What's something you've always imagined about an HP character - whether in appearance or personality - even though the books never mention anything about it?

For example, I always imagined Severus to drink black coffee. Harry NEVER sees him drinking coffee once in the books. However, I think he drinks it, and that black is how I think he drinks it. Seriously, a bunch of sugar and cream in it would NOT work for him! xd

Anyway, that's one of mine! biggrin Your turn!

User ImageI totally agree that Sev would drink black coffee. I can totally see it.

I always imagined that Hagrid had a huge cookbook full of recipes he could never get right. I can just see him in his cottage, reading the directions and scratching his head.

I never thought of the cookbook for Hagrid, but I can see that. lol

Heehee, I'm glad you see the coffee, too. xd

I also imagine Severus as having a nice, deep voice. I know he uses it to speak coldly most of the time, but I always figured there could be a sexy edge to it if someone was attracted to that sort of thing. "Mysterious" isn't what I personally go for, but I meant for someone else. I suppose I think of his voice being nice because Severus is so unpleasant to LOOK at, I thought something about him must be attractive because it isn't fair for somebody (except Umbridge or Wormtail) to have everything about them be repulsive.

I imagine that Fred and George started a massive food fight in the Great Hall at some point, cool and I wish that Harry had been there for it because then it would've been INCLUDED in the books! It probably wouldn't have gone on for long before the teachers charmed the food to stop flying, but it still would've been funny to see! razz

I think Professor Sprout is married. I wish JKR would tell us which professors are and aren't married so we'd know for sure, but she simply strikes me as one teacher that is.

I've got to mention a few things about Remus! biggrin (I bet you all saw THAT coming!)

I see Remus as not wanting to drink alcohol or smoke "things." He's a very reserved person because he hates losing control of his body and mind during the full moon, so I can't envision him wanting to inebriate himself. During school, he probably took pictures of stupid things his friends did while under the influence so he could tease them later! exclaim

I always imagined Remus' father's name as "John." I guess because the middle names of many characters (Harry, Ginny, Bill, etc.) are their parents' names. Plus, Remus is such an unusual name that there has to be a reason why his middle name is so boring! wink

As a child, Remus lived with his parents in a cottage in the woods. Remus said in PoA that he didn't have friends until Hogwarts, so I figured that his parents must've kept him away from society for his own protection, and that was why he'd never interacted with other children before age 11.

Remus' eyes are cadet blue in my mind. The books never tell us what colour they are, and most fan arts and fics show Remus with golden eyes. However, Remus was able to go through school without anyone besides his dorm mates figuring out what he was, and if gold eyes were a werewolf trait, then everyone would've noticed. So, cadet blue. whee I just think that suits how I picture his face better than green, brown, or hazel eyes.

I always pictured Hermione's room being like, full of books. Like she lives in a library.

I agree with you on the food fight for Fred and George, I so think they would do that.

I also imagined one of the Ravenclaws arguing with Hermione about school or something. That's something that always confused me. If she's so smart, why isn't she in Ravenclaw?

Well anyway, I think that's it...

I always imagined... that Lupin looked more like Scottie in his senior picture than he did the actor who played him. I saw him as having longer, shaggy hair, very clear gray blue eyes, and a very... regal sort of face. Scottie sent me his senior picture in the mail, and when I saw it my first thought was 'He looks just like Remus Lupin was supposed to!'

I also always imagined that... James was on the clumsy side. I don't know why, I just always had this image of him in my head being clumsy.

I also imagined... that Pettigrew was very skinny. I know it said he was chubby, but he's a rat, and people who look like rats are always skinny with long pointy noses and small beady black eyes.

I also imagined... that Sirius had blue eyes. I thought that with his black hair, blue eyes would be so lovely on him.

I always imagined that it was James who bought the marauders' together. Not completely sure why.

I always imagined that James and Lily got together around Christmas time of 7th year.

I always imagined that James and Lily's parents died in their 7th year and that Remus walked Lily down the aisle.

I always imagined that Ginny's favorite brother was Ron. They were the closest.

I always imagined that Dumbledore in his childhood was a male verison of Hermione. And that Grindelwald taught him to live a little as Ron and Harry did for Hermione.

I always imagined that James Sirius looked like he was his grandfathers' twin.

I always imagined that Lily and Petunia's parents absolutely loathed Vernon. I mean, they loved that Lily was a witch and was so proud of her, so I can't imagine they would be happy with their other daughter marrying someone so closed minded.

Mia, I really want to see this pic of Scottie, now!

Kineka, I agree with you about Hermione's room; full of books just like mine in real life! biggrin

That's so bizarre, Suze! eek I've thought of Remus walking Lily down the aisle in place of her dead father, too! exclaim

I see James Sirius as looking like Harry's father too...just without the glasses. Al is the only one of Harry's children with glasses. DH says Al looks just like Harry, so Al wears glasses in my head.

I imagine Lily Luna as a short and sassy girl!

I think Lily and Petunia Evans' mother must have loved to garden. rofl How else do you explain the flower names?

I imagine that Alice Prewett was in the same year as Lily and the Marauders, and that Frank Longbottom was a year older.

Dean and Seamus strike me as being best mates. Harry and Ron were best friends and Neville was lonely for so long, so that indicates to me that Dean and Seamus must have been close friends, especially since they hugged in DH.

Maybe it's the fan fic influence, but I completely imagine James and Sirius jokingly hitting on McGonagall when they were in school. lol

Remus and Lily were two of McGonagall's favourite students. She felt about them the way that she felt about Hermione. McG cried when James and Lily died, so she must've liked them both; I just think she and Lily were closer because Lily never caused her to want her to pull her hair out, like James (and Sirius) did! wink In PoA, Remus mentions to Harry that he and McG had friendly conversations, like about tea leaves, so they must be on good terms.

