I was quite astounded today to discover that this weekend there will be a steampunk convention in Atlanta. (I suppose that reveals how little I've investigated my local scene.) Does anyone else plan to go?

had i known about it sooner i would have joined in the revelry, alas the last thing near steampunkish that i had seen down in atlanta was a musical quartet. I believe the extraordinary contraptions, were their name and they were actually a very well received band.

Haha, You guys need to get on it! There's actually a pretty lively, close-knit steampunk community in the Atlanta-metro Area. We call it Terminus, as a throw-back to the older name of the city.

If you want to keep up to date, I recommend this site: http://steampunk.ning.com/

And just join the TerminuSteam group. You'll be way better informed.

Getting back to the OP, I will be going to Steamfest.

Sadly my annual pilgrimage North to visit my maternal family has overlapped with steamfest. I guess I'm just glad I didn't pre-register.

It was freaking amazing, just for the record. Had an absolute blast; But then again, thats usually what happens around those lot. wink

Oh! But if you are curious, july 17th, the next mechanical Masquerade is being held in Avondale Estates. I suggest lookin it up!
