What they have told you:
You have been hired as an off-season caretaker at the elegant, Overlook Hotel in the mountains of Colorado. We have modified and remade the interior to keep up with the standards of 'elegance' as time moves forward. You will be staying here for 5 months in isolation this winter. You will perform simple maintenance, not at all physically demanding. You have full access to the kitchen, the rooms, everything left in the hotel. You can bring your family, or friends to keep you company, if you would like. Be here in a week with your things and your family and friends.
What they haven't told you:
There have been several deaths here. -Mr.Grady brought his wife and two young daughters while serving as an off-season caretaker. He killed them with an axe and then blew his own brains out. -Mr.Torrance brought his wife and son here during the off-season. He killed Hallorann, the cook that had felt the need to check on the family, and attempted to kill his family, luckily the escaped and he was found dead in the Overlook maze, over exposed in the bitter snow.
But, you'll figure that out anyways...The isolation always gets to them...always..
How it's gonna work.
We start with a group of six friends that all met in college. One of the friends get this 'wonderful' job to be the off-season cartaker. This friend invite sthe other friends to join said friend, since said friend has no immediate family to bring, and doesn't want to be stuck up there alone. If you've seen the move - "The Shining" - then you should assume what will become of the hired friend and his guests.

Accepted profiles:
My Name is: Sebastian Anders I go by: Bastian I am: 26 Take it or Leave it: He's very quiet and reserved and usually puts work before everything else, but tends to loosen up a bit around his friends. This is where I've been: Bastian spent most of his childhood in foster care in Los Angeles, and was basically on his own from the day he turned 18. Fortunately, he turned out to be a very independent and self-sufficient young man and was able to get a full ride to college with a music scholarship. Currently working as a composer for a big production company, Bastian has less than six months to write the score for a big upcoming movie. He accepted the job at the Overlook Hotel because he wanted to get away from all the distractions of normal life, and wonders if he's going to regret inviting his college buddies. Bet'cha didn't know: What his friends don't know is that Bastian has had a history of psychiatric disorders and after having a major nervous breakdown he was committed for several months. Who I am: Employee This is me: Bastian Brought to you by: Magnificent Dustmop
My Name is: Rin Tsuzuki I go by: Rin I am: 25 Take it or Leave it: Rin can be sarcastic, sly, whimsical, rude, considerate, suspicious, intimidating, a flirt, melodramatic, and sensitive. This is where I've been: Rin grew up in Boston, MA. She took Yoga, and dance classes while there. She also learned a little Karate while she was in elementary school. She lived there up until college. During college she married a man she soon divorced only a few years later. She moves a lot and eventually found herself in Colorado where she met friends and decided to stay for a while. She agreed with one of her friends to come up into the isolated mountains for the winter because she had nothing better to do, and free food, and shelter for five months, heaven! She doesn't keep up with her relatives, and has no one out there waiting for her, so five months away from...no one...wouldn't be a problem, at least that's what she thought. Bet'cha didn't know: Rin has many talents, acquired by her various jobs. She's been a stewardess, a maid, a janitor, a cook, and a store clerk. Who I am: Friend This is me: Rin Brought to you by: Ookami_Oshima
My Name is: Cassie I go by: Cass I am: 24 Take it or Leave it: Cass can be a bit of a pain at times, she enjoys teasing people and is very childish in moments. She can also be quite the flirt but usually goes around messing with anyone she can annoy. Although the girl does tend to have quite a temper and can be very stubborn and is very intelligent...when she wants to be. This is where I've been: Cass has lived a pretty good life with her family and friends. She was always at an above average state when in school and never really had a sad story to tell. Her parents have been with her through out her whole life with almost no issues. The have been with her step by step all until that one day. That great day when Cassy earned a scholarship for her scientific talents. She instantly took this offer and has just now finished her fifth year only to do one more. Cassie has been with her friends all since middle school and once she was invited to a grand hotel by one she took the offer quickly, which, begins our story. Bet'cha didn't know: Cassie Has asthma and is greatly afraid of lightning. Who I am: Friend This is me: Hello, Hello Brought to you by: Tr-Whorie
