to the suave model before him.

The energy that he'd held before he answered the door surged back into him, once more bright eyed and bushy-tailed at the delightful sight the door had given to him. "Rivener!" he practically cried out with unabashed joy, releasing the confused Gwee (who gave quite the indignant squawk) and using that energy to embrace Rivener. It was as though his ribbon was a coil, springing so that his arms twined easily around the Scorpion's shoulders, eyes slipping to a close as his lips found Rivener's own in a firm kiss. Gloved fingers curled into the back fabric of the Sigel's jacket, wanting to drag him in like he'd seen on television but really not having the faintest idea what he'd do once he did.

Instead, he broke the kiss with softly spoken words, however laced with joy as they were. "You came for me!" he grinned widely, still intimately close to the elder Raevan. "My Rivener, you found me!" Zul chose to ignore the unhappy protests of the Gwee for that moment, wanting only to absorb this fairytale moment for all he could.

Rivener was slowly deflating. He'd been standing outside for what, close to a minute now? No one had answered the door. But the lights were open, weren't they? And wasn't that just a curtain moving, over there? The Scorpion's features had melted from a sultry, falsely-confident smile to a longing frown now. Was Zul not here? Or worse, had he seen it was Riv and just decided not to answer? Old fears welled up. Rivener didn't even know WHY he'd ever feel so insecure, he had no reason to be! He was hot, attractive, interesting... right?

Suddenly the door opened, and Riv's red eyes snapped from the window they'd been staring at. It was Zul! The Scorpion's smile instantly returned, with much less of the sultry quality than before since it was infused with such inhuman happiness instead. Happiness and, after a short moment, amusement.

Zul looked so different than the other times. He was disheveled, flushed with wild-like energy, eyes shining. He was not the smooth, cultured, dignified demon Rivener had seen before. Instead of being put out or startled, Rivener couldn't help but think Oh god, he's so damned adorable like this! That thumping in his chest had resumed full force and then some, leaving the Scorpion giddy and light-headed.

"Mmnh!" Rivener moaned in surprise as he was suddenly - there was no better word for it, pounced. Zul was in his arms, kissing him! Rivener lifted both hands to the burnt-ended hair, threading fingers through it and caressing as they kissed, trying not to smile blissfully. Ohhh, this was an even better welcome than the Sigel had hoped for! A short while later the demon frei pulled back just enough to speak, the words sending a thrilled shiver down Rivener's back. He grinned back with utter contentment, more than able to play the sultry, suave man now.

"Of course I found you, my Zul. I was just waiting for my chance... Your woman is out with my human now, so it's just you and me. We can play and they won't stop us or watch us or anything... It'll be fun, won't it?" Riv's hands moved down to lace behind Zul's shoulder blades as he spoke, and the Scorpion's lips pecked small kisses on the frei's neck and shoulders as he continued. "So, my Zul... Are you going to invite me in?"

An inhuman purring sound returned the fingers in his hair, eyes lidding to blue crescents, attention all for the Sigel he was practically wrapped around. He didn't care if anyone saw them, because he had his Rivener, right there, and woe to anyone who might try to interrupt them. Granted, it was only Brad that would be of any hurdle but he was hardly one to speak in this situation. Zul had his woman and Aphismet doing enough interventions for the rest of his existance, as far as he was concerned.

"Yes," he returned in his own version of a sultry tone, voice full of smoke and silk, "just you and me." Another pleased sound escaped him as the Sigel peppered his skin with feathered kisses; the question jerked him back to reality, opening his eyes again and chuckling. "Yes, my Rivener, come in, please. Come in and stay as long as you want." He slid slowly out of the older Raevan's embrace, hands sliding down to take one of Riviener's own and lead him into the place he called home.

It was, for all intents and purposes, what looked like a vacation home: large rooms with little to clutter them, the foyer emptying into the living room that was nearly a completely glass panel in the back, affording a view of the cliffside near by and the ocean beyond it. The open kitchen tiled off to the right with an island and bar to sit at, with a hallway to the left that lead to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The walls were all a clean, beachy white, the floor that wasn't tiled set in wood and absolutely no carpet. The furniture and accents were all in a sage green or leather black, rather well kept and almost looking as though it wasn't lived in at all.

It was into the living room that Zul drew the Sigel, skirting the plush microfiber couches and their plethora of pillows, motioning to the fair sized television mounted on the wall and the consoles beneath it, a few games resting neatly on the clear, shell-embedded table. "My games," the demon stated, giving Rivener a small tour with pride. He pointed towards the hallway indifferently, "Sleeping area," before giving the kitchen much of the same treatment, "Eating area." Still holding Rivener's hand, he lead him more excitedly towards the patio, sliding the door open and drawing him onto the wooden outcropping for the view.

