It had been one beautiful morning. The sun shone brightly over the sleeping land as early hours dawned effectively amongst the inhabitants however many began to awaken, soquili and the two-leggers they had become fond of.
Neria fluttered two sleepy lids to the light, having to squint to adjust to its lazy sunlit rays. She let out a gentle groan, a hum vibrating at the back of a dry throat; standing, she outstretched her limbs and the two pairs of elegant wings allowing the awakening sensation to flood through her body into relaxation.
Once again she felt chipper and up to the day, her mother was already awake and roaming the herd lands, her father alongside her and the two siblings doing their own thing. Why must she be the last to awaken? A small sigh lifted into the air as she trotted along the path secretly to lead down to the teepee's where their trusted two-legger friends remained.
They weren't quite awake yet, so she couldn't possibly find company here. With that disappointing thought she continued on, the lion like tail swishing calmly behind with every step. The forest wasn't too long of a distance from the mountain trail after passing through the clearing which came first before the forest. everyday she found herself traveling towards it and it only made her smile more at the thought of singing along with the birds, or small animals.
"I hope they are awake!" She chuckled, skipping into the forest at last. It was then she saw... The object. The central attention for the day and pausing, the two dark surrounded orbs settled on it. Very taken back by its presence.
What were she to do..?

The birds had drawn silent for Neria's intrusion into the area, and now cheeped curiously down at the scene, perching on their branches. The pitch basket settled itself quietly in a particularly dark patch of clover, with little more than a small slit of sunlight peeking through the canopy of leaves overhead, only a few others settling behind it and waiting for later hours in the day to phase over the little basket. Bright, neon markings dotted the rim and the strings holding the hem of the lid and rim of the basket closed, with two feathers dangling out of the bright green bead.
A gentle breeze brushed the feathers sideways softly before they settled again. The weave adjusted a little and gave a few soft crackles, but silenced itself again a moment later to settle on the clover patch once more.

The object became much more clearer when approached. It was a little basket, woven with dark material and complimented by more brighter, contrasting colors. Neria slowly walked towards it and stopped before she could f been doing any harm to the ones who were looking after the basket.
She looked left then right, blinking at the blank area; nothing was there just shadow, something that this forest in particularly was known for.
'No parents? or family? It can't possibly be an orphan who would do such a thing!? There out. Yes that's it.. They're just... Gathering food!'
It was something to ease the uncertainty of the previous thought. She knew just what to do. She circled the basket eying the glowing bead then lowered to the ground, folding the long limbs into the thick blades of grass.
"Don't worry little one" She whispered smiling kindly like the foal inside would somehow be able to see. "Auntie Neria will take care of you until your parents come back" chuckling, the thought of being an auntie actually sparked a fluster of pale pink. Little foals running around the place would just be adorable to her, she could tell them stories and play with them, it would be lots of fun.

The basket murmured lightly and remained settled silently in the grass, though it seemed the weave had relaxed significantly. Another gentle breeze ruffled the femme's own feathers softly, brushing agianst her robin's-egg-blue horn and over her stark, brilliant white fur.
The brilliant, glowing green bead continued to sparkle in the off-light, the black of the weave splotched loosely with sunlight as the multicolored string woven around the basket and through the weave decorated it briliantly.
Vigilantly the basket remained silent, to hold and obtain the attendance of whoever might be looking on. And as Neria looked over the basket with her gentle chuckle, she might spy the lacing around the edges of the basket and it's lid beginning to unweave and reshape it's build, whish would shortly be followed by the rest of the basket's dark and neon coating, until finally, before the white Mare nestled a half-blind colt, who's eyes had yet to even open. A brilliant, neon green tapered the ends of his locks, both in mane and tail, and a pair of wings rested on his back, with a small, tribal-reminiscent marking between their bases.
Brilliant, stark white wings, white as Neria's own fur, were tipped at all the flight feathers with black, and spotted there with a pastel robin's egg blue akin to her own horn. Around his short toussle of a tail drifted a gren-striped string, with a feather attatched to it's end, and as the colt looked up, the dreamcatcher behind his ear twitched, the green feather rustling with the motion. "Mahmah?" he said softly, tilting his brief muzzle up at her, in all his awkwardly shaped youth. His sharp, brilliant green eyes watched her for signs of acceptance as he struggled to his feet.
Finally, the Neonized socks and hooves he adorned on his forelegs showed itself, green, leading up into the same pastel robin's-egg, then fading into his midnight coat once more. "Mahmah!" He cried happily, and gave one gleeful jump before landing flat on his chin in front of Neria, smiling shut-eyed up at the fae.
(I WAS going to stick with the basket, but once the idea came to my head, it was too cute to resist. ^-^
Btw, I'll still lbe sparse; Net connection isn't to be trusted here. The trees don't like the dish much during the day, but it seems pretty dependable at night most of the time. ^-^ I'll post when I can. Don't forget me. ^-^)

Neria laid beside the basket, watching its still frame with only the reminiscence of the breeze shuffling the oven accessories around. Her gaze was soft over it 'Auntie...' she thought slowly, however what if its parents never did turn up... What would happen to the poor thing.
'I'll take care of it!' she settled, expression filled with determination. Cracks subdued the rim, Neria's ears springing upright letting the wavering sounds fill them with curiosity. Her mouth fumbled a small sound, pools of nothingness, then orbs of heaven darted to peaka round the basket - hoping for a better look.
Before long, there it was! A small colt baffled Neria, pulling her head back in awe. The foal was so innocent, laid with legs bent and its pure white, with exception of color highlights, wings nestled to his side.
"Mahmah?" He'd cried, then fallen flat before the mare who couldn't help squeal in defeat.
"Aren't you just adorable" Neria uttered softly, reaching down her muzzle to lift the face of the smaller soquili. She let her eyes link with the smaller ones half blind eyes before slipping her muzzle past and nuzzling into his hair comfortingly.

