The sunshine warmly cut through the tree leaves, leaving smatterings of light in their wake. In early morning the forest was not wanting for illumination, but the addition of the bright rays gave it some extra warmth that the well shaded area does not always have access to. It would have been the wonderful day for wandering about that Ross had imagined before he set out -- save for the trees. His two legger lived near such a forest, yet he hadn't bothered exploring the terrain since arriving in these lands. He felt rather at odds with himself, being angry at trees for being in a forest; they really were being quite inconvenient, however.
The spring blooms, apparently, had now decided it was time to sluff off all over any passing soquili. The flowers and floor litter, too. Of course, it probably didn't help that Ross was a rather large creature to be nosing through any wooded area. His large shoulders hit low-lying tree branches and his feathering shuffled the ground with every step -- and of course, there was the contstant ducking around. Still, he was enjoying himself, and managing to ignore the occasional pokes and pollen puffs from whatever he stepped on or rubbed against.

The day was quite beautiful and peaceful it seemed. In Octobers mind all was well, and was in fact one of the best days she had seen in a while. Prancing around, she fallowed the well traveled path of man and beast alike. Straight on through the thicket of the forest. All around her the flowers where in bloom, the leaves full and rich. It was already turning out to be such a great warm season. Bringing life this way and that. Her gentle sauntering carried her far with each step. Taking on the majestic looking show prance that was past down through her father. Though she noticed not.
As she continued on her way, a strange sound caught her ear. It wasn't so much strange as startling however, and so jerked a bit and stood perfectly still as she scented the air. It was at that very moment of surprise that she noticed the rather large object just, pushing through the very trees around her. Curiosity caught the best of the young mare, and so she walked a little towards the large moving object she had seen. Of coarse she knew it had to be another soquili, whether it was friend or foe she knew not. Gently her voice rang out without knowing.
" Hello?"

A benign voice lilted from between the trees and bushes, landing in the ears of one flower-and-litter covered draft. Unfortunately, being in such a state of dishevel was not the most upsetting thing to Ross; rather, it was how startled he was at the sound. (He decided to grant some leeway in that he wasn't expecting company during this walk. Expected was different from... unexpected.) His head tossed, cracking off a small branch that of course stuck in his forelock. He began to chastise the tree and himself afterward, but cut himself quickly short. After all, someone had spoken to him!
"Hello? Is someone there?" he called out in return. Ross hadn't caught sight of who had called out before the branch tangled itself in his vision. Hopefully it wasn't the tree. He ambled forward, following the direction of the voice.