Gambino itself could be seen, an oblong trail of color off to the right, the lights glittering against the ocean and dark sky backdrop, but it did little to light the night sky itself; the stars were cluttered and numerous overhead without a neighborhood lighting system to hide them, the sky a thick blanket over the crest of water that went as far as the eye could see. "Where I go when I think of you," he explained with triumph, the hand grasping Rivener's squeezing it. "Sometimes down to the beach, but it's nice, to overlook everything."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:46 pm

Rivener chuckled sultrily at Zul's invitation. Oh, if Riv had his way he'd NEVER leave. And while he didn't like that their nearly-entwined half-bodies had to disentangle, the Scorpion rather enjoyed how Zul took hold of his hand to guide him. It was such a small, chaste little gesture but Rivener liked it as much as the kissing. He felt so welcome, so wanted! He had a hard time keeping the wide, silly grin from his face.

Rivener let himself be tugged through the house easily, floating behind Zul in a relaxed fashion. It was simple to just let himself coast along, Zul dictating their trajectory through the rooms; this left the ruby-red eyes to glance around to his heart's content. Wow, this place was nice. Much more airy, clean, and modern-looking than Aphismet and Isikoro's old haunted house. This was like those places Riv saw in the magazines! Everything was clean and clearly defined, even the lines from the seats and the angles of the kitchen's island. A very pretty home, but one that seemed too... too cold for Zul. He looked like he should live somewhere covered in suede and soft leathers, with fur and candles... Somewhere darker, warmer, mysterious, alluring. Or perhaps Rivener was simply basing this on his opinion of Zul himself.

The Sigel's attention returned to the demon frei as the smoky voice purred out words in the living room. Zul seemed so disinterested in the kitchen and bedrooms, it made Rivener smirk. Riv's eyes had only just started going over the titles on the games Zul had declared as "his" when the frei suddenly resumed moving, tugging the calmly floating Riv out to the balcony.

Rivener breathed out a soft sound of awe at the view. He could hear surf crashing, the stars covered the sky as thickly as it did back home, and in the near distance the city lights glittered. The half-moon shone on the ocean water as beautifully as Rivener remembered from his time spent in the hotel that one week, but from here it seemed even MORE amazing.

Zul's voice broke the serene atmosphere in a very welcome way, drawing the Scorpion's eyes. The corners of Rivener's lips curled up slightly, and he hoped it was dark enough to hide the slight blush he felt on his cheeks. Hearing Zul saying so effortlessly that he thought about him, and often enough to warrant mentioning, sent Rivener's breath accelerating.

"Zul. It's beautiful. Everything. Your house, your games, your place out here... And the sky here... It's the same as when I look at it. I think of you a lot too, you know. When I am outside, I see the red star and I think of you." Pulling his hand out from Zul's grip softly, Rivener laced that arm around the demon's torso, pressing the two of them closer together side-by-side. Riv leaned his head over onto Zul's, relaxing and letting out a deep sigh of contentment. "I really like it here. Can we stay out here for a little while before we play?"

The were a touch of being disgruntled as he lost the Scorpion's hand, but it was quickly replaced by a gentle sound of warmth as Rivener drew him close in the embrace of one arm. His own slid out to rest over the Sigel's belts, thumb caressing the skin above them on the opposite hip, tilting his head to better allow the other to rest against him. This, just like this, how many times had he thought of it? Zul felt rewarded, somehow, that he had the moment to claim with Rivener; it was a far cry from not knowing if he'd ever see his Rivener again.

"You think of me?" he asked quietly, some surprise in his voice. Certainly he had thought of Rivener frequently, but he never actually thought that the other might think of him in turn, nor would he expect him to. Zul floated a little closer to him, his eyes closing for a moment before he forced them open again; now that he had Rivener here, he didn't want to miss seeing him just because he was comfortable! "Yes," he replied, again noticing that his vocabulary diminished when it came to Rivener, "as long as you want."

Really, the Sigel could ask to stay in the pantry and Zul would be thrilled; he had what he wanted, so the rest was negligible. He felt peaceful then, the energy from previous seeming to simmer into a content hum that settled into the back of his mind for later consumption. His long ears vaguely picked out the sound of the door closing and heavy footsteps, piecing together that Brad had come out and shut the front door, or more accurately, had come out to silence the angry Gwee that he wasn't getting attention now. The thought made the demon smile, grateful that at least one human seemed to understand, which made him remember Zeke and the flower.