Sai murred up at the creature he had dubbed his mother, nuzzling against her muzzle as he felt it press against his cheek, then giggled as it sought through his hair. His little green eyes watched her curiously before he managed to right himself, then thrusted his head towards her underbelly, looking for a swollen teat to provide some nourishment. He had no care for the convention of manners, no foal ever really does, but at least he was gentle about his prodding.

Neria blushed, seeing where the foals head had forced itself towards. His nose prodded her stomach, but she wasn't pregnant, she never had been with the certainty there wasn't any milk awaiting the foal.
Pushing her head forward towards the young colt, she nudged his head away gently, and silently shook her head, sorrow illuminating the two blue eyes.
"I'm sorry little one, I'm not your mummy-" She looked to the foliage, breaking away from the being who knew no different then allowed herself to pull him closer to keep him warm. "-We will go to find her later."
'If the foal doesn't feed soon then he could starve, oh- what am I going to do..'

He looked up at her with a beg in his eyes, but settled for the cuddle when it was offered, curling against Neria's form. The words didn't mean anything to something so young, they were merely a source of comfort for the foal; to hear the creature he believed to be his mother speaking to him.
Sai hummed softly, and uttered his word for Neria again before he started drifting off, curled up against her.

The foal was more than comfortable and was settling into sleep quite nicely however that still left one thing - Food. What would replace mothers milk? What foal could survive without it? Or could anything replace it? Shed never been taught any of this! With a sigh of defeat, she continued looking over the foal, embraced in the offered cuddle.
She continued to ponder as the breeze whipped through the foal's mane, strand by strand in gentle waves.
"I've got it!" She squeaked. An idea had come to mind. 'If I can find another mothering animal, maybe I can persuade it to let the foal drink from her.' It seemed like a good idea for the time being. It would be just finding another mother.
She realized her voice had been raised louder than what it had meant to be and hoped it hadn't awoke him. This could possibly mean another trip home to Eden. Mother always knew best...

Sai gave a soft, whinnied snort as his head jumped up a little, but he pretty much stayed asleep, leaning into his 'mother's warmth again. He would smile and wait until his 'mother' stood, but his birthhunger didn't seem ready to abate so soon, even as he worked towards drifting off again, snuggled against her, in his own little newborn way. He gave a soft knicker and nuzzled a little deeper against her shoulder.

Neria didn't want to leave it too long or else the foals hunger would just continue to grow. With a gentle nudge to the foals cheek she slowly raised from the ground, so he didn't just slip straight to the floor and flicked her tail side to side, smiling warmly downwards.
"Come on little one! We have somewhere we need to be. I'm sure your hungry, so the quicker we get there, the faster you get some yummy milk." She chuckled, trying to be comforting like a mother.
Trotting a few paces in front, she peered over her shoulder and came to a halt; Waiting to see if he was up to following.

Sai's head tilted softly as he watched her, then gave a soft squeak and pushed up off the ground on his spindly legs. He got a couple steps' worth of distance before tumbling to the ground again and looking up at Neria. It was... In an odd sort of way, pathetically cute, but it was far from enough to deter the colt, who repeated the process with a bit more success, and began to push onwards after Neria with more confidence the farther he got.

"Awwwwww." Neria squeaked, the foals struggles too cute to resist it. She watched him with a warm smile that lit up her whole features. He was so small and innocent, new to the world. It was amazing being able to witness all his first steps, his first words and it was only just kicking in that she might have to be his adoptive mother.
When Sai stumbled closer to her, she nuzzled into his hair in praise and in comfort. "Nice work, you did a good job in finding your feet!" She giggled and nudged him gently ahead of her before walking along side the colt.
She was leading them through the forest and into the clearing, there it was wide and open and she wondered if he had enough strength to try have a short run around it. It would help him, building up strength in his legs for the long mountain trail that was yet to come.

Sai gave a soft whinny and playfully pulled away from the nuzzle befoe reaching up after a lock of the angeni's own mane. When he missed, his unstable little legs collapsed under him and he landed in a bit of a heap, looking up at her. "Mwoo , Maha?" He muttered with his untaught little tongue.

When Sai jumped up for her mane she pulled her head back up high in surprise then he collapsed into a heap and she stared clueless for a couple of seconds before ended up in gentle laughter.
"You'll get the hang of it eventually!" She beamed and nudged the colt back onto his feet. After he was stable enough to stand again, she trotted over the clearing slowly with the little one hoping he could get used to his legs in the short run.
Then headed towards the mountain where they would make their way to 'home.'
