Loki was a busy god. While FEF was busy in the mountains fighting morphs, he took form and wandered the streets of Eyris. More importantly, he wandered the bars, the shops, and in the form of a lady he visited the salons.

And he spread rumors. It was his favorite kind of chaos. The kind of chaos he could watch spread and blossom and see the little grain of truth spread thinner and thinner until it was barely in a little bit of everything.

One rumor was that the Nine Heroes of ancient times had returned to fight a new threat, as prophesied. Nobody had actually made the prophesy, but nobody wanted to admit they'd never heard it, either.

And anyone who had seen Kyros or Teifi was willing to admit that they had known it was an ancient Hero in an instant, ho yes, sir, and that's the livin' truth.

And that battle on the hill? That was Fire Emblem Forever, the beloved guardian guild of Eyris.

Attacking the Nine Heroes.

Dissent was spreading fast. Pitchforks were being dusted off. Purveyors of torches were having a field day. Barricades were being constructed in the streets as the citizens waited. Eyris would give no quarter to those who attacked their legends. Their heroes, the ones that vanquished the Dark God.

Surely, of course, they were back to destroy him again.

Surely.

(Not using two different colors for Ghis and Charice.)

"Captain."

The flap of long Pegasus wings announced Charice's arrival as she descended behind the barricades, watching Ghis order their construction.

"Th-this is... why? Nine heroes? A-a prophesy? It's got to be..."

"SHHHH!"

Ghis' armored hand removed itself from Charice's indignant mouth.

"Charice," Ghis said quietly, "Ah don't know what t' make o' it either. Bu' in case ye have nae noticed..."

He gestured to the citizens behind him.

"Hearin' is believein'."

"But... but...!" Charice wanted so badly to protest. This was idiocy! Had the people forgotten so quickly about Fire Emblem Forever? The Watch hadn't ended the corruption at Easter! Katherine hadn't! And now JUST LIKE THAT, they'd turned on their former heroes!

She took a deep breath (a bit inwardly thankful she wore a breastplate--she'd noticed a look or two from some male villagers making barricades, and sans breastplate, she'd probably get at least a few more) and let out a great sigh.

"Look. Ah'm not askin' yeh t' kill anyone. Yer just around t' keep a lookout, aye?"

"...Yes, Captain."

And Charice took off again into the skies, keeping watch for anyone from FEF.

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!"
"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

A pair of red stiletto boots clanked down the chambers inside the castle, with attitude, followed by the patter of a smaller pair of feet. They continued down a hallway, until they reached door, then turned to face it. The doors then burst open and in walked a fierce looking woman, with a huge black spear on her back, red armor, large bosoms, and a flowing black cape. The head of a young pink haired child peaked out from behind her, curiously. The large-breasted woman placed her hands on her hips and looked out into the room.

"Hey! I'm here to see a uh... "Steely Dan"?" She then mumbled to herself. "..Whoever the hell that f** is." She spoke up again. "I was told to come in today during the festival, so you better not have wasted my time." she looked over and saw a man. "You him?"

Captain Steely Dan Leek was glad Leon had reminded him of his appointment with the wyvern lady. It kept him in the castle, well away from all the rioting. He wasn't a coward, but that didn't mean he wanted a halfbrick to the skull when he was trying to keep the peace, either.

Much easier to keep the peace where the peace already was. Like in the castle. "Aye," said the armored General, making his way toward Vaida and her young charge. His massive zweihander was strapped across his back, in a black leather scabbard. "Yeh mus' be Vaida, 'ey wot? 'Ere about th' openin' for a new Guard cap'n."

Vaida eyed the man up and down, inspecting him thoroughly. At least he didn't LOOK like a p***y, what with the huge weapon on his back and all. Vaida would decide her opinion on him later, in battle. But then he spoke. And she had the HARDEST time freaking understanding what the hell he said. She raised one eyebrow and looked at him oddly, like he was a freak or something. "Uh... yeah, sure. I heard the words guard captain in there, so I guess you're talking about me taking the spot." Vaida lowered her head and looked straight at him, deeply. "Objections?"

