Summer was fast upon the lands and the sunset stallion found himself oddly anxious. Things had been surprisingly quiet as of late. . . with the return home of his brother, Feng, whom had grown in to quite the stallion; Yei had found another little foal to take under her care, and his own children (the thought still shocked him) were more or less full grown.

It still amazed the stallion that he was a father. . . even more so, he was amazed at just how fast time had flown. Nivriti and himself had been a young couple, very much in love, and before he had a chance to fathom anything else she had wound up pregnant. So much for enjoying the moment. Too soon the pitter-patter of hooves became music to his ears. . .a fiesty son, Kodah, whom had taken to training under his uncle; a beautiful and sweet filly, Puchi-Puri, whom had her father wrapped neatly around her hoof; and finally, a very quiet, very reserved but inquisitive sort of colt, Chetan. All things considered, their family was as diverse as their origins and Althalus couldn't be more proud of all three. . . .

But his true pride and joy, the one he had picked above all the rest to keep near his side was the mother of his children Nivriti. And if one might have thought that a family could have changed his feelings, or perhaps caused him to be too busy to keep the wind mare in mind, they'd be wrong. Althalus adored Nivriti more than ever, and though sometimes they were busy tending to family matters, the stallion kept the mare near and dear to his heart.

With all three children scarce this evening, the sunset stallion saw an opportunity. It wasn't often they were left alone for long or without interruption, and so it was with high hopes Althalus sought out his mate. "Nivriti?" He called out, voice slightly muffled. A plush red rose, picked at its peak, was held on to firmly.

One could never go wrong with flowers, especially those with a velvet fragrance as sweet as the one it might adorn. Following Nivriti's scent, the stallion hoped to track her and, perhaps, be allowed to sweep her off her hooves.

Nivriti was already off her hooves, flying high above the herd territory, soaring on updrafts, and making large slow loops in the air. She liked the freedom that her wings afforded her - though the ground had its perks as well. Her family for one; her 3 children were now all grown, finding their own feet as adults. She would search them out in the next few days, drop into their lives and do the nosey mother thing, but for now...her head tilted as she glid nearer the ground, her ears pricking. She landed with a heavy thud - not an elegant landing but it was Althalus calling.

'Althalus?' she called, tucking her wings away as she walked in the direction she thought she'd heard his voice coming from, ducking under branches, and keeping her wings close to her body so that they didn't get snagged.

Althalus loved the fact that his most precious and beloved could fly, and there was something incredibly sexy about watching her take off and land. The sunset stallion enjoyed spotting Nivriti high above the clouds, and could recognize her silhouette circling like a hawk from high above on most occasions. But, every now and then, the stallion realized that it made locating her ever more difficult. . . .

Like now. Her trail had gone cold, proving she had either taken off or he had tracked her the wrong way. Regardless, he was just about to ask for the assistance of nearby wildlife (or just give up the hunt and idle for awhile longer) when she called out his name. Ah-ha, so the spirits had smiled down upon him this day. . .

Pushing his way through the thick foliage, the stallion bridged the distance between himself and his mate. Oh but she was always a sight, her long, ebony mane, wind blown from her previous flight, framing her face perfectly. She frequently caused his heart to flutter, even after being with her for such a time and raising three foals. . . .

For Althalus, at any rate, the love had most certainly not faded or dimmed. If anything, watching her play the role of mother made her even more charming and sexy, as family was quite an important thing for the silver-tongued stallion. Though he missed his children more than he cared to admit, he found he was glad that the three were scarce. . .

It meant he could keep his mate all to himself, for a little while at any rate.

Silver eyes bright with delight, the stallion didn't hesitate. Reaching over, he offered her the rose, tucking it neatly behind one of her ears before nuzzling her neck. "There you are, beautiful," he chirped, his long tail giving a happy swish. "I was hoping to cross your path," he admitted, quite pleased at his success.

"I trust you're well. . .?" With luck he hadn't called her away from any event. Honestly he had no real reason to seek her out, other than a desire for her companionship and a little time to dote upon her. For too long he had been away, either called away by family or duty to the herd. If he were lucky, she too might be able to spare a moment or two as well. . .

'There you are,' she said, a beaming smile appearing on her face the moment he came into view. Nivriti shook her mane from her face, feeling the same giddy rush she always got when she saw Althalus. It was always as if they were just falling in love, and she relived the journey they had taken where they had confessed their feelings for each other every time she caught his scent. Of course, sap like that could make her children wrinkle their noses and pretend to be ill, but she didn't care.