Sirius and Regulus were very close, especially before they were Sorted into separate Houses. Sirius doesn't insult Regulus at all when he tells Harry about him, and Sirius is never shy about insulting people, so I think he loved him.

Scorpius is more approachable and less prejudice than Draco in my mind. He looks just like Draco, though, except he doesn't slick back his hair.

Yeah, I always imagined Draco slicking back his hair when I read the books, and it annoyed me that after the second film they quit styling it that way.

Teddy's favourite colour to make his hair is teal blue. 4laugh I wish I knew why I imagine it that way. I don't have a reason; it just seems to fit.

You know, I presume a lot of things about Albus Severus, now that I think about it...
~*~*~*~

Hermione is his favourite aunt and Rose is favourite cousin because they're all very brainy.

He's brilliant at potions, just like his grandmother and his namesake.

He doesn't like Quidditch, which makes him feel uncomfortable sometimes since both of his parents, both of his siblings, and most of his uncles and cousins enjoy it.

He thinks James Sirius acts like an idiot, but he loves and admires him, and always wants his approval. Typical little brother, albeit a genius one. whee

He's quiet and shy around people that he doesn't know well. Judging from how uncomfortable he was with the stares at the train station, and how he wanted plenty of letters from his parents, it strikes me that he's close to few poeple and doesn't want to be the centre of attention. I will never understand fan fics that him outrageously outgoing and social.

Min, great minds think alike I guess. smile

I always thought James was one McGonagall's favorites because he was brillant at Tranfiguration and Quidditch, two of her favorite things. For some reason, I always imagine Lily was rubbish at Transfiguration. Not sure if that was fanfic influenced or not. Plus, McGonagall, I think, can sometimes be entertained by jokes and things. Not always, but sometimes. smile I agree Lily and Remus are up there though because McGonagall would enjoy their usual calm persona and things like that.

I always imagined the Alice and Frank thing too. biggrin

I always imagined Rosemerta having wavy, dark brown hair with red highlights, and Poppy having blonde hair. The books never mention their hair colours, so I had to pick some out myself. xd

I think Andromeda had black hair because she looked so much like Bellatrix that Harry almost attacked her in DH. We know Bella had black hair, so Andromeda must've had that, too. I know many people disagree because most fan arts give her brown hair. Some even give her red. eek

I imagine Ollivander was a Ravenclaw. He seems to crave and horde information, but never uses it for his own purposes.

I'd like to think that Sirius partly wondered if he had been a better brother if Regulus would have still joined the Death Eaters. I mean he makes the comment, without really insulting him, that he doubted Regulus was important enough for Voldemort to kill himself, even though that was the rumor. And let's face it, he was around a lot of death eaters. So I always took that as part denial on his part, that some part of his brother had to be good.

I imagine that they grew apart during their school days, but were actually rather close while growing up. Sirius does seem to be the "big brother" of the Marauder's, so he clearly had the right kind of experience. But then I'm biased, I have two older siblings who remind me of Sirius all the time.

Another thing I like to imagine is that Ron's wand saved us all, I mean Lockhart probably could have taken over the wizarding world by the time the seires ended had it not been for the spell backfire. People like that really can just get whatever they want without being stopped. (and I've actually started a short little fic about this idea)

I'd like to think the Boa did make ito to Brazil and found a nice Boa babe and had some fun little Boa babies.

and

That Lily bugged Sirius about settling down himself a lot after she and James were married.

Haha, that's really cute! 4laugh It must've found a boat to bring it across the ocean.

Ok, I know that JKR disproved this theory in an interview, but it was always one of my biggest assumptions in Harry Potter.

I always thought that Hagrid was in Hufflepuff, not Gryffindor. Because in SS, when Harry asks about Slytherin and Hufflepuff, Hagrid tells him that they are both houses at Hogwarts, and says (this is not an exact quote, but it's the general idea of it) 'A lot of people say that Hufflepuffs are a lot of duffers, but-' and he either trails off or gets cut off, I can't remember which. Add that with his character of being sweet and charming in his own way and his quirks, I thought that maybe he was about to defend Hufflepuffs because he was in that house. I'm not saying he isn't brave enough to be a Gryffindor, I'm just saying that I think he fits Hufflepuff in more ways.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2009 6:32 am

That's a good reason for thinking Hagrid was a Puff, Mia. 3nodding I always thought Hagrid was a Gryffindor because JKR makes ALL of the people Harry is close with Gryffs. Harry is on good terms with Luna and Cedric, yes, but when you think of all the students and profs he's really close to, they're ALL Gryffs. It actually annoys me a bit, especially when JKR didn't redeem ANY of the Slythy students during the final battle in DH.

I always imagined that Daphne Greengrass was pretty because her name sounded nice (I like nice names!) and the characters mentioned that Millicent and Pansy were ugly. I figured at least ONE of the Slythy girls in Harry's year had to be decent-looking.

I imagine the Penelope Clearwater dumped Percy because he was irritating to her after a short while. rofl

Yeah, that was another reason that I thought Hagrid was a Puff, because all Harry's good friends were Gryffs, and I figured he had to be the one that isn't a Gryff.

I always assumed that Lucius was abusive to Draco. I think that it's a good reasoning for why Draco acts so tough and everything at school. When you think about it, none of the other Slythys ever really went out of their way to be mean, they just were when the opportunity presented itself. Draco really really tried to be the big top dog in his house. I thought that he was afraid of how his father would react if he didn't act like the perfect pureblood child.