Dan caught the look and returned it. He was probably in his mid-forties, but he also looked like he was half-bear and half-asskicker. "Nae, I've nae objections. I'll say yeh're short a few men, though." He stretched, looking around the empty barracks where he had agreed to meet her-- although he had more or less disbanded the Guard, he still maintained his rank as Captain of the Guard until it was passed on. "Like, give'r take, all of'em. Yeh've got a lotta work a'fore yeh, bu' I heard good things 'bout yeh." He fished around in his armor and produced a ring of keys and a uniform badge. "These'd be yers, then. Yeh got a fresh start, so... yeh know, run it 'ow yeh like." He nodded, as one warrior to another, with the understanding that each knew what he or she was doing.

Vaida stared at him somewhat annoyed, when he replied. She had caught maybe half of what he said, at most. She definitely was not good at understanding people with heavy accents. Well, what do you know.. she had a weakness after all. I guess everyone had to have one. "Yeah, I seriously have no idea what the majority of what you're saying is. But as for lacking people.... Tori and I are all I'll really need." She said as she smirked at him. She snatched th things from his hand then turned around, her back facing him. "But if you wanna stick around a while, you're more than happy to. Who knows, I may have questions."

Dan looked up and out the window, then nodded. "Fair 'nough. I'll be glad ta help yeh with anythin'." Nothing he could do about the accent, really. His lieutenant had just had to get used to it. "So, Cap'n, how d'yeh expect tae repel a charge wi' just you an' y'wee dragon an' y'wee lass there?" He pulled a chair away from a table and sat down on it sideways, settling his elbow on his thigh and propping his chin in his hand. The scruffy General ran one thumb along his chin, cocking a brow at Vaida. "Dunnae if'n yeh noticed, but this castle tends tae get hit with the, eh... not-so-natural."

She remained facing away from him. She was able to understand most of what he was saying now, so she was able to respond just fine. "Pheh... they are infuriating, aren't they? Idiotic swine! Believing obvious lies, like that...! Tch!" She paused for a moment. Tori looked up at her, wondering what she was going to say. "We'll leave them for now. They haven't done anything too out of hand. My main concern is what action the watch will take, and what they'll do if they choose to fight against the revolts. They'll probably seek shelter inside the castle, which I guess is fine. And if the citizens attack the castle themselves.... ....Well, then they'll just have to deal with me. And I won't be taking prisoners." She took a step forward, but then stopped suddenly, allowing Tori to bump into her. "As long as you're still here, go tell the remaining common castle guard soldiers to get to their posts if they want to keep breathing. I blasted walked in here without them even noticing! Oh, and keep me posted with any news! " She then set off down the hallway again, to go about her newly achieved duties.

Dan smirked as he stood up, stretching. "Yes'm," he said under his breath as he made his way out to get the twenty or so remaining Guardsmen in shape for their new captain.

She certainly had the attitude and the command. She'd do just fine.

A quick chat was all the former Captain needed to get his former troops doing what they needed to do. (The quick chat notably included the phrase "uberspear" and "rectal bleeding", which really got their attention.)

"Time ta check out the barricades," he muttered under his breath on his way out the gates, once he was given clearance by the guards on duty. He needed to find Ghis and get the score on what was happening.

Charice was now just beyond the city limits, searching for any sign of the members of FEF. It was getting dark, but the sun had only just set... there was still at least a few minutes of light left before she wouldn't be able to see anything more. She dared not approach the manor or the surrounding forest--whatever was going on up there, it was clear there (at least had been) a big fight. But, from this distance, she couldn't see any signs of battle now. Perhaps it had already finished, but there was no way to tell which side had triumphed. She turned around, heading for the Watch house to give her pegasus some rest.

--------

The barricades, at least, were coming along well enough... at least, as well as they could with the materials citizens could find. They were largely wooden barricades that were hastily constructed, meaning that the barricades were weaker at some points than others. Indeed, some portions of the barricades were thin enough to be hacked through by a strong enough axe.