Her nose warmed, and she kept her head still as he showed her the beautiful flower, before tucking it behind an ear. No sudden movements now then, she mused, but then again unless they decided to really be affectionate there wouldn't be.

'I've missed you.' she said, taking her place at his side, her tail hanging loosely as she tucked her nose under his chin.
'Missed this..' she said, her eyes closing for a while, her ears twitching. All seemed quiet around them..it seemed like they might get some long needed time together as just a couple and she let out a sigh of contentment.

'I'm very well.' she said, smiling, though he wouldn't be able to see at that moment.
'I'll always be well if I have you and our family.'

The stallion practically melted in to a puddle of goo as his most beloved tucked herself underneath his chin. It was bad enough she smelled delicious enough to eat, but her very touch often sent tingles and shivers up his spine. It was strange, but the feelings he'd felt for Nivriti had only grown stronger with time. . and though sometimes they didn't always agree on things, Althalus never once doubted their love for each other. Anytime she drew near, the sunset male was instantly on cloud nine and had trouble focusing on anyone else or anything. . .

Except, perhaps, his children. But now that they were grown, he could resume being the wind's number one fan, and adoring her from sunup to sundown. How long had it been since they had some time to actually be together? Their love had ignited swiftl, and children had come shortly thereafter. . . Honestly, they hadn't had a very long opportunity to merely be a couple, when the pitter-patter of little hooves had begun.

Though he was very proud and adored each one of his children, Althalus couldn't help but be a little pleased that they were each independent enough to allow Niv and himself some precious time with one another. And the male was not going to waste such an opportunity, no siree!

"It has been awhile since it's just been the two of us," he agreed, nuzzling Nivriti's top of her head with his chin. "And I plan on making the most of this time, in case it escapes us for long once again," he added, a mischievous and almost boyish tone entering his words. Ah, if she only understood the way he was wrapped around her hoof. . . .

"But rest assured, my most precious, you have and always will be near and dear to my heart, my thoughts. Perhaps, if the lady is willing, she might accompany me on a walk?" The stallion did have a destination in mind, desiring to spoil his beloved as best he couuld in the limited time they had. Who knew when Chetan or Puchi or Kodah or one of his siblings might return to interrupt. . . .

The further from their home they went, the less likely the chance of being interrupted.

Nivriti's thoughts tended to circle in slightly lustful patterns when she was with Althalus - but it was natural, and he was her mate. Well, she pushed those away for now, as that could lead to the patter of tiny hooves, and she wasn't sure was ready to expand their family just yet. She rubbed her nose under his chin, almost purring.

'It has been, our little ones are all grown up, and flown the nest so to speak.' she replied from under his head. She slid out, tilting her head upwards and tugged on his ear.

'Oh we should, we must enjoy just being by ourselves..and I even have my figure back now,' she joked, giggling as she let go of his ear.

'Very willing my love. Wherever you lead, I shall follow.' she smiled, lightly bumping him with her hip. She continued to look at him - basking in the simple contentment of being with the one she loved.

Oh, he was just puddy in her hands. . .figuratively speaking, of course. He had no idea why he melted anytime he was near her, no understanding of how she could have changed his entire world around in a single moment. Luckiest stallion in the world was he. . . . Now if only he could make her feel just as special.

"Literally, in two of their cases," he added with a grin, tail swishing lightly as he paused to lip gingerly at her neck. Though they had been young parents, Althalus wouldn't ever change the events that made up their life. They fell in love quickly and had a family shortly thereafter; but their children had turned out to be Althalus' joy as well. He'd never thought of himself of being a father until the spirits blessed him with such a thing. . . and once again, he'd never change it. A fighter for a son, a sweet heart for a daughter, and a knowledge junkie. . . Quite a well rounded group, really, and one he was happy and proud to show off to his family.

And he did, of course. Or at least spoke of them anytime he bumped in to one of his siblings or parents. "Makes things a bit quiet though," he added lightly, silver eyes lingering upon his beloveds golden gaze. How he could get lost in such a sight. . . . .Snorting slightly, he laughed and nuzzled underneath her chin before beginning his walk through the woods. "You are just as gorgeous now as you were without this alleged figure. You will always be sexy, beloved, no matter how you perceive yourself." And that was a genuine fact! With curves, without, he didn't care. It wasn't her body (beautiful as he found it) that he was in love with. . . it was her personality, her charm, her wit, her caring heart. It was everything that made Nivriti Nivriti. . . . and her physical appearance had little to do with such a thing.

