Johnathan stepped into the holoroom. ((Not really a deck?)) "Activate program Girio Alpha," He said in a clear loud voice, the room changed accordingly, two human blanks appeared, along with several energy weapons and varying armors. John went straight to work, have one blank fire the weapons at the other, examining backburn, looking at chances for backfire, and several other things. As he went he added tiny subroutines into the weapons and armors, this was how he spent a lot of the time he wasn't busy.

Johnathan noticed he was late for class. "End program," he said as he quickly left to room.
((FYI: this is where my character will spend most of his time.))

Professor Kirk stepped out from behind a barrier that made her un-seen to the human eye. She stopped the cadet who was just in the room, "Cadet!" She was not angry, but interested, "What was the point to activating the program when you didn't attempt anything? Explain please."

John walked into the room, activated his program, and went straight to work. this time he was testing his PDS, Personal Deflector Shield. Having one blank shoot the other with various phase weapons, while the other wore the PDS emitter.

After nearly an hour of configuring the shield, John was getting frustrated, it still couldn't defend from anything set past "Kill" adequately, he had a few burns from ricochet too, he decided to give up and go to the bar. Maybe the stench from his new burns scare off a few people, he didn't really care. Of course, if he used the safety protocols, he'd be fine, but that always seemed to weaken everything, he couldn't get accurate readings. "Computer, reintiate safety protocols, and save changes to Girio Alpha," He said in a defeated sort of way, the computer complied, then John left for the bar.

Soren entered the holodeck behind John. She hadn't spent much time on holodecks herself, only ever when she did target practice back on Vulcan. And on occasion, they didn't even use holodecks.
"I'm John, by the way, John Girio, maybe you heard of my dad, Capt. Girio?"
"I'm Soren, daughter of Turak of Vulcan. My fathers and instructor at the Vulcan Science Academy.
"Captain Girio? Yes, I believe I have. A terrible accident it was, that took his life. From my understanding, there was no logical reason that the phaser should have backfired. I mean, normally an overload is deliberate or as sabotaged. Other than that, disengaging the safeties that normally manage the phaser's power system can cause the overload. This allows energy to be transferred from the power cell to the prefire chamber then back into the power cell faster than the cell can reabsorb the energy, causing the cell to overload." Soren bit her lip suddenly.
"I'm sorry, sometimes I get ahead of myself. You have my deepest of apologies. I have no doubt you already knew all of that." Her face turned a bit green as she blushed in embarassment.

Jhon nodded, then said clearly, "Activate Program Girio Alpha, Disable Safety Protocols," the room changed accordingly. John went over and picked up PDS apparatus, "This is my current project, the PDS."

"The PDS?" Soren asked as she looked around at what had appeared for the program. John seemed like he was quite serious about his work. Maybe he'd get a commendation while still at the academy.
"This is some very thorough work you've been doing." Soren complimented.

"Yes, PDS, Personal Deflector Shield, it's like what they use on starships, but in a smaller scale, so far it can deflect everything up to Kill on standard phase weapons, nothing on my modified versions," John said, he was very much devoted to his work.

"This is very talented work. Starfleet may make this standard equipment for away missions." Soren said, looking over the PDS.
"You know, if you could alter a duonetic field, you could use this to disable any non-Federation weaponry. It would take quite a bit of work, considering the differences between Federation equipment and such."

"Hmm, that'll have to wait though, right now I've got too much on my plate to even think about starting another project. Like this," John picked up a regulation phaser, he had modified it, and given it another setting "Overcharge," this setting could be used to disable other phasers, and even some generators. "Computer, give blank one a standard phaser," A phaser appeared in the blanks hand, "Blank one, fire at blank two." The Blank started to fire, but John shot at his phaser before it fired, the phaser crackled a bit, then exploded, killing Blank One.

"That was amazing." Soren said, walking over to the remains of Blank one. Nearly nothing was left of it after the forced overload of it's phaser from the one John was holding.
"Are you sure your a student here?" She asked, laughing softly.

John luaughed, " I have been called a prodigy before, my blood, sweat and tears have gone into all this work here, and, of course, any chance at a social life," he laughed again. "Computer, replace blank one, and equip blank two with a PDS apparatus."

"Well, you have a few years here at the Academy. You can still get a social life, after all, what do you call this? You invited a fellow cadet to see your work." Soren smiled then thought of something.
"What if we have a party, for all of the cadets in our year? It gives you that social life you gave up and if you spend to much time on this, your bound to go nuts. so you need a bit of a break I think."
