Physical Description: Ollen is tall and muscular, years of working in her craft have defined her body. She lacks feminine curves, and has little to no breasts. She keeps her mousy brown hair cropped short (She hates when it whips in the wind), her eyes are brown and small. If looking at her from the side one could logically come to the conclusion that she is male, but looking at her head on she has a feminine set to her cheekbones, and something in her smile shows to be female. Growing up on Ista she wears light layers to keep out the heat, she loves the color green and tries to incorporate that into her wardrobe. She always wears a piece of rope around her wrist, just in case it could be helpful.
Personality:
A few words that sum her up: Hard working, determined, friendly, having great conviction.

Ollen’s favorite time out to sea is during a storm when everyone has to rush to prove themselves and stay alive. This thought moves to her normal life on land; live with all your abilities, without conviction, fight for survival, and be proud you’re doing it. She thinks that everyone has the right to a wonderful life from drudge to Weyrwoman.

Ollen has a thick skin, something she needed to develop in order to be out to sea with men that were not necessarily kind to her. She can come off as brash or rude when she thinks she is being insulted. It takes some time for her to warm up, but once she does she’ll talk her new found friend’s ear off.

Socially Ollen does not have the makings of a Captain, but perhaps a pretty hardy first mate, she does well at making decisions, but would prefer having someone above her to call the real shots. This applies to any setting, she prefers a friend who is more dominant than her who calls the shots and she will follow them with great loyalty. All in all Ollen is dependable and sturdy.

Her sexual preference towards women is a hindrance in her current trade; there are not many other female Seacrafters. She is not afraid to have her preference known and is proud of who she is (going back to her feelings that live as who you are and no one else), although she has never actually had a “girlfriend” but she knows she is definitely attracted to curvy feminine women.

Ollen is very masculine and does not understand being pretty or girly. When it comes to women she is pretty dense, and doesn't generally pick up on subtle hints. Men flirting with her causes her to instantly throw up her guard and get angry.

Ollen fits right in, in a gather, she gets drunk and sings loudly with the best of them. Ollen loves to tell stories of what she has seen out at sea, including "shipfish," or the largest fish she has ever caught.

What drove her in her craft: Unlike many people within the Seacrafting trade she is not very interested in catching fish as she is in building ships. She’s hoping to walk the tables and become a ShipWright, designing ships of all sorts.

What drives her now: Ollen wants to make her aunt and uncle happy, she has gone the route of sailor for her father's sake and enjoyed it very much. But, now is the time to honor what she feels is right, and right now being on Ista feels right.

History: Ollen was fostered by her aunt and uncle on Ista, her father was a journeymen in the seacraft and her mother died on the trip to Ista. When Ollen reached the age of ten she begged and pleaded to be allowed to go to Tillek and learn the Seacraft, reluctantly her fosters allowed her to go, they had never conceived and considered Ollen their own.

Being female in the seacraft has not been easy for Ollen, and it has taken a lot of time to convince the male dominated crafters that she can do more than gut and eat fish. Three years after entering the hall in Tillek, Ollen was finally allowed on a ship. From the age thirteen to seventeen she spent time practicing and training aboard any ship that would take her, learning her trade. Being the only female on a ship sometimes was not an easy life, she got a lot of the brunt of crude jokes and lewd gestures, but for the most part she was protected from some of the rougher crowd by a friend or two of her father’s.

Her uncle fell ill soon after she turned seventeen and she has spent the last year home with him and her aunt. They are both aging and she is not sure whether to peruse her craft, sure that she will soon walk to tables, or to stay on Ista island and do all she can for them. Unsure of what the future holds Ollen is currently residing in Ista Hold, and debating the future. They urge her to leave and pursue something she would love.
