Here is the general format for human colonist profiles:

Name: Self-explanatory. Should sound like something that a human would actually name their kid, please.
Gender: there are only two choices here this is not difficult
Age: Bear in mind that your character was accepted onto a colony mission into spaaaaace. Try to keep it between, oh, let's say 10 and 65 or so? If you have a good reason why your character not within that range would be here, just ask.
Occupation: Get creative! Remember, there's a few hundred colonists, and the first shipful was meant to be self-sufficient until more vessels could arrive. The mission needs scientists and security and pilots, but it also needs cooks and construction workers and people who know how to fix a broken pipe.

Physical Description: Words, please. You can include a picture reference, but there must also be words.
Personality: Go on, be detailed. We like reading. Who are you? How are you feeling about the current situation? What are your likes, dislikes, and quirks? We would love to know.
History: Why are you here? What led you to the mission? Who were you before you arrived on Sartnys?

Particular Skills: stuff that doesn't necessarily fall under occupation. Can you juggle? Competitive chess-player? Used to take capoeira lessons? This is where you list it.
Other Stuff: Anything that doesn't fit in the above.

A few notes:

-Once you've been accepted, we'll post your profile in the Human Journals forum for safekeeping.

-Certed aliens do not need to have profiles submitted here. You bought/won it, you can RP it. If you would like, however, you are welcome to make a journal for them in their own forum. Non-certed aliens go under questing.

-Ever since landing, rank is treated very loosely among the colonists. People are naturally more likely to sit up and listen to a security officer than they are to Joe the plumber. However, there is no formal overarching system in place between the disciplines. So it's an IC decision as to how your character perceives the hierarchy, as it were. The only exception to this are rank badges, which are actual items that go in your character's inventory -- those will give you special benefits both IC and OOC, to be revealed when they are formally released.

-No animals on board the ship, with only a few exceptions for work animals, lab animals, etc. Genetic samples and frozen embryos were on board, and some may have been grown by now, but they will be work animals or livestock, not pets. (In regards to capturing and attempting to domesticate the locals, though... Try not to get caught.)

-Bear in mind that if your character has some sort of serious physical or mental condition, you will need a strong IC reason why they were still allowed, or otherwise show us that you can handle the character. Uncontrolled rampant schizophrenia or crippling genetic disorders are right out, sorry.

-Please don't feel like you're bound by shop canon! We're working on a sort of rough history of Earth since 2009, and of course the FAQ section will continue to expand... but if you've got an idea and, for instance, it requires the nation of Luxembourg to still exist, go ahead and assume it does unless we tell you otherwise. Or, y'know, just ask. Never hurts, after all.