Just to make him smile. Blue eyes shifted towards Rivener. Just to make him happy.

"Rivener," he started, drawing out the name with the gentle purred inflection on the 'r's, "do you like flowers?" The Frei himself didn't quite see the appeal of the dainty things that were prone to an ugly death, but maybe if the Sigel had an interest, he could find one too. Maybe he could understand exactly what it meant, if he could see how Rivener felt.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 13, 2009 10:31 pm

Rivener sighed again in contentment as he settled against the demon-frei, smiling at the feeling of Zul's fingers on the skin just above his belts. The smell of Zul's hair... it was unique, like charred things but crisp and clear and fresh at the same time. Like ash and snow. Rivener's eyes had slipped closed, unaware of his companion's effort NOT to do that very action.

The Scorpion picked up sounds from inside as well. Zoe's angered squawks, and also footsteps? Riv frowned and wanted to turn and look inside, but he couldn't really give a crap. Unless those footsteps came towards them, there was no way Rivener would move from his spot. Not even his head would turn. He swore if that was a burglar or something and it tried to attack them, Riv would destroy him. No one was going to ruin this, no one.

Zul's sudden question was so out of the blue it actually DID make Rivener move. The Scorpion's head pulled back slightly to look over at Zul, blinking in confusion for a moment. "Flowers?" he repeated. "They're okay, I suppose. We have some in our gardens at home... Why do you ask?"

Gears turned in Rivener's head. He couldn't be certain, of course, but the only reason he could imagine that someone would ask him that question was... Was if... A soft blush colored the Sigel's face again (ARGH god, was he turning into a CHICK!?) and he lifted his other arm to Zul's hair, turning to face him with a shy smirk. "Are you asking me because... because you want to get ME flowers?" Leathery wings fluttered and rustled with barely-contained happiness before Riv got them under control, pressing them against his back. "Zul... It could be a piece of garbage or even lint you find in your dryer; anything at all that you give me would be the best gift ever." Rivener wanted to grin, he really did, but he hesitated only because he feared his theory was wrong. He'd feel so foolish if this wasn't what Zul had meant by it! And really, presuming to know Zul's thoughts just from one little question? How arrogant was that! More and more convinced that he must have read too much into it, Rivener fussed and fretted with Zul's hair, not meeting his gaze until he got an answer.

He moved with the Scorpion, tilting his head back and to the side so that his blue eyes could meet the rubies of Rivener's own, momentarily concerned that the question had insulted him. Dark brows furled in that worry, perhaps the most expression he'd ever shown on his face outside of a smile, which was also briefly absent in his concern. "Ah." It was more a sound than a reply, and he almost felt...disappointed that Zeke was wrong. It was a good thing he hadn't just given him a flower, that would have been a bit harder to swallow. So flowers were out of the question, then--

He hadn't realized it, but his eyes had lowered while he thought, and Rivener's voice brought them back up to meet the Sigel's gaze. Blinking a few times, he nodded slowly to the question, the smirk still not terribly reassuring that he hadn't upset the elder Raevan. "I...yes..." And there went his ability to speak again. The demon was almost angry at himself in that moment, but Rivener spoke again, and the tides turned completely, washing away his rage with soothing surprise. Garbage? Lint? He was having a hard time wrapping his mind around it, but the way it made him feel, the lightness in his partially formed chest...it made all the sense in the world.

Gloved palms rested against the Sigel's forearms, and despite his efforts, his eyes did close, enjoying the fingers in his fire-tipped hair. "I want to give you something that will make you smile," he said at length, making sure his words were clear and to the point. Spotty vocabulary be damned. "Something to make you happy, someday." If it was flowers, or garbage, or lint, he wanted to know, he wanted to be able to have the power to do something for Rivener. While Zul 'claimed' the Sigel as his own, he still wanted to impress him, to be able...hell, he didn't know! He wasn't entirely sure what flowers meant, but he knew it was important, and to him, Rivener was his importance, no matter what it meant to anyone else. It was frustrating, but it was the truth - his truth.

Blue eyes opened again, lit by the soft glow of his central horn. "Something special, but I...don't know. Are flowers too special, too soon?" He'd only ever seen people exchange rings on the television outside of gifts on holidays; the concept of something other than flowers vague at best. If Rivener said it was too soon, then he would make sure to find that something else.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 14, 2009 7:48 am

Rivener's wayward gaze slipped back to the azure eyes when Zul began declaring how he wanted to give Riv something to make him smile. Hell, by the wide beaming smile that stretched at the Sigel's face, it was already accomplished! He had a hard time keeping the giddy giggling from escaping as he floated there, trying to look composed when all he wanted to do was zoom off into the sky and dance and fly and laugh and somehow express how incredibly happy he was.

