Since I'll get back to painting soon (here's hoping), I've been looking at my old paints (some of them 10 years old, in fact), and most of them are either dried, or so concentrated that they can serve as basing sludge and little else.
Two or three of the Vallejo Game colours are still suitable to use, but that's it.

Now, I've been hearing a lot of good things about P3 paint, and the newer GW inks seem to do very well, but what's your brand of choice?
Do you mix and match, buy whatever is on sale, stick to one brand, or do you paint using oil?

Liquitex and Golden are my paints of choice, though I've yet to try the new GW washes...

Hey, I remember Liquitex. Do you use a thinning agent or just water?

Also, I wonder about painting minis with oil. That must take forever, really.

They make a thinning agent for it, as well as an airbrush medium, but I've had little issue with just using water.

Well, neither my bitz order from Australia nor my paint and minis order from the US have arrived yet. It's kinda annoying, too, since some of the minis I would have wanted to field today.

Anyway, I've taken the mix and match approach. I ordered some P3 paint to try it out, and if I can find a store around these parts that sells them at a competitive price, I might end up going for them (unless all that hype is really just that: hype). I also had some Vallejo model paints and GW inks put under the counter for me to pick up the next time I'm at my regular store.

I really want to get back to painting now.

By the way, what kind of brushes do you guys and gals use? Synth hair, regular horse, ox, or something more exotic?
True fact, I once knew a guy who painted with Italian mink hair brushes (at least I think it was mink or something like that). About 20 bucks a brush, and he had a set of about 10. It really didn't make a difference to me in the end results, but he kept swearing by them. I guess whatever floats your thunderhawk, really...

I use the Citadel Paint range and they've been really nice so far, as far as brushes go however, I use a few synthetic and 2 horse hair brushes but the synth's have done just as well imo.