"And no amount of arguing, gorging, or dieting might change that." He added with grin and a wink. Mares and their ideas of physical beauty. Pfft. . . . he'd never understand why they tried so hard to be beautiful for their loved ones. Beauty was only skin deep, and her fur could fall off or her feathers molt and he'd find her as entrancing as he had when she first soared the skies before him.

Nivriti laughed;
'Yes, two did literally fly the nest. I hope they are doing well.' she fell quiet, wondering not for the first time how her three children were doing. She could only hope that if they had any big news they would have sought her out before now.

'Quiet? Are you missing the clatter of tiny hooves, and the sibling squabbles?' she asked lightly of her love, a smile on her face as she continued to look upon him. She wasn't sure herself...but if he wanted to be a father again she couldn't resist him anything.

She laughed at his words.
'So if I grew so fat I couldn't fly and waddled you would still love me? I wouldn't like myself hun.'

Nivriti giggled.
'Always such a sweetheart, no wonder you stole my heart. No wonder I love you with everything I am.' she nipped him gently.

"No news is good news, so I've discovered," Althalus reassured, thinking fondly of his three children. Out of them all, he worried about Puchi the most despite her being a well-grown adult! Her tender hearted nature and naivete was endearing but he did worry for her safety; sometimes she didn't seem to think things through all the way and had a penchant for stirring up trouble!

Ah, but she also had many quiet guardians especially while near the border. She was strong and though silly she wasn't stupid. She could take care of herself and would save the world one smile at a time. . . . "I'm quite sure they won't forget to share in their joys and adventure soon as such a thing discovers them!" He added with a chuckle, silver eyes bright.

Nuzzling Nivriti's neck, the stallion gave a chuckle at her words. "I can't say I miss it, as I do enjoy having you all to myself once more. But it is different. Just another adjustment. . . I feel like time slipped away faster than I'd imagined." He wasn't an old stallion, but he certainly had days he felt as much. Watching his children grow and finding their little spot of paradise empty reminded him of such things. . . One moment they were cuddling foals, the next they were mature adults on their own paths.

"If you grew so plump you'd never touch the sky again, I'd still worship your every hoof, every sway of your hips, every curve that graced your form. And if you didn't like yourself, I'd just have to love you all the more to make up for it and have you change such a view." He grinned, finding absolutely no problem with any scenarios she presented. Oh, he didn't want her to NOT like herself, but he was sincere in that he'd love her no matter what.

She was his angel, his soul-mate. Nothing would ever change that. . . nothing.

'Well as long as they don't forget that we are here for them if they need us.' she said out loud, remembering how lively things had been with all three of their children still at home. But eventually they grew, and left home, finding their own way in the world. As she had done. As Althalus had done.

'Are you feeling old?' Nivriti giggled, a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. That happened as well, but he wasn't, and she wasn't yet. But it was fun to tease, and she looked at him with such love that she was sure he would feel it without looking at her.

'Really?' she laughed properly, her head going back as she did so. What a picture! She would look like one of those bantam hens that run around in a strange fashion.

'I would think the same of you, love you no matter how you looked. Endlessly..'
She pressed her nose against him. It was as though she was reaffirming their bond, a dance of devotion that would only cease when they had cause to leave each other's company again.

Althalus beamed up at his beloved mate, cherishing the few moments they had together. It was strange how he heard of mates becoming distanced, detached and otherwise bored with their chosen mates. Couples separated, couples parted ways and broke each others hearts. Althalus refused to let that happen between Nivriti and himself . . . furthermore, he doubted it ever would! He adored the brown and cream wind that stood before him. She was the key to his world, and he loved her more with every breath and every moment they shared.

Red eyes twinkled with good humor as she suggested that he might feel old. "Old? Me!?" He snorted softly before tossing Nivriti a wink. ". . . . Though I am still in the prime of my life, Most Beloved, I . . . . I suppose the concept has crossed my mind. Time just seems to travel so swiftly - as a foal I couldn't wait to grow up and go adventuring. Now that I'm full grown, I can't seem to stop time from slipping through my grip. . . . "

It wasn't that long ago that he had met her that fateful day by the lake. Furthermore, it wasn't thatl ong since his children were but foals prancing beneath their hooves. How times had changed. . . . now his children were full grown and ready to start their own lives and (heaven forbid) families their own! "Do you realize we could be dubbed grandparents any day? I fear that day. . . I'm not ready for such a label."

Althalus didn't doubt that his children would be careful and cautious of who they courted. But the mere idea of ANY of them courting someone was enough to make him want to shuffle them all back to the hills and keep each of them within sight. Kodah he didn't worry quite as much about, but Puchi Puri was so innocent! And Chetan . . .well. . . . He was innocent too, in his own briany sort of way. Althalus also understood clearly the persuasive and wily ways of mares and stallions alike! There would be no corruption of his children, thank you. It was not allowed!

