ooc|| Jesenya's Rites RP. Kai and Kir~ Posting order: Azi, Jesenya, Sevati, Kairav

Today was it. Today was the day - the day her baby became an adult. Officially, by the Bahari'mtoto standards - just the way she'd wanted it to happen. Azi could feel her heart swelling in her chest, pride already bursting out of her despite the fact that it hadn't happened yet. But it was going to, and it'd show, once and for all, that her baby was all grown up. That she, Azriell'Kyupe, had actually done alright. Raising six cubs had been hard - heck, it had been a roller-coaster alright - but standing here, now, she just knew. It was worth every minute.
A warm, reassuring smile rested on her face - a mother's smile, to make sure her daughter knew everything was going to be alright. Because it was. Jesenya was going to become the beautiful, intelligent, amazing adult Azi knew she'd always become. And she was going to get recognition for it too, by performing the Bahari'mtoto Rites ceremony. Something Azi never got to do - or not at adolescence, anyone. When she'd joined, she had. But it wasn't the same. Not quite.
But that didn't matter. Nothing was going to ruin her little girl's special day.

Nervous all the way down to her toes, Jesenya didn't want to fail her mother and the pride. It was in this place that so many things had happened, so many good things. The last thing she wanted was to see her mother's face all full of disappointment if she should not preform the task at hand. But lo and behold, her mother had ran into another member who had a son her age that had gone through the rites. So at the very least, they had met and he even gave her some few pointers.
With her mother's reassuring smile she reached forth to touch her mother's cheek with her nose. "Thank you, Mom." She'd always be her mother's daughter through and through.
Her gaze flickered uncertain, would Kairav and his mother show up? She had invited them, afterall, it was the least she could do as a payment for the help she received. And...it was a chance to become better friends with someone in the pride.

Today was the day, today she'd get to see if her son was successful in his teachings with Jesenya. They had met some moons ago and just as Sevati had predicted to Azi, their two cubs had gotten along very well. Complimenting each other, it wouldn't take long...to see little cubs running around. And the very thought made her smile.
But, shifting her thoughts to the task at hand, she glanced at her son who was bound as tight as could be. A soft giggle escaped from her as she nudged him, "Don't be so nervous, you'll just make her even more nervous on her big day!" Quietly she added, "Let's not be late." As she headed towards the shore to make her way to Azi's side.

There were so many thoughts going through his head, Kairav remembered his big day. Oh how nerve-racking it was! His mother's nudge broke his trail of thought as he bound forward, "I know, I can't help it. This must be what you felt like when we all had to the rites." He didn't know how his parents could sit there all nice and calm while they did their rites. But he knew his mother was right, it wouldn't do Jesenya any good if anyone was nervous, least of all, him since he gave her pointers!
As the two of them made it towards the shore, he spotted the pair. With a small smile he took a glance at the ocean, the tide was calm, which was a good sign for Jesenya. He called out, "Hello!"

Azi smiled, nuzzling her daughter briefly as a sign of affection, and reassurance. Jesenya was going to do great, and she knew it in her heart. She just ahd to get that message across to her daughter, and did so with a fond lick to her cheek, and a nudge to her shoulder to move her forwards. "You'll do fine, love. And I'll be proud of you whatever happens - never forget that."
She gave a warm smile, before her gaze jerked backwards as she heard a call, glancing behind her to see two familiar faces. her smile spread even wider - ah, perfect! They had come. A gentle, somewhat knowing smile was flashed to Sevati, followed by a more friendly one to the young lion, as she inclined her head in greeting. "You made it! I can't tell you how grateful we are."
She stepped forwards to meet the pair, greeting them briefly before turning to watch Jesenya with the same reassuring smile. "Jesenya, honey? ...I think it's time."

At the sight of the two lions coming to the shore Jesenya felt her heart swell. It was so sweet of them to be here for her big day. She had hoped that her mother wouldn't mind the two additions but seeing the way her mother and Kairav's mother got along, she didn't have to worry. She called out, "Hi!" And then she dipped her head towards them gratefully, "Thank you both for coming...I hope I haven't inconvienenced you any."
And then to her mother she nodded. It was now or never! With all the help she got the past few days, she said a silent prayer to the ocean that it would accept her as it had did to her mother before she took her first steps towards the water.

She gave the younger lioness a wide, encouraging smile, "You will do wonderful Jesenya, just don't let your nerves get to you. Good luck!" She bade the lioness good luck, not that she would need it as she was certain that Jesenya would do fine.
As she made her way to Azi's side she smiled widely, "I wouldn't have missed it for the world!" She spoke sincerly, "Kairav's been so anxious you would have thought he was doing the rites all over again!" She chuckled softly before her gaze shifted back towards her son and then Jesenya.

