We were strangers starting out on our journey
Never dreaming what we'd have to go through
Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected what you did to my heart
When I lost hope you were there to remind me
This is the start

(chorus)
And Life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river I want to keep flowing
Life is a road now and forever
A Wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there whenthe storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

We were strangers on a crazy adventure
Never dreaming how our dreams would come true
Now here we stand unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

(chorus)

I knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me alone in the dark
I know that my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart

(chorus)

In the end I wanna be standing at the beginning with you

Today marked the first day of the rest of her life. She had left her Father, Mother, and Brother behind her in order to find a place to live outside the border. It may not be far, but this would be hard for her. As long as she could remember, since she was born, she was always with her Father. A true Daddy's girl. So as she took her first few steps out of his territory, tears began silently rolling down her cheeks.

Already she wanted to turn and give her Dad a hug again. But there had been plenty of that all morning. Soon enough she'd made her way far beyond the border and was really on her own. She'd been out here before, but never to stay. Now she had to find a place to live...

Kama was a sort of Daddy's Boy himself, but it was more because he was a cub at heart. Well, heart and mind, as he'd never been truly able to outgrow his innocence and naivete. He still lived in the Rose Petal pride (as he would probably always do) but having grown up, he found the world a huge place and one just beckoning him on to explore. Encouraged by his parents and grandparents to do so, he often left exploring...at times for days on end. Today however, though it'd started as the ones before, had an edge of excitement and mystery to it, like something was about to come to change his life. He always had Samara nearby, his father's familiar, to act as his conscience and guide, in case he got in trouble.

He was far from home at this point, wandering outside another pride's borders when he came across a lionness. Excited at his discovery, he started to bound over to her in a cub-like fashion before realizing something was wrong with her. Slowing, he canted his head curiously at her. "Are....are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?" A flapping of wings announced Samara's appearance as the bright pink bird landed in Kama's dark mane.

Kaya stopped short, caught off guard upon hearing a stranger's voice. She quickly wiped her eyes and forced herself to stop crying. This was her chance to be a big girl and act her age. With a sweet smile she shook her head. "No...I'm alright. Just starting out to find myself a place to live..." It took all her strength not to start bawling.

The bird flying over to this strange new lion shifted her attention a bit thankfully. "Cute bird." She looked again to the lion. "I'm Kaya. What's your name?"

"I'm Kama, and this is Samara. She's Dad's bird, but likes to follow me around. What was wrong with where you used to live?"

"Really, Kama, don't be so rude. One should never ask such direct and personal questions to someone they just met."

"I just wanted to know why she's crying..."

"Master Kama, did not your parents teach you better manners? Really! I am appalled at such behavior as yours. Asking a lady in distress such a question?! Did you not think that it might make her more distressed? Kama, really, use that head of yours and think before speaking. Manners dictate one should...."

Samara went on like this for another minute before Kama rolled his eyes comically and put his paw around Samara's beak to shut her up as he'd seen his father do many times. Apologetically, he smiled at Kaya and said, "I'm sorry...she likes to talk. Alot...."

"That's a really nice name Kama." She smiled until the question of where she lived arose, once she heard that, fresh tears started to form until she was bawling like a cub.

"I'm old enough to leave home...but...I...I miss my Daddy...! How can I go on by myself...? I miss my Daddy and Momma and Brother..." At this point, she'd laid down on her belly, ears lowered as her paws covered her face.

"See? Now you made her cry all over again! Asking such impertinant questions! Kama, I really shou-"

Samara was once more silenced by a paw around her beak, as Kama valiantly tried to quiet the bird and comfort Kaya at the same time. "Aww!! I'm really sorry, please don't cry!!" Laying on his belly, he edged closer till her nearest cheek and paw in an effort to ease her tears and dry her face with his tongue. "I'm here, Kaya!"

Kaya looked over to the lion next to her, smiling appreciatly as he licked her cheek. The sight of Samara's beak held closed by Kama's paw made her giggle. "Don't hurt the poor bird. Though...you did not upset me...I'm just still sad about leaving home...the Pride Lands are so big...and I dunno where to go..."
