Soft padding steps trudged along in the snow. The ground was covered in a light drizzle from the night before. Elise sniffed the air and breathed in the crisp, fresh scent. With a smile on her face, she made her way toward her friend's home. "Zavia? Girl where have you gotten to?" she called out, a soft but confident tone.
Zavia ran the length from one ice cave to her own home. She was shocked at what she had found this morning. Exploring along by herself minding her own business, and the next thing she knew she'd stumbled upon a little egg, nestled in a safe, warm nest.

Eventide slept... and more importantly, she dreamed... She dreamed of the world... She wondered what it was like... The world... There was no way to tell at this stage of Eventide's life, since at the moment her world consisted of the smooth insides of her eggshell...
Eventide wanted to see the world... She wanted to see it very much...
She hoped that someone would hatch her soon.

Catching her breath, she found Elise waiting outside her cave. "There's an egg. . . it's alone. . . and needs. . . to be hatched," Zavia panted and taking a deep breath, she sounded more like herself and continued. "Thank goodness I found you, please come with me. Hurry," and she was off leading the way, having no idea if Elise would even follow.
Elise made out her friend's words and nodded. She was a bit shocked that another egg had been found and needed hatching. "I'm coming," Elise said following after Zavia. Both came to an ice cave with a wide opening. As the two padded in, Zavia took a seat to the far right corner. Elise was allowed room to see the nest and the egg. “Oh she’ll grow to be a beautiful northern dragon.”
“She?” Zavia asked confused.
Elise nodded, as she stared at the egg’s smooth surface. It reminded her of a sunset, as she sat down near the egg. “I’ll need your help young one,” she stared at Zavia, as the girl nodded and laid down near the egg as well.
Instantly, the two felt their energy being sucked away slowly, then it increased. Elise smiled as she lied her head on her paws and closed her eyes. “Don’t worry, this is only temporary,” she assure Zavia. The young adult followed suit, closing her eyes and relaxing.

Suddenly Eventide felt a.... change. Or at least she imagined she did...
It was time. Time to hatch. Time to see the world.
Eventide squirmed within her egg, butting her head against it, trying to find a chi nk in the eggshell armor with her claws. Finally she found one; a small chip. She scratched against it with her claws, and finally a small hole appeared. Eventide attempted to put her head against it to peer out at the world, but she couldn't see anything yet...
Eventide continued working at the hole, breaking fragments away steadily until she finally tumbled out onto the cold floor of the ice cave. She looked up curiously at the two dragons laying before her. Were these her parents? Hmm... Maybe not. Not biologically, anyway.
But they had hatched her... As far as Eventide was concerned, they were family.

Elise was the first to look over the little dragon. Managing to sit up slightly, she curled her tail around herself, feeling the cold starting to penetrate her thick coat. It was only because she had used quite a lot of her energy, and was used to it by now. She had a soft, kind smile as she spoke. "Hello there young one. What might your name be?" she nearly cooed. Even though she felt weak, her voice never wavered.
Zavia lifted one eye open and peered at the new baby. She was beautiful, just like her egg had suggested. Smiling, she felt good to have helped hatch the egg. Plus, it was an expierence that came once in a great while. She opened her mouth to say something, but was too weak to form any words.

The little hatchling thought for a moment, trying out the sound of things in her head, before answering.
"Eventide," She smiled, curling her tail around herself. "And... What are your names? How did you come to find my egg? I don't think you're my real parents, but..."

Elise nodded then looked in Zavia's direction. "Eventide, I'm Elise and my friend over there is Zavia. She found your egg, while exploring I'm guessing. She's not one to stay put for long," she smiled weakly. She was going to continue on, but couldn't. Instead she nodded in Zavia's direction to continue.
Zavia took a deep breath. "We're not your real parents, and yes I found your egg while I was roaming around. I didn't want you to be kept couped up in your egg forever, I know how that once was. She hatched me, I too don't know my real parents," she paused feeling some energy come back. Zavia stretched, feeling stiff. "It must be new to you, all of this around you. There sure is quite a lot to discover," she said with a smile that reached her eyes.