My Name is: Harper Jane Grace I go by: Whatever you want. Mostly, that is. I am: twenty-three. Take it or Leave it: Harper is an extremely outgoing individual. She doesn't take too much seriously, and tries to make light of nearly every situation. She's a jokester and a prankster, and loves teasing people. Sarcasm is key in conversation, and if you can't simply understand it, then she'll probably tell you how dumb you are. She's blunt and somewhat quick to anger, but only if you do the right things to set her off. Harper has a slight bipolar issue as well. This is where I've been: Harper grew up in a small town in Romania. So yes, she has an accent. Her family was very close-nit, and she knew most everyone in her town like family. A few people, however, did not consider Harper and company 'family'. They commenced to setting Harper's house on fire. Her parents did not escape, but Harper and her younger brother did. They decided that their city in Romania was not as safe as they thought it was, and they'd heard great stories about America. Although most people hated America, Harper thought it was a beautiful place full of new opportunities. She attended college in the States, and got a better education that she might have in Romania. Bet'cha didn't know: Harper has many tattoos down her back and upper thighs. She's traveled a lot around the world and knows how to speak a few languages. She also loves to cook various foreign foods. Who I am: Friend This is me: Harper Jane Brought to you by: RillaJEster
My Name is: Andrue James Rhodes I go by: Drue, Jamie, Pooh, Kid I am: Twenty four Take it or Leave it: Drue is for lack of a better word crazy. Everything he does opposes what he was doing before--He could be having the time of his life and then decide that he wants to be sadistic and insane. But he really is a sweet heart and a bit of a flirt for the most part, anything said wouldn't make him lose his smile or temper and he is always the first one up to take the blame for someone. He used to be what the world would refer to as 'normal.' But time and drugs changed Mr.Rhodes and that was how the Dr. fixed him, lots of medicine and therapy. This is where I've been: Andrue was a traveling man, since the moment he could leave home he was off and running. He got scholarships like it was going out of style and was told he would make history. But that just bore him, he wanted to do things no one else had ever done. So he went from place to place to find people that could help him with this task until he arrived at England. He was told that there was unspoken magic; of course he didn't believe in that nonsense but went anyways--what he found was the love of his life. A petite brunette with eyes to kill and a heart to awe. Drue and this woman had relationship like no other, and no other it was. He proposed to her and she laughed, ripped his heart out. Oh how he wanted to kill her, but he loved her way to much. He found the man that she cheated with and he 'barely it him.' Leaving him with a few years in jail, therapy and an insane asylum ticket. Now fully changed he went and found himself some good friends, keeping his past away from them. Bet'cha didn't know: The sight of blood makes Drue sick to his stomach, the only thing that cures this is candy. Who I am: Friend This is me: You say crazy like it's a bad thing.Brought to you by: Till the grass turns bwoo
My Name is: Jared Lee Reeves I go by: Jared I am: 25 Take it or Leave it: Jared is very charming and cool, a true ladies man and the complete opposite of his best friend Bastian. He rarely gets angry and his calm nature makes others very trusting of him. This is where I've been: Jared was raised in LA by his single father who owned a local chain of casinos. However, when he was 11 his father was arrested after getting involved in a counterfeiting scheme and Jared was temporarily put into foster care until the whole deal was "sorted out". While staying in a group home he met Bastian and they soon became best friends, staying in contact even after Mr. Reeves got out of jail and moved the family to Denver, Colorado. He reunited with Bastian in college and agreed to take off work for five months to stay at the Overlook "for old times sake". Bet'cha didn't know: Taking over the family business when he got out of college, Jared used his business skills to expand his father's empire and is now one of Colorado's most wealthy bachelors. Who I am: Friend This is me: Jared Brought to you by: Magnificent Dustmop

