Welcome to Vergil and Reuben's journal! This is used primarily for solo RPs, keeping track of past RPs with other owners, and recording crazy background information all in once place so it doesn't get weird. Since Cinq is the one who uses this thing most often, please read these over before posting. <3

Vergil's a bit of a daydreamer who doesn't always think about the consequences of his actions. He often has the best of intentions, though the outcomes don't always reflect that. That being said, he does tend to get himself into some interesting scrapes. xD
{Behind the Name}
Publius Vergilius Maro was a Roman poet, most famous for his work on The Aeneid, a twelve-book epic about the hero Aeneas. Aeneas was expelled from his home in Troy by the Greeks, and wandered from country to country trying to find the land that was destined to be Rome. Vergil, at his death, had not finished The Aeneid and in his will asked that his manuscript be burnt. At the intervention of the emperor, a friend, the books were saved.
Vergil is sometimes called the greatest poet of all time because of his ability to express the sound of what he was talking about through the texture of the words he was using. In The Aeneid, he begins by saying:
arma virumque cano :: I sing of arms and of a man
His use of the word "sing" has led many other poets to call themselves "singers," as well. He makes a cameo in Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy, as Dante's guide through the Inferno and Purgatory.

:: Reuben: a historian's history ::
Reuben was the second son born to his parents, who divorced while he was in his teens. He is the first one to go to college in his family; his father worked at a factory and his mother was a typist. His older brother is involved with the armed forces, and often Reuben will send him texts, sometimes during class time. Reuben went to college on a scholarship, and has been trying to pay back his graduate student loans via teaching at a high school.
Initially, he turned to teaching because he was down on his luck. He had married Charlotte and adopted Chris (who was a baby at the time), and needed something to support his own family. The high school disapproved of his divorce, but thanks to an appeal from the parents of his students, Reuben was able to keep his job.
His relationship with Charlotte has been a tumultuous one. Looking back on it, Reuben knows he married too early (he'd met Charlotte his senior year of college and married her soon after), and that he made a rash decision in doing so. Chris isn't his biological son, rather his father is the man Charlotte is currently married to. Reuben is quite fond of Chris, and tries to see him as much as he can.
Currently, Reuben's life is pretty stable. His loves teaching, and it also pays the rent. He's a responsible spender, and he secretly wants to get a Ph. D. in History when he's paid back enough of his loans. Things, for the most part, were looking up. That is, until he found a mysterious egg...

A record of Vergil's contact and relations with other songbirds and their owners. Pictures beside the names show the stages at which Vergil has had contact with other songbirds. Basically, the more pictures there are under a name, the longer Vergil has known them. ;D

 Vergil and Stas became fast friends through a chance encounter in the supermarket. Pledging to eat carrots together in order to grow taller than their fathers, the two promise to conqueror their mutually disliked vegetable. Now the two are both attending Sunny-Side Up Pre-K together and their fathers have worked out carpooling arrangements as well.

 Wren and Vergil met while Reuben and Rinali were perusing a flea market. Reuben was looking for furniture for Vergil's room. There appeared to be a strange kind of resonance between the two, so they stuck together during their outing, checking out different kinds of booths and stalls with their parents.

+ Reuben's Flat
A small, cozy studio apartment. It's not too cramped in there for Reuben, but it's a little snug with the addition of Vergil. There's not too much storage space, but it does have a loft, where Reuben's bed is currently.
The flat also has a TV, a sofa, and a fairly big wooden table at which Reuben pays bills, grades papers, and tries to get his life sorted out at, usually all at the same time. It's hardly ever bare, and papers dominate its surface.
+Sunnyside-Up Preschool
Vergil's preschool. Mrs. Pemberley is the head instructor there, aided by her teacher-in-training, Becky. The kids make fun crafts during the day, practice their printing and generally learn how to interact with each other. Located more toward the outskirts of the city, it seems to be nestled into the area and can be a little hard to find.
