We all know that there are different types/kinds of nocturnal creatures that are either figments of our imagination or just mysteries that remain to be proven.. I wanted to open up this thread to those who could share something about the scene in your own country.
In the Philippines, we have our own demons/vampires/devils like:
TIANAK
This is supposedly the restless soul of an infant that was aborted or died before it was christened. It would be heard crying in the night.. and those who would be lured by its wailing will fall prey to it.
MANANAGGAL
This is supposedly our vampire here since it searches for its prey by splitting its body in half and keeps the lower half of its body well hidden. It feeds on the blood of fetuses while they are still inside the pregnant mother by roosting on top of roofs and seeking a small hole just above the unsuspecting mother. Then, once the mother falls asleep, its tongue (which can be as thin as a thread) slides down from the hole in the roof to penetrate the pregnant woman's belly so it can suck the baby's blood.
KAPRE
Most likely this will be our version of Bigfoot. He supposedly stays on top of big trees and smokes a large cigar. He's covered with hair all over and is not that dangerous as the tiyanak or the mananaggal although he is said to be fond of 'courting' women and being 'possessive' when the woman they are courting are being courted by mortal men. That is when they get nasty and try to scare away the menfolk. And they sometimes even kidnap the women they supposedly fall in love with...
TIKBALANG
This creature is half horse, half man. It's a very nasty thing since it makes travellers lose their way in remote areas.. sometimes, never to be seen again. It supposedly also has the power to morph itself into the form of someone familiar to one it wants to lure just so it would be followed.. It also fancies women..

On a personal note, I was nearly prey to such creatures..
Our family went to Cavite when I was still a much troubled teenager. I often would walk along the beach alone.. and then, one night, I saw my boyfriend near one of the huts we were renting.
Of course, I immediately dressed up, wanting to greet him for coming all this way just to visit me. My sister noticed this and asked me where I was going. I pointed out towards the hut.. she saw NOTHING! Yet in my eyes, I was seeing my bf there in the flesh.
She then called her husband, a provinciano (one who was raised in the provinces.. and well versed about stuffs pertaining the supernatural) who then prevented me from going down our cottage. He felt my hands and feet (there were icy cold) yet my whole body was hot.
He tried to look at something in my hands.. matching certain lines I think and then said to my family, "Wag nyo sya pababain.. nagagalaw ito ng maligno.. ipa-tawas natin to agad bukas!" (Don't let her go anywhere.. she's being lured by a malignant spirit.. we'll have her checked by an 'arbularyo' witch doctor tomorrow. They were creeped out the whole night since I was insistent and pointing out to nothing.. even through the cracks of bamboo, I was seeing 'him' and pointing 'him' out.. but my family just didn't see anything at all..
We went to the witch doctor first thing in the morning.. and what did he see in the pagtatawas? A tikbalang! I never believed in those things before till I saw the image in the candle with my own eyes! We did the "remedy" the "doctor" recommended. Ever since that day, I never went out alone when we're in the province. eek crying eek

I believe in Demons and Devils, but I'm not so sure about Vampires. It's possible that there are bloodsuckers out there, but not like the exaggerated ones like Count Dracula or something. ninja

so far, from what I have learned, there are "modern day vampires" out there... they are classified as:
- Sanguines (one who feeds on blood)
- Psychic (one who feeds on energy)

does anybody else here have any "close encounters" with the supernatural? like seeing dark shadowy figures at the corner of your eyes? or maybe even feeling a hand brush against your hair when nobody is actually there?

otherkin-someone with an inhuman soul.e.g.-werewolves,ect.
vampires-they are classified as above, but the psi vamp has alot of classifications.
elemental-feed off elements and nature
sexual-feed off sexual energy
astral-feed off astral plane
magickal-feed off magick energies
empathic-feed off emotions
demons- I have had personal experiences
ghosts-I have had personal experiences with them too
I will only give more information about vampires if asked. I can't remeber anything else right off the top of my head.

i was 8 i was having truble sleeping ,i remember watching my dogs eyes half open and she was shaking uncontrollably. i shook her sacred and she opend her eyes then grunted ,she fell asleep then i started closing my eyes but spotted somthing moveing in my room i was little so my first reaction was to hide under the covers.i was starting to fall asleep and i felt somthing cold on my sholder then started shaking like my dog had .I started to get scared and tryed to turn over ,i ended up to turn around but i saw nothing there for a year i would sleep with the dog in my room when i saw a shadow i kept watching instead hide sometimes i didn't dare to fall asleep i just stood up in bed , it never happend again(thats why i was afraid of the dark for a while, but soon i got over it still creeps me out though)
One day i slept upstairs(in the attic) with my grand parents i was 7 and thought nothing could hurt me as long as they where there. in the middle of the night i heard nosies(the house was 80 at the time so it was just natural for the floor to make nosies)i turned to the side and stared out the window ,closed my eyes for a second or 2 then when i opend them i saw a shadow perfactly shaped as a person (a man i think)i was scared and cryed my grandparents where sleeping on the other side of the bed and asked why was i crying it disapperd anyway. the next day i over heard my grandmother speeking in spanish(she thought i wouldn't understand )she was talking about a family that had the house first ,a dentist with a sick wife who spent all her time in the attic sleeping ,one day she was found dead
everyday her daughter would cry in a chair next to the window soon her father had a heart atack in his office . i was scared for a while the lights whent out one day when i was 10 i walked to the basement and found a power box that had office written on it, i pushed a button in it ran upstairs and found my room with the lights on .
i don't have that as my room anymore thank goodness i have a other room its bigger and much colder but i still like it .that room has bad stories to but i don't seem to be as scared. the fact is my house has a bad history as lovely as it is but no matter wat happens i just dont want to sell it . strange it has so much pain but i can't just give it away ,to much good memories in it as well