" . . . . but that's just the way of things, I guess. We started young, but I wouldn't change any of it for the world."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:30 am

'You're not even remotely old my love. I was only teasing you.' Nivriti said, with a tug to his mane, affection in her eyes and in the smile that crossed her mouth when the lock of his hair was dropped.

'And when we do, we'll grow old together. And I'll still love you just as much. Besides..'
Nivriti gave him a tiny wink, her tail swishing against his hind legs.

'We've only had the one lot of children ourselves..' she nodded at him, musing for a moment, wondering which of her brood of three would give them that honour first. Probably not Kodah, Chetan? Maybe..or maybe Puchi. Not that she wanted to think of them like that, they were still her foals, though logically she knew they were adults and old enough to be making decisions about having family or not.

'The thought of it does divide me. What I do hope, over anything, is that should they pursue love and family, that they are as lucky as we were.'

The stallion nuzzled his mate, leaning over to lip lightly at the curve of her neck. By the spirits she was so beautiful. . . Rich gold eyes that rivaled the sun, ebony locks spun of silk he was certain, and a gorgeous body to boot! Truly, he had been blessed to have met up with a mare as lovely and wonderful as Nivriti. . . . And everyday he hoped he could spend one more minute, one more breath, one more heartbeat with her and only her.

He was truly blessed.

"They'll tell of our love for ages, of that I'm sure," he grinned, silver eyes bright as he nuzzled Nivriti softly. "And may the world realize that we are one of the lucky few to have found our soul mates." He had always seen how his mother and father expressed their affections; they were as inseparable as stars in the night sky. While he had always hoped he might find something as sweet, he'd never really believed he would. . . and yet here she was, the beauty that had soared in to his life with such ease.

Ears pricked, he gave a nod as his lovely spoke. Which of his children would bless them with grand children? The thought was almost terrifying. . . . Had so much time passed since? "I'm more than confident they will find a love of their lives and be just as blessed as we have been. Epic romances tend to run in the family, my sweet," he grinned, tossing her a wink.

Hmm. . . . still. . . . he did rather hope for another brood someday. Should the spirits bless them with such a thing. But if not, he was as proud a father as he was a lover, and he couldn't ask for more than Chetan, Kodah and Puchi. Nivriti outdid herself with those three, asking for any more just wasn't necessary.

But if the spirits obliged, he certainly wouldn't object!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:14 am

Nivriti giggled. Some of the things he said were terribly silly..but also made her heart sing, that he said all the things to her and about them. And they would a 'them' for all their lives, that she had no doubt.

'We are..' she whispered softly, returning the affection with her own soft nuzzles, giving a small sigh that spoke of her contentment at just standing, being here with her mate. Her eyes had slid closed, and she opened them slowly to speak again.

'I hope so..how I would I begin to counsel them as to how to cope with a lost love? The spirits know I've never had to deal with that.' she said, looking up at Althalus.

'I guess I would have to hope I said the right things, beyond soothing platitudes, should the need arise.'

Althalus too was unsure how to council a broken heart. He had tried to once, though he hadn't intentionally broke Vidia's heart. Somehow something he had said, his charm, had gone too far and cast some spell on the mare. He could still recall her rather hostile and angry reaction after returning to speak to his friend about Nivriti . . .

Unfortunately, his words had fallen on deaf ears. For a moment he wondered how the cream mare fared and he could only hope she had found what she was searching for. That was neither here nor there, and he wasn't about to let it distract from the pleasantries of now.

Smiling gently, he gave a little nod before pressing his nose tenderly against Nivriti's own. "I have hope that our children will be as lucky as we. . . but should the need arise, I am more than certain that we will know what to say. In part, the healing must come from within their hearts . . . but at least they'll know one place that they are eternally loved and supported. No matter how old, they'll always be welcome back home."

Ah yes. . . home.

It wasn't just that they were in Islagiatt. It wasn't the mountains or the cold winters or the familiar trails that made his heart sing. It was Nivriti . . . wherever she roamed was where he'd follow and wherever they rested was where home could be found. He loved Yei and Grencia dearly, and had been charmed with Aishwarya. . . but without Nivriti, it was just as temporary rest or stay, a convenient territory to wait for his beloved.

Strange how concepts and feelings could so swiftly change. . . . Islagiatt would always be home in theory, but until his beautiful mate Nivriti was there, home wasn't at all complete.