Ghis' barricades, at least, were coming along nicely. They were fairly solid wooden fences, high enough to prevent foot soldiers from getting through. In some places, several boards had been fixed together to create wooden barricade shields, leaving slits wide enough for archers to shoot through or magicians to see and shoot spells through.

Ghis himself was currently supervising the construction of a barricade in a marketplace on the main road to the castle. Javert was also nearby, hammering in the last few nails on one of the barricade shields.

Ed was still in the alleyway.

After Ganon had left her, Ed had stayed there, waiting for him to come back.

Or someone.

Someone, at least.

But no one came. And she had laid there, fighting with waves of sickness and ripples of pain. Ed had no idea of what was going on, but she wished she did.

She seemed to be missing a lot lately.

Maybe people didn't see her. Maybe they thought she was dead. But she wasn't the one up there, 'fighting the heroes come back to destroy the dark god again'.

Ed didn't know about that either.

Ed didn't know anything.

There was a voice.

It was a voice in the minds of men, shoved to the back, given no notice, no regard through the discord that had possessed their thoughts and emotions. It was the lone thread of conscience that struggled to leap above the crowd and catch someone's eye. It was fighting, hoping fervently that it would be heard.

It was not a voice that shouted. No, it was too weak for that. But it tried to whisper to the voices around it, trying to convince them to pass on a very different message, a very different thought, a very different emotion.

In the backs of men's minds, doubt whispered vehemently. It was a voice of reason, a doubt that the Fire Emblem Forever guild was the villain, a question as to whether or not their nine beloved heroes were truly back.

It was a weak voice.

But it whispered nevertheless.

Steely Dan had no doubt that things were not all they appeared, but he was not about to get himself into a conflict with the townspeople over it. Time to go do a head count, protect his own, and take care of the people who were, rightfully, more afraid of the rioters outside than the armies in the forest.

The Watch Captain walked along slowly, down the old patrol route, heading for Ghis' barricade to meet up with his team. He was, however, a bit peeved to find a big covered cart blocking one of the alleys connected to main street. He nearly left a citation on the thing before realizing that the wagon was fortuitously taking up the entire street, forming a neat and important little barricade. Just to make it a bit more effective, the experienced copper moved to the corner of the wagon and started to shove the huge thing sideways at one corner until it had turned and wedged nicely in the alley. A few crates were stacked and wedged in underneath it to prevent people crawling under.

And then he heard a noise. Cautiously, reaching down to the smaller sword on his belt, he drew it out and quickly pulled back one of the flaps.

There was a little girl shivering on the cot in the middle, covered with a blanket and what looked like sheet music that had fallen off the stacked musical equipment all around her.

"'Ey now, whassis..." He climbed carefully inside, leaning down slowly to pull the covers back. "'S ain't a place for a gel ta sleep..." He gently tried to shake her awake, but when this failed, he sheathed his sword and picked her up, then carried her out of the alley and started looking for a way around to Ghis' barricade.

Carrying the swordschimera in both arms, he made his way through back streets, avoiding the rioters as best he could until at last he found the place he was looking for. "Oy!" he called over. "Open up, aye? 'S Dan! Got a kid 'ere, needs tae be look't at!"

Aran didn't exactly know what was going on, but he had been chased in to the castle by a group of rioting townsfolk. He was one of the first few to get inside, the townspeople abandoning the attempt to "Kill the traitor" He had heard from their screams and threatanings. Apparently, some nine Heroes had come back, the same nine heroes in Ganons story, and the same nine Heroes that saved Learania. And now, members of FEF had been fighting them on the hill? What nonsense was this!

Eventually though, more and more members of the Watch and the Guard had come in and barricaded the gates, mainly to stop the rioting crowds, but he heard a rumor of some large invasion. So, he was hammering down the barricades until Steely Dan had asked to come back in, carrying a swordschimera? Ed??

Aran opened whatever part was the entrance now, to see one of the Captains carrying exactly who he though it would be. Ed.