"Zul... Oh, my Zuuuuul." Riv's hands both moved to the demon's cheeks, cradling the triple-horned head and tilting it up to meet his lips. The kiss was as soft and adoring as Riv currently felt, keeping the contact for as long as he could manage without bursting into gleeful laughing. Eventually he moved away with a quiet gasp, grinning again and cracking open ruby-red eyes. "Mnh, I'm so happy already! But if you really want to give me something, I would love flowers! It's not too special, it's not too soon. Get me red ones. I like red. Or blue ones, like your eyes. ...Hrm, I think I'd like blue flowers best." Rivener finally gave in to the chuckling, slipping both his arms around Zul's back and hugging him tightly, nuzzling the dual-colored hair furiously. He was SOOO HAPPY!

"Ahrm," the Scorpion cleared his throat, pulling away and tossing his head slightly to get his locks back into place, mindful of not breaking his mysterious, alluring facade any more than he already had. "So... Did you want to do anything? What were you doing before I showed up, you looked so disheveled? Maybe we could do that together!"

The demon was beside himself with surprise and gratification. His grin was literally ear to elongated ear, all too happy to be caught up in the Scorpion's embrace, nuzzling the Sigel's collar bone as his hair was vigorously given attention to. "But to smile when I'm not there," he ammended in his broken fashion, not quite as annoyed this time that Rivener seemed to have that effect on him. "To think of me by." Zul tucked the preferences away in the back of his mind for the time being, not entirely sure he'd seen blue flowers before, but he was going to do his best to find them.

The loss of the Sigel against him made his chest feel funny, but he didn't have much time to think on it, lifting his gloved hands and running them through his thoroughly tousled hair. "I was chasing Lorenzo," he grinned a bit, that energy threatening to trickle back inside of him, turning to look back in the house. He didn't see his green companion, assuming Brad had taken him into his room. The Raevan wasn't entirely sure the little dragon's heart could take two of them chasing him, betting that Rivener was a lot faster than he was. The Gwee was fast, but he did have a bit of a potbelly from sweets and he didn't want to scare off the only 'friend' he had when he wasn't allowed outside.

"There's games, the shooters and simulators," his crystalline eyes flicked to the wall the television was affixed to, remembering Rivener had expressed interest in the latter, before turning his head to look over the darkening cliffside, "or the beach. I don't mind, I have you here, we can do anything...or nothing." The demon shrugged his bare shoulders, content smile curving his lips, making his brilliant blue eyes shine with its touch. "Can do either and talk, yes? Get to know more about my Rivener so I don't have to ask what he likes. I can know."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 17, 2009 7:57 pm

Rivener didn't mind the broken flow of conversation; he quickly figured out what Zul was talking about. Piecing together people's words and meanings from disjointed, coded, or just outright non-existant words was one of Rivener's strong points. Compared to Roux or Eiry, Zul's speech was top-notch. What Rivener took from the demon's words was enough to make his heart pound against his chest like crazy! Oh, god, this HAD to be love! Zul wanted Rivener to think of him all the time while they were apart? Wanted Riv to smile because of a gift? That HAD to be love, it HAD to! Zul must know, right? ...And yet Rivener's courage wasn't strong enough to just ask. Surely if Zul knew, he'd say something. Riv would just have to listen extra attentively to the words that were between the other words.

"Chasing Lorenzo?"
Riv asked at the frei's explanation, grinning. He could see it so easily, Zul darting about, a blur of brown and orange after a blur of green through the pristine house. The Scorpion gave a chuckle. "That sounds like fun!" Like Zul, Riv glanced inside the doors but saw no sign of the little Gwee. "Hn. Maybe we can chase him some other time."

Zul then listed off a few other things they could do, and Rivener had to admit that everything sounded wonderful. Much more entertaining than they would be at home... Probably because of the company. The grin turned into a sudden, playful smile as Rivener came up with an idea of what he might enjoy. "How about we go to the beach? Since we can't find Zoe, we can chase each other! Wouldn't that be fun? You chase me, and if you catch me you can ask me a question. Then it'll be my turn to chase you, and if I catch you I can ask YOU a question! Sound like fun?"

Already expecting his idea to be accepted, Rivener floated out of arm's reach of Zul, tilting his head and leveling his best bedroom gaze to lure the demon into chasing. The beach was close, they'd just have to zip up over the balcony and straight down to the sandy stretch. Riv might have an advantage with his new Sigel strengths, but he didn't plan on getting away for long...

