Mmk. This has been bugging me for quite sometime. Since Geneon now has the rights to Saiyuki Reloaded and Saiyuki Gunlock, I was wondering who is going to be in the new English cast.
I'm a dub person for the most part (unless a certain dub stinks, of course), expecially when it came so Gendosamaden Saiyuki (I couldn't stand the script for the subtitles). The dub was much more entertaining for me.
Anime News Network hasn't put out a cast (where I usually go to get anime info) yet so I'm not sure what to expect from this dub. Geneon puts out some decent dubs but I just want to play it safe.

I hear ya. I've been checking all over the place trying to find out who the dub cast will be. At least they got the original cast for Requiem. I guess we'll find out in another month, since that's when Reload is scheduled to come out.

I'm both very curious and hesitant as well. I love the ADV voices, but I'm keeping an open mind for the new voices. I've been looking everywhere as well. Let us know if you find anything, please! *puppy eyes*

They won't. It's been licensed by Geneon. Usually, licensing companies stick to a certain ring of actors. This is expecially the case with Funimation and ADV (ADV seems to be sharing some of their regulars with Funimation). From what I've heard, the original cast wasn't even asked to dub for Reloaded.

Well, we already know that since a different company licensed Reload and Gunlock, they probably won't be using the same VAs. I think someone on this site also talks with Greg Ayres, and they said that Greg told them that the original cast wasn't even asked.

But, the original english cast is there on Requiem, at least.

I've got the VAs for Reloaded!!!!!

Jimmy Benedict as Son Goku (He's a fairly new guy...only one other acting credit)

Lex Lang as Genjo Sanzo (Sano from Kenshin, Lantis from MKR 2)

Steve Cannon as Cho Hakkai (Master Mage Clef from Magic Knights Rayearth)

Tony Oliver as Sha Gojyo (Rick Hunter from Robotech)

Dammit, you beat me.

*Rubs temples* Lex Lang as Sanzo. It just won't be the same.

I suppose Steve Kannon (Kamui from X) won't be so bad for Hakkai.
But, Tony Oliver for Gojyo! What were they thinking!? He usually plays teenage guys and his voice doesn't really come across (to me anyway) as the ladykiller type. In fact, sometimes I find it on the squealy side (that's from listening to his voice in X and GTO, I dunno about others). The guy isn't a bad actor, just a bad choice.
Not sure about the new guy. Since the other dub that he's in won't be released till march (but I have no desire to see the other anime that he's in).
But then again, I've heard voice actors do amazing things with their voices, so maybe I'm jumping the gun. Maybe I'll like it. Why'd you let this happen ADV!?

I was thinking the same thing. I was like "OMG!? Sano from Kenshin is SANZO!!???"

But, I've heard the range of some VAs, and Tony Oliver and Lex Lang have both been around for a while, and have many voice over credits to their names, so while it might be different, it might still be good.

No one can play pissy like David Matranga sad

Based on what he said in the movie commentary, Greg Ayres was pretty dispointed about not playing Goku (didn't know that he was such a Saiyuki fan).
No young wipper snapper can play Goku the way Greg Ayres does.

Indeed, same reaction one of my friends had after I told him.

But I'm probably being closed minded about the whole things so,

Sadly, I have to agree with you. Of course, I've never heard this particular VA, so he might be really good. It was the same thing when they dubbed Get Backers. They used a lot of new VAs, and I was pleasantly surprised and pleased at how well it turned out.

Perhaps. This time one of my friends is going to put down money for an anime series (how about that? My otaku friends download and mooch off of me but don't want to pay money to anime themselves)and he's going to start Reloaded. So, I'll be the moocher this time.

Perhaps Mr. benedict shan't be too bad. We can only hope. At least we have the original japanese cast.

The reason I have my doubts about this guy is becuase Greg Ayres sounded like he was really thrilled about playing Goku. So he a lot of effort into the role. I'm just wondering if the new guy will be able to put his heart into Goku's character as much as Ayres did. But next to ADV, Geneon is a licensing company that I can usually count on for good dubs.

Many of us do, but chances are Geneon is either in the process of finishing or is finished dubbing Reloaded. There really isn't too much we can do about it except hope that the new cast will do a good job.