Eventide nodded with a smile, absorbing the names and relations. "Yes, it is," she grinned, and took her first steps, looking around in wonder. Her hatching place was a beautiful ice cave. A blue sheen glimmered on the stalactites and stalagmites of frozen ice water. The floor of the cave was slick under Eventide's paws, and a chill was in the air, though Eventide found that she barely noticed it thanks to her fur... She rather enjoyed the cool sensation.
It was a beautiful place to hatch. It exceeded her expectations...
But with the smooth, glimmering walls reaching up over her head and enclosing her... Eventide found it to be... simply a larger eggshell.
She needed to see the outside world... The world that she'd dreamed of for so long...
Eventide toddled forward as most hatchlings do, exploring. She paused as she reached Elise and Zalia, gave them a grateful nod, and continued on to the mouth of the cave to peer outside.
She tipped her head to the side in confusion. It was... dim. She could barely see anything... It was either very early morning or very early nighttime, Eventide realized in understanding. In the distance, vivid pinks and purples reached for the sky... It was a dazzling sunrise, the different colors at their brightest, with the air washed clear due to a recent cleansing rain.
"Beautiful," Eventide declared, eyes shining. She turned and grinned at Elise and Zavia, unable to contain her happiness, but... not quite sure how to express it either. She wiggled with delight. "Could you please tell me... Is it morning, or evening?"
((It is early morning right? Based on your first post, that's what I figured... xd ))

((Yes it is xD))
"Is it morning," Zavia said as she sat up and stretched. She was exhausted still, but felt better than she had a few moments ago. "If you want we can go outside and venture around a bit," she gave wry smile and glanced around for the first time. The cave was wonderous to the curious eye, but it was too smooth and blue for her taste. After looking around, she brought her attention back to Eventide.
Elise watched the two. Eventide was an excited little thing and had so much energy about her.

"Morning," Eventide repeated contentedly, eyes shining with wonder. It was amazing... More amazing than she'd ever imagined... Eventide couldn't wait until nighttime; it was sure to be even more amazing...
"Can we? Really?!" Eventide bounced in place excitedly, enthralled by the idea of going out into the world... There was so much that she wanted to see... "Let's go!"
She hurried outside the cave, hopping from stone to stone on the uneven ground. Some of the rocks were slick with the frozen morning dew, and all of a sudden, Eventide found herself slipping...

Zavia chuckled at her eagerness. "Yes we can," she said getting up. Her legs felt stiff still even after she stretched. "Be careful so you don't end up jumping into a sink hole!" Zavia called after Eventide. She exited the cave just in time to see the baby dragon slip on one of the slick rocks. She ran to catch Eventide, and got there just in time as she dove to the ground. Zavia hoped Eventide would end up landing on her back, rather than the ground. Anywhere else it was soft and covered with snow, but near the rocks were small, jagged stones that could give a dragon a nasty cut.
Elise took slow strides out of the cave. The light blinded her for a moment, as she blinked the brightness away. She was shocked at what she came to find, as she watched Zavia dive to catch Eventide. A small smile touched her lips, that lit up her eyes. Elise stood back and out of the way, as she layed down in a soft pile of snow.

Eventide landed with a soft 'thump' on Zavia's back. She blinked in surprise, then giggled.
"Thanks," she smiled, crawling off of the older dragon, onto the ground, "I guess I should be more careful..."
After all, I've just come into the world. To be sent out of it so soon would... not be good. Eventide thought to herself with chagrin. She examined the rock she'd fallen from... At a second glance, it really hadn't been life threatening... At the very least, I don't want to get injured and have to wait to go exploring...

"It's okay. Just watch the rocks, sometimes they can be tricky," Zavia smiled warily. "Oh and you want to watch where you walk in the snow, not all of the ground is stable. Some snow piles may be sink holes. When I was little, I got myself stuck in one for about half a day," she chuckled and shook her head at the memory. "They're not easy to climb your way out of."
Elise stood up and took a couple of steps toward the two, "So Eventide, you want to go exploring. What do you want to see next?"

Eventide stared with eyes wide at Zavia. Stuck in a sink hole? For half a day?! Her new family members were very experienced....
She turned to look at Elise. "The bottom of a sink hole," she said seriously. Then grinned. "Um... Uh..." Eventide glanced around, looking for something to see... She gave a small gasp of excitement. "That! I want to see that!" She scurried off after whatever her young eyes had spotted in the underbrush...

(Sorry I've been gone. I was on family trip)
Zavia gave a toothy grin, "Yup. It sure was fun though. You know when you get older I'll take you on a hike to the most beautiful cave. It's walls are made from crystals. It takes a two day trip."
Elise glanced around as her eyes followed Eventide's path. She couldn't quite make out what she was going to inspect but figured it had to be interesting.