((I guess I'll start, this is just something to get it going until everyone else joins.))
Bastian awoke to the screeching of his alarm clock. He slammed his hand down on the snooze button and then turned on the lamp by his bed. Feeling around on the night table for his glasses, he tried to recall the dream he'd had that night. He was running through some sort of maze being chased by someone he didn't recognize but had the faint feeling that he knew. "Come here you little s**t! It's time to take your medicine!" Just thinking about it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He shuddered.
"That was odd." he said to himself, shaking the feeling off as he went to get ready for the day ahead.
After drinking a cup of tea and getting dressed he began to load his luggage into the trunk of his old Volkswagen bus. First his two suitcases, then his cello, tucked safely away in its case. Throwing his coat on he started the van and pulled out of his driveway and took one last look at his little rented house. He wouldn't be back for nearly five months.
Merging onto the interstate he popped a tape into the cassette player and classical music filled the car. "I guess I'll go get Rin first." he said, looking at a map of the highway as he drove. He wasn't a big fan of driving on these kinds of roads, preferring the solitude that back roads provided.

Rin tossed and turned in her bed as the obnoxious buzzing of her alarm clock wouldn't stop no matter how badly she wished for it to stop. After a few minutes of trying to drown it out with a pillow shoved on her head, she turned and slammed her hand onto the clock, turning the alarm off. She rolled up, sitting up in bed and rubbing her forehead as she looked at the clock. "Why did I wake up at this time again?" Rin thought to herself as she looked around her room as if expecting there to be a sign, or note telling her why.
She reluctantly stood and then paused, "Ah! I remember! Going away for the winter! Man am I excited! A winter with everyone..." She smiled and then hummed an 'exciting' 'happy' tune as she got ready for the day. When she was ready, fresh and clean, she went to the kitchen and turned to her pre-packed bags. She had packed them the night before and set them on her kitchen counter. She squealed and said to herself, "Man I am so excited!!!" She then prepared herself some coffee in a thermos, and grabbed a muffin from the cabinet.
She looked down at her watch and tapped her foot anxiously, "Now, just to wait for Bastian. Damn that sexy b***h!! Where is he?" She was being ridiculous, expecting him to be there when she woke up, but anyone that's anxious always wants things quickly.

Bastian lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply as he drove down the highway, keeping time to Beethoven's 9th on the steering wheel. After what seemed like ages he saw the sign he was looking for and got off at the next exit. He navigated through Rin's neighborhood with ease and pulled into her driveway a few minutes later, honking his horn a few times to make sure she was awake.
((If no one else takes it, may I have the last friend slot?))

((Well, we have 2 available, so it wouldn't be the last one if you took one, unless your saying when there's one left, you want it. We need two more guys really, make it even...or at least more than one guy, lol. If I don't get two more for a day or two, I'll let you have another, and I'll take another if there's two still open.))
Rin smiled as she jumped off of the counter, grabbed her three bags, and kept her coffee in hand as she exited the house. Waving awkwardly at her friend in his VW bus. She always loved the buses. She made her way to the back of the bus, and set her bags on the ground, and her coffee too, as she waited for him to unlock the trunk. She smiled as she just thought about it, it was going to be fun, different, interesting. With all of the friends, it'd be great, and Bastian there, that made it fantastic! Cass though, tended to be annoying though, but she could get over it.

Cassie yawned and rolled around in her bed. The alarm had been going off for about ten minutes now she just couldn't make herself get up. Finally her roommate walked inside her room and slamed the alarm off looking at Cass angrily. The girl rubbed her eyes and slowly looked up at her, "Oh...good morning David..." She mumbled and laid back down closing her eyes. The angry roommate looked at Cassie for a few more minutes and growled. He pulled her covers off of the bed and slipped the pillow from under her walking out the room. Cassie perked up and grumbled a bit knowing it was time to go. She slowly slid out of the covers and stretched looking around the fairly light room. The girl looked down at her already packed bags and her outfit laid out since last night. She sighed grabbing the outfit and headed into the shower. Once Cass was washed up and dressed the girl grabbed her luggage and walked into the kitchen grabbing two donuts and some hot chocolate. The still tired girl walked out of the apartment and outside where she laid on the grass using her bag as a pillow and tried to sleep before Sebass, Rin and Harpy arrived

Bastian got out of the car and unlocked the trunk, then grabbed Rin's bags and tossed them into the trunk effortlessly, careful of his cello. For someone so thin he was actually quite strong. He adjusted his glasses and flashed her his nice guy smile before getting back in the car and unlocking the passenger door for her. "We've got to go get Cass next." he said, a sigh escaping him. He loved Cass, she was a great friend, but it was way too early for her silly jokes, and he wasn't exactly fond of being called Seabass. (Deep down he found it to be pretty endearing but you wouldn't ever hear that from him.)

