Cody stared at the flowing, blue waves that rippled out as far as he could see, gently rolling into the shore and splashing the little toddlers that splashed about in it. Stretching a bit to try and get used to his, sudden overnight growth, the spawn scanned the beach for a second time. His mother was somewhere behind him, getting some ice cream for herself since Cody hadn't wanted any.
Throwing his towel over his shoulder, Cody wandered down to the shoreline, avoiding the screaming and laughing kids as they ran by. He disliked the new clothes that clung to his form. They smelled so... new. New swim trunks, new flip flops, new shirt, everything. Setting down his towel in a free spot, away from the waves and the tide that would later come, the child looked back up at Shadai before looking around, searching for a familiar face. Or at least, a face that stuck out and reminded him of the facility he had come from.

Another day at the beach, another good swim, and another good bout of magic practice. Dane was thinking to himself silently as he lounged on his beach towel watching the waves come and go. He had a pair of sunglasses on and a nifty new pair of swim trunks that he had just bought the day before.
The rather chubby preteen had just come back from a swim and was letting himself dry out and rest. He was lazily munching on some trail mix, it seemed rare for Dane to go much of anywhere without food.
Normally he wouldn't have let his mind wander as much as he was. It was just recently that he had let his dread of becoming too much like Kerylia slip from his mind. He had met some new people and taken more risks. Aside from the rambunctious new little brother Dane seemed pretty content. He wasn't paying much attention to the people around him at the beach. He was busy daydreaming, a luxury he rarely took part in.

A random splash of green caught Cody's eye and upon looking closer, was surprised to see that it was actually the skin of another, far larger child. Well, larger as in a few years older and a little larger around the middle but... he knew better than to comment on it. Besides, why bother to make enemies when friends were far better?
Wandering over, the child watched the other for a moment before deciding to say something. "Hello," he greeted, wondering just what kind of sin game him such green skin. It was a little like Mimosa's but... he highly doubt the other was part sloth. He certainly didn't act like it and it wasn't anywhere near the same color. So... what was it?

"Hmm?" Dane shifted his attention from the waves to the boy standing near him, "Oh, hi," He said propping himself up on his elbows and removing his sun glasses.
"I'm sorry, have we met before?" Dane asked a little unsure. He was still just recently starting to get out and meet new people. So the concept of a stranger just coming up to chat was still a little foreign to him.

Cody shook his head, knowing that if he had met someone with that color of skin and style of wings, he would remember. "No, prob'ly not. Jus' noticed that you look like you came from that horrid Facility 'nd just wanted t' say hi," he replied, wondering if the other didn't want any company or was unused to just random people saying hi.
"I'm Cody, by the way. What's your name?" he asked, admiring the bright, metallic wings the other had, almost wishing he had a pair like it. Yet, he highly doubt he could be able to fly with them. So then he wondered, which was better; flying, or really shiny wings? Hm, tough choice...

Facility? He must have meant seven of seven. The preteen had no particular love for the labs but he didn't seem to despise it nearly as much as this kid. It also struck his as odd, he was running into more and more kids from the facility lately, all of which seemed to recognize he was from the same labs as they were. Dane was starting to pick up on some traits of kids from seven of seven but he still found it hard to differentiate with the vast diversity Gaia held.
"Seven of seven I'm guessing is what you mean?" Dane asked confirming Cody's suspicion, "Yeah, and my name's Dane, uhm, nice to meet you Cody," He said as he lifted up the bag of trail mix he had in hand to offer some to the other boy.

Cody nodded, trying rather hard not to make a face at Seven of Seven, the Facility's true name. It had been so cold there, and the techs hadn't been too nice. They had to keep him in a rather plain room away from everyone else, mostly because he loved taking anything worthwhile from those that were there as well.
"Yeah, Seven of Seven. May I join you or would you rather be alone?" Cody asked, grinning as the trail mix was offered to him. Taking a small handful, the child glanced Dane over again as he started to slowly eat the mixture of nuts and dried fruits. Those wings... They were absolutely beautiful... "What parent got you those shiny wings?" he asked, extremely curious. His wings were folded behind him and rather hidden, as if embarrassed that they weren't nearly as beautiful as the ones Dane had.

Dane gave a bit of a shrug, "Go ahead," He said moving over a bit to the side of the towel to make room. After Cody took a handful the preteen sealed the bag and placed it off to the side.
At the mention of his wings Dane glanced over his shoulders, "The Liberality angel, Jhor," He told Cody, "Though the get in the way a lot when I'm in the water. It took a while to learn how to swim with these things. They're more trouble than they're worth really," He said with a frown. As of later and later Dane really didn't seem to have much love for his wings.

Cody looked almost horrified by what Dane said about his wings as he sat down next to the pre-teen. More trouble then they're worth?! How could he say that?! He vaguely wondered if he could trade Dane something for them. Nah, not only would his mother not let him, but there was the problem of removing them...
"Can't imagine anything like them being more trouble than their worth," the spawn muttered. Then again, a creature of greed, like him, probably would never really care how troublesome something was, so long as they got a good deal on it and it was shiny and pure. "You like swimming, I assume?" he asked, trying to think of a different subject before he became too jealous of the shiny wings Dane had.

Dane shrugged a bit, "It's not like they have any practical use, they can't even fly," He said though he wondered to himself if that was because of the wings them self or if he was too overweight.
"Yeah, I swim just about every day, where ever I can," He said seeming to perk up a bit more at the mention of swimming, "I've been practicing a water magic spell recently too. It's pretty relaxing, water I mean. When you're just floating there it's like nothing else matters ya know?" He said obvious hexed by the allure of water.

Cody nearly made a face at his comment on water being relaxing, but there was one thing that caught his attention and shifted it away from Dane's shiny wings. "Water magic?" he questioned, rather interested in this "magic". Did that mean he would eventually learn magic as well? An exciting thought, using magic... His mother might not be too pleased, but hey, magic was magic right? And thus, being magic, far cooler than shiny wings... Depending on the type of magic, anyways.

"Yeah, I learned a spell from Mr. B. It's called a water twister or something like that," He said not really remembering the exact name, "It's pretty awesome, nothing totally amazing but I think it's cool," He said with a shrug picking up the trail mix again and opening the bag. He offered it to Cody again before taking a handful and munching on it.

Cody shook his head when the trail mix was offered to him again. He wasn't that terribly hungry, having eaten before coming to the beach, and was far more interested in the magic and this Mr. B he talked of.
"Mr. B? He teaches magic?" the hybrid asked, curiously. "OH! Can show me water twister later? Sounds really cool," he added, excited. So far, he was the first to actually speak of knowing magic. Then again, he only knew of a couple of kids from the facility that were roughly Dane's age and they hadn't said a word on the subject. How odd...