As he was greeted by both Jesenya and her mother, Kairav's tail flicked pleasantly. He went over to Jesenya before she started to head on out to the water. "The water's calm, a good sign for you. Just remember we're all here for you." He told her softly before he settled back on the shoreline away from the water.
To Azi, "We wouldn't have missed it, Mom was taking her sweet time getting up!" He teased him mother playfully with a wink. His mother had a lot on her paws, with a full litter to care for.

This was it - there she went. Azi watched as her daughter took her first few, uneasy steps into the water, silent willing her on. The hardest part was yet to come, yet she was already fit to burst with the amount of pride swelling in her. What had she ever done to deserve such a wonderful family, and a beautiful daughter?
She smiled warmly to Sevati and Kairav, inclining her head once more as a polite greeting to the male, before turning to her friend with a slightly more cheeky grin. "I'm glad to hear so! And aww, that's sweet - I hear Jesenya and Kairav are getting on very well?" she asked, a certain knowing tone in her voice that suggested she was asking more than her words let on.

It was a good thing for her that the water was as calm as it was today. A good sign, she reminded herself. She wasn't the best of swimmers as Kairav and his family were, having never grown up around water but she tried her hardest in their lessons. The water was cool, not at all hot yet since summer hasn't come yet in full swing.
She could hear them all talking on the beach, but with each step their words were being covered by the sounds of the ocean. The ocean, it was a spectacular thing, nothing she could have ever dreamed of when her mother spoke so highly of the place. But here she was, walking as calmly as she could into the water.
It didn't take her long before she felt the waves grow stronger around her as the water was slowly reaching her chest and soon enough, her shoulders. The hardest thing for her was to remember to breath. Now she knew why Kairav drilled that into her so firmly. At a time like this, she could lose herself in the panic and forget all common sense.
She took a few deep breaths as she felt the water rising up against her. It wouldn't be long that it'd come to her head and she'd be swimming.

Eyes flickered slightly to Jesenya, very proud of how the young lioness was handling herself. Her son had definitely not been that calm on his go. Keeping one eye on the young lioness should something happen, as much as she didn't like to think that, it is best to be prepared for all kinds of situations, and the other eye on Azi.
With a knowing smile to the other lioness she replied, "From what I hear, things are going very well. I must tell you, I've never seen Kairav so excited before in his life. His face was glowing when he came back to the den and told me about his day with Jesenya."

While his mother and Jesenya's mother spoke not too far from where he was, he kept most of his attention on Jesenya. Apparently he was a good teacher afterall! She didn't seem to be fairing poorly, so all the time they spent wasn't for nothing. And even then, he got to know someone around his age in the pride. As there weren't that many other lions in the pride around his age, they were either older or younger than he was.
As the tide was rising against Jesenya he could feel his breath rise in his throat. Soon, she'd be tested against the ocean as she didn't have much footing left to hold on to.

"Oh, Jesenya was the same," Azi giggled, leaning in a little closer to her friend to ensure Kairav couldn't hear, "I do believe we may be meeting in another ceremony soon. And Kairav's such a nice boy - I'm so pleased!"
Her words were soon halted, however, as her attention turned fully to her daughter, watching her intently. Her maw moved, forming silent words to prayer to help her daughter through the experience, willing her to do her best. To keep breathing was the most important thing - but Jesenya seemed to be doing alright with that. But soon the water would rise too high for her to remain on the sea floor - she'd be forced to swim. Azi herself had found that the toughest part, and just hoped her daughter had inherited the strength she herself had used to get through it.

With a few more deep breaths before the feeling of total control was lost from her. Her paws no longer touched the ground as the waves were tugging and pulling at her. The feeling was hard to describe as she felt fear flash through her with the loss of her footing. But then she remember that she couldn't drown, not with all the eyes watching her!
She pushed her fear away as she kicked her paws out to keep her floating. She was doing it, she was actually swimming in the deep water! Her eyes gazed over her scenery as all she saw was teal-blue water as far as she could see. It was a sight she'd never forget, something the ocean had let her see...had accepted her as one it's own. She felt so proud she could feel the tears start to swell up and threaten to fall.

As she leaned closer to Azi, "Ravi and I shall be anticipating that ceremony for sure. Our very first!" And to someone she adored, there was no better lioness in the world that she would want for her son than Jesenya. And besides, Azi was becoming such a good friend on top of that!
As she put both eyes out at Jesenya she felt her breath hitch slightly before her face lit up. The younger lioness had done it! She could feel her eyes start to water, it always would with this ceremony as their cubs were becoming adults! Softly she told Azi, "She did it. You can call her back now." She'd let Azi have the first, happy call to her daughter before she and her son joined in.