"Ber has him," he explained, not immediately thinking that Rivener wouldn't know who that is, let alone that Alex had a brother. Zul nodded thoughtfully, briefly remembering that his woman had mentioned that she'd given Aphismet a Lorenzo, named something else. "Maybe if I come visit," he offered up hopefully, "you have one too, if they play chase?" He was intelligent enough to know that they weren't all the same, especially the ones that lived outside. The one time he'd tried, the female dragonette had been so spooked she'd disappeared for a week!

But the conversation moved on - or rather, Rivener's expression did, and the demon was terribly attentive to the Sigel not to miss it. His blue eyes all but glittered beneath the glow of his central horn, his smile tugging into a near devious grin, inclining his head. "A challenge," he purred softly, gaze fixated on the come-hither look his Rivener was giving him. Zul was vaguely familiar with the 'bedroom eyes' look, having seen it in enough movies and shows, but to see the elder Raevan given them to him sent an entirely new thrill down his exposed spine, making his wings flutter with anticipation. What did that look mean?

Maybe it would be his first question. The demon's arms flexed and coiled as he slowly floated after Rivener, fingers drawing over the railing before they left the immediate light of the patio. Zul had only ever chased Dayo, and while they weren't exerting themselves for anything more than fun, this was different. There was something more personal about the game; this time, the shiver made his wings arch high and beat with a clatter of ring on bone. If Rivener wanted to be chased first, he was ready!
PostPosted: Wed Jun 17, 2009 8:50 pm

Zul hadn't said yes with any words, but Rivener still heard the reply loud and clear. It was evident in that determined glint shining in Zul's eyes, in the way the demon was advancing on him, in the quality of his voice when he'd said a challenge. The metallic clatter of the rings on the frei's wings made Riv's breath hitch with a sudden sense of anxiety; he was the prey for now, and the sound of those rings meant Zul was too close.

They were over the balcony rail now, half-way down to the beach, and Riv let out a sultry chuckle before he suddenly snapped his own wings open with a loud rustle, beating them strongly and zooming off into the darkness. He'd not go TOO fast, matching Zul's chasing speed, but-... but he had to put some distance between them at first.

Straight as a bullet, his long front dual-colored locks waving behind him, Riv headed towards the sand. Just as he was about to slam into the first dune the Sigel veered to the right, making a zig-zag pattern and glancing behind him. Ah, there, Zul was far enough. Slowing his speed to more frei-appropriate, remembering how the wind used to feel when HE was a frei going full-tilt, Riv turned up and looped back around, giving the demon a chance to catch up.

Zigs and zags continued, around rock outcroppings and up cliff-sides until Rivener finally "made a wrong choice" and zagged too close to Zul...

He was a beautiful sight to behold, the strength of his jointed wings and the trail of his ragged ribbon, the way his bi-colored hair chased him into the night; Zul was all too happy to follow, too in awe to put all his speed into it immediately. Rivener was indeed his prey and he the hunter until those roles switched, but like any good beast of hunger, he didn't want to swoop in for the kill immediately. He knew what he was stalking was far superior to him in many ways, but there was still a truth of their game: he was going to catch him, one way or another.

Once they hit the white sand, he did give chase, in part because the thrill of watching Rivener wait for him made him feel like he had an obligation to catch what was his. His body angled near horizontal in his chase, marbled wings spread to balance and propel himself, rather fast and sharp on his turns - something he'd learned from Dayo - relishing the wind in his hair and the tug of the speed against his ribbon. The demon couldn't rightly say what made this game so much more of possession when the reward was an answer to a question he didn't have, but it was always different with the Scorpion - always had been. He'd never thought that their dubious conversation over the phone would lead to this, that Rivener would kiss him and change everything - and he knew, then, what his question would be.

He couldn't tell if what he saw was on purpose or not, but it didn't matter. Bent at the angle he was, it didn't take much for his ribbon to slide against the white sand and turn him just so, arms wrapping firmly about the Sigel's torso; one hand gripped Rivener's belts, the other with fingers curled in an almost claw-like manner against his chest. Zul's cheek pressed between the older Raevan's shoulderblades, breathing in the scent of ocean, wet sand and the scent that was unmistakenly the Sigel against him. Bone wings curled beneath Rivener's own, lending to the motion of wrapping around his dark counterpart.

His ribbon had barely caught up, settling against Rivener's when he posed his question, one he'd thought of frequently, in a purred, smoke-ladden voice. "Why did you kiss me, that Valentine's Day?"