Harper panted heavily, biting her bottom lip as she pushed herself further down the sidewalk. She grunted and pushed her legs to move, enjoying the feel of her muscles flexing. She smiled lightly and tuned into the sound of the music flowing from her iPod rather than the sound of her ragged breathing.
She'd been running for nearly two miles, and she was more than worn out. Exhausted, could be the correct terminology. The deep red stray strands of hair and some of her side bangs were plastered to her face. Running in the morning was a ritual for Harper. Your body is your temple, so keep it healthy. Her golden eyes danced as they took in Harper's surroundings. Only three minutes from the house... she thought to herself excitedly, for she was more than ready to get home and shower.
Once Harper entered her house, she slammed the door behind her and ran to the bathroom, stripping off her clothes once she was in there. She let her hair fall out of her pony tail and turned the hot water on. After about thirty minutes of showering, she got out and brushed her teeth. She blow dried her hair and brushed it out, straightening it. Normally she wore it in it's natural waves and curls, but wearing it straight today seemed appropriate.
Harper pulled on a pair of tight light blue skinny jeans with large holes in the knees and a few in the thighs, topping off the outfit with a black and teal striped silky camisole. She slipped her silver metallic converse on that she'd looked all over the state for, and then commenced to applying her makeup.
Once the red head was finished, she grabbed her suitcase and then looped her large backpack over her shoulders, walking towards the door. She glanced back at her younger brother [whom she was rooming with] in his bedroom and sighed. She dropped her bags and ran to his room, shaking him and hitting him with a pillow until he woke up. She sloppily kissed his cheek and rubbed his hair like a dog before telling him bye and that she'd miss him.
Harper went back to her bags and moved outside, locking the door behind her and sitting on the porch. She rested her chin on her palms and sighed. "Now for the wait," she murmured out loud, closing her eyes to the sun.

Rin was anxious when Sebatian just tossed her bags into the trunk, she didn't want any of her belongings to be damaged. Rin shook her head, and sighed in relief, not hearing anything break. She bent over and picked up her coffee, took a sip and then made her way to the passenger side, and entered the bus. She took her seat, leaned back, getting comfortable as she buckled up. Not that she didn't trust Bastian's driving skills, she just never knew about the other drivers of the world.
Rin looked to Bastian as he mentioned picking Cassie up next, she smiled and sighed, "Ah, Cassie....Yes...." She added a forced laugh, as if trying to look on the brighter side of this, but, maybe Cassie was a lot calmer in the morning, when she was tired, that is. Then, they were going to pick up Harper as well....she teased as well...Maybe she would be nicer in the morning, or, in the car.

Bastian thought for a minute, looking at his map of Colorado that was covered in long, slanted handwriting and circles in red pen. "Hmm, if we go this way we can pick up Harper and then be at Cassie's in another twenty."
As he drove he glanced over at Rin through his peripheral vision. "So...are you excited?" he asked, blushing slightly. He'd always had a bit of a crush on her, and the thought of spending an entire winter with her made a certain part of his anatomy throb with pleasure. (Wow that wasn't creepy at all.)

Cass mumbled to herself a bit in the cold, dead grass. It took her a few minutes to realize it was the middle of winter. She sat up on the ground and shivered looking around for Seabass and Rin. She realized that they still weren't there and laughed at herself for a second. Cass looked at her bags and shivered once more but didn't feel like getting a coat. The girl stood from the ground and yawned taking a sip of her chocolate and grabbed her bag. She walked over to the edge of the street and settled on the curb continuing to drink the hot coco. Cass was not one for coats...or anything else that would keep her from being sick, she just didn't see the point. Everyone get's sick right? The girl played with the grass for a while still feeling tired and waited, "Where are they...I'm bored out of my...my...what ever it's called." She mumbled not able to come up with the words due to her lack of rest and coat.
